Renown Kenyan historian and journalist Hilary Ng’weno is dead.
A statement released by his family confirmed that Ng’weno died on Wednesday July 7, 2021 at his home aged 83 after a long illness.
The family notified Kenyans that there will be a limited access to Ng;weno’s house due to the current Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country.
The family will be holding a memorial service and thereafter notify Kenyans of the burial arrangements. A zoom link for the service will also be provided for those that are far.
“I am sorry to inform his friends and colleagues that Hilary Ng’weno died today, aged 83. He died at home in the bosom of his family. Due to the pandemic we kindly request no visitors to the house. We will be holding a memorial service and let you know the arrangements soon.
“We will include a zoom link for those of you who are far away. He enjoyed your contributions to the tribute volume we put together for his 80th birthday. Since that time he has been in failing health and finally passed away today. Amolo and Bettina Ng’weno,” reads the statement from the family.
