It’s early morning, you’re psyched for another beautiful day. But before you leave the house, you check your messages to ensure you didn’t miss anything. Then, there it is! A new WhatsApp group notification flashes, “Kanene Weds Kanono (434 messages): +254 712 345..)”
Immediately, you get alarmed to check. You are in a group with 160 other strangers for 6 long months before you’re finally “lefted” as the group closes.
However, what if we did it differently? I mean, the couples. Keep everything private between your buddies and others, while you track and engage with those who support you in a secure way?
For example, keeping pledges and contributions locked somewhere only you have the key and only constantly checking how much of your pledges have been redeemed, and what’s that as compared to your budget goal?
You might have thought about this, or maybe not.. and yet, there has been several innovative ideas in improving the wedding experience, but none has been so specific to the wedding planning like this tool.
Several couples and wedding committee members have shared over the years how difficult it is to plan the entire wedding process. That it has seemingly been a task to bring all things together: budget, vendors, expenses, pledges, contributions, guests and teams together.
Some time ago, couples used notebooks to keep everything balanced. But this wasn’t effective as it led to trails of paper that were difficult to track.
Then later came the WhatsApp groups that technically have most people skeptical about the group feature of WhatsApp, and Google forms.
We met with Scott Herbert, the man who believes we can do it better, in a less stressful way. That it is important to keep track of everything in a single drawer. That we can make the wedding planning journey a worthwhile experience by avoiding the friends’ blacklist and shutdown.
According to Scott, a couple can SIGN UP and access wedding planning tools including list of vendors, budget & expenses tracking tool, contributions and guest list all in one place.
The platform, Scott says, is designed to accept pledges and contributions through a simple couple website you can create once logged in, and all information are reflected on your dashboard instantly.
This tool he says, will eliminate the need for WhatsApp groups and Google forms that have become so common among couples. Google forms being used to keep records of pledges and contributions every time they are received.
One important feature he notes, one can have SMS and M-PESA integrated features enabled for them at a small fee. This will enable you to set SMS reminders for your guest lists or pledges list the un-redeemed amount with M-PESA interface to fulfill the request. All this transaction happening real time as specified by you.
This is definitely a simple but very thoughtful tool that would see couples now automate everything without the constant reminders, messages and notes on WhatsApp groups and G forms.
