Rift Valley regional commissioner George Natembeya has send off nine government officials over the death of ten people who allegedly consumed poisonous illicit brew in Nakuru County.
Natembeya who spoke on Monday morning confirmed that Bahati OCPD Bernard Wamugunda, Bahati DCC, Kiamaina ACC and OCS Kiugu-ini police station have been interdicted over the incident.
Natembeya also confirmed that Hodi Hodi area chiefs and sub chiefs and Thayu area chief have been interdicted.
He confirmed that their interdiction is in a move to curb sale of illicit brew in Nakuru.
Natembeya said the county police commissioner will take administrative action on officers abetting sale of illicit brew.
According to Natembeya, the government policy is not to transfer underperforming officers, but interdict them, which is the first step before one is fired.
Counties placed on alert for illicit brew sales include Nakuru, Bomet, Kericho, Nandi, Narok, Kajiado, Laikipia, Samburu, Trans Nzoia and Marakwet.
