Five people suspected to have conspired to break into Prime Bank, OTC branch in Nairobi have been arrested.
According to an official statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the gang was arrested in the wee hours of Friday morning as they were about to break into the bank located at Angle House along Ukwala lane, in downtown Nairobi.
According to DCI, the suspects had booked themselves into guest rooms at the said building, which shares the same wall with the bank.
They have been identified as Charles Mulo, Fredrick Muderwa, Jesse Muriuki, Gabriel Mungai and Reuben Njuka.
They had planned to drill their way into the bank in the dead of the night but DCI detectives got wind of the plan and stormed the building forcing the suspects to hide in the ceiling.
The detectives were forced to break the ceiling before pouncing on the five. The officers managed to recover three hacksaws, one knotted twisted rope, one metal driller, five metal bars, one metal cutter scissors and one suitcase.
The suspects have been booked at Kamukunji police station awaiting to be arraigned in court.
