Shock as MP’s Sister is Found Dead in Toilet

Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago’s sister Jane Murugi is dead.

Murugi, a senior nurse stationed in Machakos County, was found dead in her Membley Estate house in Ruiru, Kiambu County on Friday morning.

The body was reportedly discovered in the toilet.

Initial reports suggested that Murugi, 41, committed suicide by hanging.

Police, however, suspect foul play, given Murugi was found dead while seated on the toilet bowl.

“A scarf tied to a necktie was found hanging from the toilet window,” Ruiru OCPD Mutwiri Ringera said.

Her husband, Dr Stephen Ndoro, said he woke up at 5am on Friday and did not find his wife in bed.

Ndoro, 38, a medical doctor who works in Makueni County, said when he went to the toilet, he found his wife dead.

Murugi, who was on maternity leave, died aged 41. She leaves behind a 2-month old baby.

Her body was taken to Kenyatta University Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Kiambu County DCI boss, OCPD Ringera, MP Kago, and other lawmakers had arrived at the morgue by 1pm Friday.

Police say they will question Murugi’s husband.
