Kenya Films and Classification Board CEO Dr Ezekiel Mutua has come to the rescue of Kendrick Mulamwah, popularly known as Mulamwah, the comedian who recently announced that he was quitting comedy due to cyber bullying.
Mutua through his official twitter account on Wednesday morning said that he had heard the reports of Kenyans on Twitter wanting to push Mulamwah out of comedy, and into depression.
The moral cop encouraged Mulamwah to pick himself up and give him a call.
He has promised to buy the comedian a new shirt, mentor him and make him an ambassador of clean content.
Mutua went ahead to advice Mulamwah that the best way to deal with cyber bullying is refusing to give up.
“I hear that twitterates are driving @mulamwah out of comedy & into depression. Bro pick yourself up and give me a call. I will buy you a new shirt, mentor you and make you an ambassador of clean content. The best way of dealing with cyber bullies is to refuse to give up!” he posted.
Mulamwah took to his social media pages on Monday evening to apologize to his fans for making a decision of quitting comedy.
He shared a video of himself burning his favourite comic shirt, an attire that has always identified himself to his fans.
The comedian noted that the reception on social media had become too harsh for him to bear.
He explained that what was to make him happy makes me more sad, more enemies than friends, too much negativity and trolls.
Mulamwah noted that he wasn’t on social media for fame and bad blood but for fun. He thanked his fans for the support and everyone else who made him successful.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make . Am sorry guys , what was to make me happy makes me more sad, more enemies than friends, too much negativity, trolls. I wasn’t here for fame and bad blood but for fun. Shukran sana kwa the support from the fans and everyone else who made it a success,” part of his post read.
Several other celebrities, among them comedian Jalang’o, DJ Shiti, gospel artist Bahati and radio presenter Alex Mwakideu have encouraged Mulamwah to give a deaf ear to cyber bullies and continue doing his thing.
