Residents of Taru in Kwale County are mourning the death of three children and their mother after fire razed down their house. The are police boss Fred Ombaka said that the fire whose caused was not established was reported to him on Friday at 10 pm by the chief.
He then sent an emergency report team as soon as he received the news. However, they could not save the mother and her children from the house within Taru trading center. The police boss added that the three were inside the house when the fire broke out, “We are investigating the case,” said Ombaka.
Taru chief Raphael Rurumo said the house belongs to one Hussein Mwanyikombo, a teacher at Egu Primary School. Mwanyikombo had gone to watch football at the nearest trading center when the incident occurred. A nyumba kumi representative Muthui Makau revealed that the fire might have started after a PVC caught fire. He said there was no electricity at that time and the family lit a candle. The four bodies were taken to Kinango mortuary.
