KANU Chairman Gideon Moi has announced that he will vie for the presidency in 2022 and urged the Kalenjin community not to backstab him. According to Nation, the Baringo senator said that he aspires to change and improve the living standards of all Kenyans and unite communities regardless of their tribe or political stance.

While addressing residents at his Sacho home after attending a church service at AIC Tandui in Baringo Central, Mr. Moi showed his confidence by saying that he would defeat his opponents if he gets support from the Kalenjin community. The senator promised to transform the country by improving areas that were behind in development.

He said he made a final decision and he will not step down no matter the situation. “I am only asking my community to support me in this journey,” said Mr. Moi. “If I lose, I will have lost humbly than being despised and if I win, it will play to our advantage also,” he added.

He appealed to his community, on whose backing his father ruled for 24 years and maintained a stronghold to give him a chance to prove himself. ” I am your son and you believed in me by voting for me as an MP for five years and a senator for two terms. We should walk together to the State House because I promise not to disappoint you,” Moi said.

He said that KANU will make a declaration at the Bomas of Kenya on 30 September. He told the residents that he would go home after the declaration to seek their blessings. During his speech, he challenged his political opponents to get ready for tough political times, adding that he had braced himself well for the duel.
