A man was over the weekend rushed to hospital while unconscious after he was allegedly beaten up by Wajir Governor Ahmed Mukhtar’s security for just overtaking him.

According to reports, Mohammed Abdullahi Nur sustained injuries that led to him being hospitalised at Buna Sub-County Hospital while unconscious where he was referred to Wajir County Referral Hospital.

The victim is reported to have told the police that the incident took place at Buma Airstrip on Saturday, October 30, where they had gone for launch.

According to him, he overtook the Governor’s convoy using his four-wheel drive and arrived at Buma Airstrip ahead of the County boss.

The police , however, have indicated that the driver was also accused of using foul language against the governor and his entourage.

This forced the governor’s security details to clobber him, leaving him unconscious before he was transferred to Wajir Referral Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

It was later established the reason for the assault was that the said driver had obstructed the governor’s convoy and used foul language against the security detail.

The victim was reportedly attached to a Member of the National Assembly who was also to attend the event.

North Eastern police boss Rono Bunei confirmed to the press that his team had taken over investigations into the matter.
