NaxVegas club owner Laura Kwasira who succumbed to gunshot injuries.
Police officer suspected of shooting and killing the owner of NaxVegas club, Laura Kwisira and a bar maid, Ann Maina in Nakuru over a Sh16,000 bill will face two counts of murder charges, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has said.
Police Constable Nicholas Musau attached to Nakuru Central Police Station on the night of December 12, 2023, shot four people at the club, among them two bouncers.
He was then arrested and presented into court two days later on a miscellaneous application, but had not yet been charged.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) took over the matter from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on December 22 last year and realised that there were gaps in the police file.
However, the ODPP has issued a statement confirming that the officer will face two counts of murder.
In a statement posted via social media accounts, the ODPP says IPOA had submitted an inquiry file and having reviewed it, it was satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to sustain a charge of murder.
