Kimani Wamatangi arrested

Anti-president William Ruto chants erupted in Kiambu on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, after Governor Kimani Wamatangi was arrested following a police raid on his home.

Residents broke into “Ruto must go” chants as Governor Wamatangi was being driven away from his home in the escort of a convoy of police vehicles.

During the arrest, Wamatangi was seen waving to the locals from the backseat of an SUV as the detectives escorted him to their offices for interrogation.

The residents, while chanting anti-Ruto songs, alleged that the president was aware of the scheme behind Wamatangi’s frustrations.

However, the presence of heavily armed police officers deterred their attempts to block the convoy transporting Wamatangi and the other county officials.

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested Wamatangi over alleged corruption following early morning raids at his residence and county offices.

Nine senior county officials were also arrested in the crackdown linked to suspected embezzlement of public funds and conflict of interest in procurement deals.

EACC detectives said they seized documents and electronic devices crucial to the probe.

The operation follows months of pressure from Kiambu leaders for investigations into the governor, who succeeded Ferdinand Waititu—now in prison for a Ksh588M graft case.

In February, Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa urged the EACC to probe the county’s shift from an automated to a manual payment system, alleging it enabled ghost workers and the theft of Ksh390 million.

If these figure is share among 52 million kenyans irrespective of age, each has s public debt of Ksh 110,000 yet more than 90% don't have jobs. currently kenya has 3.6 tax payers and if Ksh 5.8 trillion is shared among them, each has a public debt of Ksh 1.7 million. when will kenyans be debt free?
