Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has vowed to continue fighting the government’s proposed sale of a 15 per cent stake in Safaricom PLC to South Africa’s Vodacom, insisting the transaction threatens Kenya’s control over one of its most strategic national assets.

His remarks come days after the Court of Appeal lifted conservatory orders that had temporarily halted the multi-billion-shilling transaction, allowing the government to proceed with plans to dispose of part of its shareholding in the telecommunications giant while the substantive constitutional case remains pending.

Taking to his official X account on Monday, June 29, 2026, Kalonzo maintained that the appellate court’s decision should not be interpreted as approval of the sale.

“The Court of Appeal has now lifted the conservatory order. But the lifting of that order is not a green light. It is not judicial endorsement of the transaction. The legal battle continues, and the substantive questions of law and public interest remain squarely before the courts,” Kalonzo said.

The former Vice President argued that reducing Kenya’s shareholding in Safaricom from 35 per cent to 20 per cent would leave the state as a minority shareholder in what he described as the country’s “crown jewel” and a telecommunications asset of immense strategic, economic and national security importance.

“The proposed sale of Kenya’s 15% stake in Safaricom PLC to Vodacom would reduce the Republic to a minority shareholder in its own crown jewel, a national telecommunications asset of strategic, economic, and security significance. This we cannot and will not accept,” Kalonzo said.

He further warned potential investors against rushing to conclude the transaction before the constitutional issues raised in court are determined.

“To those who would rush to conclude this sale before those questions are answered, we say plainly: caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware.”

Kalonzo added that any deal completed before the courts pronounce themselves on the matter would remain vulnerable to legal challenge.

“Any transaction concluded in the shadow of live litigation, against the expressed opposition of the Kenyan people, and without transparent parliamentary sanction, is a transaction concluded at risk. We will pursue every lawful avenue in the courts, in Parliament, and before the people to ensure that Kenya does not surrender control of Safaricom on the altar of opaque dealmaking,” he stated.

The proposed sale of Kenya's 15% stake in Safaricom PLC to Vodacom would reduce the Republic to a minority shareholder in its own crown jewel, a national telecommunications asset of strategic, economic, and security significance. This we cannot and will not accept.

The Court of… pic.twitter.com/iNftyedvRj
— Kalonzo Musyoka (@skmusyoka) June 29, 2026

Court lifts freeze but case continues

The Court of Appeal last week granted the government’s application to suspend High Court conservatory orders that had blocked implementation of the proposed sale pending the hearing of constitutional petitions challenging the transaction. A three-judge bench held that the government had met the legal threshold for stay orders and that public interest favoured allowing the transaction to proceed.

The appellate judges, however, emphasized that they were not determining the legality or constitutionality of the proposed sale. They also observed that if the petitioners eventually succeed, the transaction could still be reversed because the shares would remain capable of being restored to the relevant parties with appropriate remedies.

Constitutional questions remain

The dispute stems from the government’s plan to sell a 15 per cent stake in Safaricom to Vodacom Group in a transaction valued at about KSh204.3 billion. Parliament approved the partial divestiture earlier this year as part of a broader plan to raise funds for the National Infrastructure Fund and other development priorities.

However, the proposal has attracted multiple legal challenges from opposition leaders and private citizens, including Tony Gachoka, Fredrick Ogola and Kalonzo Musyoka. The petitioners argue that the transaction raises constitutional concerns relating to public participation, transparency, valuation of the shares, data sovereignty and national security. They also contend that the proposed sale price undervalues the government’s stake in Kenya’s largest listed company.

The High Court had earlier agreed that the petitions raised substantial constitutional issues warranting a full hearing and temporarily suspended the sale. While that suspension has now been lifted, the constitutional petitions themselves remain active before the courts, meaning the legality of the proposed transaction has yet to be finally determined.

If completed, the transaction would reduce the National Treasury’s shareholding in Safaricom from 35 per cent to 20 per cent while increasing Vodacom’s ownership, giving the South African telecommunications group majority control of the company.

Wiper Movement launches recruitment drive for presidential campaign chief as Kalonzo Musyoka intensifies State House bid

The Wiper Patriotic Front has taken a major step towards the 2027 General Election after advertising the position of Presidential Campaign Manager, signalling that party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s bid for State House is gathering momentum.

In a recruitment notice shared through the party’s official communication channels, Wiper invited qualified candidates to apply for the influential role, which will oversee the planning and execution of the party’s presidential campaign under the “Komboa Kenya” banner.

The vacancy announcement marks one of the clearest indications yet that the party is moving from political mobilisation to building the structures that will drive Kalonzo’s presidential campaign ahead of the next General Election.

Search for Campaign Strategist

According to the advertisement, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the national campaign strategy, coordinating regional and county campaign teams, and managing stakeholder engagement.

The campaign manager will also be tasked with handling crisis response during the election period, underscoring the strategic importance of the position in what is expected to be a fiercely contested presidential race.

Wiper said applicants must have at least 10 years of relevant experience and asked interested candidates to submit their curriculum vitae, cover letters, and academic certificates via email.

The party also directed applicants to visit its official website for a detailed job description.

‘Komboa Kenya’ Campaign

The recruitment notice prominently features the slogan “Komboa Kenya” (Rescue Kenya), which has increasingly become associated with Kalonzo’s message as he positions himself as an alternative to the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Political observers view the decision to publicly recruit a campaign manager as a sign that Wiper is professionalising its campaign machinery well ahead of the election season.

The move comes at a time when political parties are increasingly investing in structured campaign operations, data-driven voter outreach and nationwide grassroots mobilisation.

We are seeking a highly organised Campaign Manager to lead planning and execution of campaign activities.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to coordinate teams effectively to deliver impactful results. pic.twitter.com/sF8uBPO4TM
— The Wiper Patriotic Front (@TheWiperParty) June 27, 2026

Kalonzo Steps Up 2027 Preparations

Kalonzo has in recent months stepped up his nationwide political engagements, holding meetings with opposition leaders, grassroots supporters and civil society groups as preparations for the next election gather pace.

The Wiper leader has repeatedly declared his intention to contest the presidency, insisting that he remains committed to offering Kenyans what he describes as an alternative leadership agenda centred on economic recovery, constitutionalism and good governance.

His campaign preparations have also coincided with broader efforts by opposition leaders to strengthen cooperation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Professional Campaign Structure

The decision to advertise such a senior position publicly reflects an increasing trend among political parties to professionalise campaign management by recruiting experienced strategists capable of coordinating complex nationwide operations.

Beyond political messaging, modern presidential campaigns require extensive planning in logistics, communications, fundraising, stakeholder management, volunteer coordination and rapid response to emerging political developments.

The successful applicant is expected to play a central role in coordinating Wiper’s campaign activities across all regions of the country.

Race for State House Begins to Take Shape

Although the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has yet to officially declare the campaign period, political activity across the country has intensified as parties begin positioning themselves for the next presidential contest.

Several leaders have already embarked on nationwide tours, voter mobilisation drives and coalition-building efforts as the race for State House gradually gathers momentum.

Wiper’s latest recruitment drive is expected to fuel speculation about Kalonzo’s campaign strategy and the alliances he may pursue in the run-up to the election.

With the search for a campaign manager now underway, the party appears determined to establish the organisational framework needed to mount what is expected to be one of the most closely watched presidential campaigns in Kenya’s recent political history.

Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has unveiled a 13-point presidential agenda outlining what he describes as a transformative roadmap to restore good governance, revive the economy, and improve the lives of ordinary Kenyans if elected to power.

The agenda, published online, details Kalonzo’s policy priorities across governance, economic recovery, healthcare, education, infrastructure, security and foreign policy as he positions himself ahead of the 2027 General Election.

pic.twitter.com/Nx50DeN1GA
— Kalonzo Musyoka (@skmusyoka) June 7, 2026

In a statement accompanying the launch of the framework, the former Vice President said the plan is aimed at addressing Kenya’s current social, economic and governance challenges while laying the foundation for long-term prosperity.

“This is a comprehensive policy framework anchored on the restoration of good governance, the rule of law and constitutionalism, charting a clear path toward a secure, productive and inclusive Kenya,” Kalonzo said.

Human rights and constitutionalism

At the centre of Kalonzo’s agenda is a commitment to protect constitutionalism, human rights and civil liberties.

The Wiper leader pledged to safeguard the freedoms of all citizens while rebuilding a culture of tolerance, democracy, and respect for dissenting opinions.

He said his administration would prioritize the rule of law and strengthen institutions tasked with protecting constitutional rights and accountability.

Tonight, we open a window into a lifetime of public service and, more
importantly, into a vision for the Kenya we can build together.

Anti-corruption drive

Kalonzo placed the fight against corruption among his top priorities under the banner “Komesha Ufisadi.”

He promised to audit public programmes, recover stolen public funds, and crack down on the misuse of state resources.

According to Kalonzo, resources recovered from corruption would be redirected toward development projects and public services that directly benefit citizens.

The opposition leader argued that corruption remains one of the biggest obstacles to economic growth and efficient service delivery in Kenya.

Economic recovery and cost of living

Addressing the rising cost of living, Kalonzo proposed an economic recovery programme focused on reducing taxes on essential goods and services while stimulating job creation and wage growth.

“Our focus will be on easing the burden on families through practical economic reforms that stimulate growth and create opportunities for all,” he said.

He outlined plans to support businesses, strengthen household purchasing power, and create a more favorable economic environment for investors and entrepreneurs.

Agriculture, SMEs, and tourism

The agenda identifies agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and tourism as key pillars of economic recovery.

Kalonzo pledged to modernise agriculture through expanded irrigation, improved productivity, and support for farmers.

He also promised targeted investments aimed at strengthening SMEs, which he described as critical drivers of employment and innovation.

In tourism, the Wiper leader said his administration would pursue policies to increase investment, market Kenya globally, and boost earnings from the sector.

Infrastructure and energy plans

On infrastructure, Kalonzo proposed an ambitious plan to improve roads, railways, ports, and digital connectivity across the country.

He also pledged to expand Kenya’s energy generation capacity to 6,000 megawatts as part of efforts to support industrialisation and economic growth.

Access to clean water and reliable internet connectivity also features prominently in the agenda.

Education and healthcare reforms

The former Vice President promised wide-ranging reforms in the education sector, including stabilising curriculum reforms, improving school funding, and aligning education with labour market needs.

He said the government must ensure students acquire skills relevant to emerging economic opportunities.

In healthcare, Kalonzo pledged to restructure health financing systems, improve hospital equipment, and strengthen the welfare of healthcare workers.

He argued that efficient and accessible healthcare remains critical to improving the quality of life for Kenyans.

Social protection and public service reforms

The agenda also focuses on strengthening social protection programmes targeting vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and low-income households.

Kalonzo further promised to restore professionalism and merit-based recruitment in the public service, saying appointments should prioritize competence and integrity.

Security and foreign policy

On security, Kalonzo pledged to strengthen community policing, restore professionalism within the police service, and dismantle criminal gangs.

He also emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and international diplomacy, promising to pursue what he described as an “interest-based foreign policy.”

The Wiper leader said Kenya would deepen engagement within the East African Community and the African Union while protecting national interests internationally.

Early positioning for 2027

The unveiling of the 13-point agenda is widely seen as part of Kalonzo’s broader political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections as opposition leaders begin shaping their policy platforms and governance alternatives.

The agenda is expected to fuel debate over governance, economic management, and the direction of the country as political competition gradually intensifies.

Former Vice President and Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has paid an emotional tribute to the late Raila Odinga, describing him as “the President who won but was never declared.”

In a heartfelt condolence message released from London, United Kingdom, where he is on a 10-day official visit, Kalonzo said he received the news of Raila’s passing upon arrival at Heathrow International Airport, calling it “devastating and deeply personal.”

“Raila Odinga, fondly referred to as ‘Baba’ by his supporters, was more than an enigma. He was a force of nature that kept going despite all the hurdles put in front of him,” Kalonzo said.

The former Vice President eulogized Raila as a patriot, pan-Africanist, and democrat who sacrificed his freedom and comfort for Kenya’s democracy. He recalled that Raila was the longest-serving political detainee in Kenya’s history, whose courage and resilience defined the nation’s struggle for multiparty democracy.

“At each point of release from detention, he would raise his arms to the heavens, his fist clenched in determination, resolved that the tears and scars he suffered would yield democracy and freedom for Kenya. That is why we call him the Champion of the Second Liberation,” Kalonzo wrote.

Kalonzo described their decades-long political partnership as one built on shared ideals and mutual respect. He recounted working closely with Raila as his running mate in the CORD and NASA coalitions, as well as a partner in the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya Coalition.

“We learnt a lot from each other and shared a lot of pain together,” he noted, adding that Raila’s role in championing the 2010 Constitution was “instrumental in devolving power from an imperial presidency to a people-centered constitutional order.”

In his message, Kalonzo also extended condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, and the entire Odinga family — Rosemary, Raila Junior, and Winnie — saying that the nation stands in solidarity with them.

“Kenya has lost an exemplary leader, the President who won but was never declared and sworn into office. The loss of Raila Odinga is not only a loss to his family and country, but also to the entire African continent,” Kalonzo said.

He further announced that he would rearrange his schedule in the UK to honor Raila’s memory and participate in the national mourning period once he returns to Kenya.

“I will miss my brother and friend dearly. May God rest the soul of Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga in everlasting peace,” Kalonzo concluded.

The Raila Odinga Secretariat has come out strongly to dismiss rumors circulating online about the health of former Prime Minister and ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga, terming the claims “malicious misinformation” driven by political rivals.

In a hard-hitting statement released on Sunday, Odinga’s Communications Director Dennis Onyango accused a faction led by impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alongside Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, of orchestrating a coordinated disinformation campaign.

“The political formation of impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his struggling team of Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa, among others, are on a familiar campaign of misinformation on the health of former Prime Minister and ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga,” Onyango stated.

He alleged that the group had co-opted sections of traditional media to amplify false reports originating from bloggers and even AI-generated images, portraying them as breaking news.

According to Onyango, the rumors are a continuation of the same smear campaign waged against Odinga earlier this year during his bid for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission (AUC), to exploit Odinga’s popularity for political leverage.

“The misinformation is broadcast by the same team that went on a frenzy against Hon. Raila’s bid for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission earlier this year. Gachagua, Kalonzo & co have co-opted sections of the traditional media that are happily picking feeds from bloggers, including AI-generated images, and broadcasting them as some kind of investigative Breaking News,” the statement read.

“The hope of this team then and now is to bully Hon. Raila to provide a back for them to ride on in their struggle against President William Ruto.”

Raila’s whereabouts

Onyango clarified that Raila Odinga is in good health and recently travelled abroad on a private trip — one of several he has made this year. He dismissed claims that the ODM leader had been flown to Europe for medical reasons.

“The facts are as follows. Hon. Raila has a strong tradition of being open and generous with the country on matters of his health,” Onyango said.

OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION pic.twitter.com/WeAiCUblct
— The ODM Party (@TheODMparty) October 5, 2025

He reminded Kenyans of Odinga’s consistent openness regarding his health in the past, citing public disclosures during his 2010 hospitalization as Prime Minister and his 2021 Covid-19 diagnosis while in the opposition.

“He told the country that he was undergoing a procedure when he was hospitalized as the sitting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya in June 2010. He told the country that he was diagnosed with COVID and hospitalized as the Opposition leader in 2021. He would do the same today were he to be in the health situation his opponents wish,” the statement read.

“Hon. Raila travelled out of the country on Friday evening – one of the many trips he has made this year, and definitely not the last. He definitely did not travel to Europe, as picked from bloggers and broadcast by some media houses. He is not indisposed, as prayed for by his frustrated opponents.”

Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party has unveiled its team that will face President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza in the bi-partisan parliamentary talks.

The Azimio team on Thursday held its Parliamentary Group meeting at the Stoni Athi hotel in Machakos County.

During the PG meeting, Azimio unveiled a team of seven allies that will lead in the negotiations with the ruling government.

The list of seven consists of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, his Narok counterpart Ledama Olekina, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, Amina Mnyanzi (Malindi), Millie Odhiambo (Suba North), David PKosing (Pokot South) and Otiende Amollo (Rarieda).

The meeting that was chaired by Raila was also attended by the coalition’s top leadership including Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and her Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and KANU chairman Gideon Moi sent their apologies for failing to attend.

President William Ruto last week urged the opposition to call of the Monday and Thursday demonstrations, proposing a bipartisan approach to the issues raised by Azimio team.

Raila has, however, threatened to call for the demonstrations should the Ruto team show lack of seriousness in the negotiations.

The ODM party leader has proposed a National Accord approach as it was in 2008 during the post-election violence.

President Ruto’s allies have, however, vowed not to allow the national accord approach proposed by the former prime minister.

They argue that Raila wants to force his way into the government through a grand coalition form of government.

The Raila-led faction has reiterated the need to have the team expanded outside parliament as they maintained that they were not interested in sharing the government.

Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza has not yet released its list of the negotiators.

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has sent a piece of advice to Wiper Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Through his official Twitter account, the Bungoma senator who is also a Kenya Kwanza Alliance co-principal told Kalonzo not to allow political turncoats to shape his destiny.

Wetang’ula advised the former Vice President to think carefully before entering any coaltion deal with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He cited the history of betrayal and deceit, plus the arrogance being displayed as reasons why Kalonzo should turn down any calls for him to board the Azimio La Umoja train.

“My dear brother and friend Vp Kalonzo don’t allow political turncoats to shape your destiny. With the history of betrayal and deceit, plus the arrogance being displayed, think carefully before you enter the tent,” tweeted Wetang’ula.

My dear brother and friend Vp Kalonzo don’t allow political turncoats to shape your destiny.

Kalonzo has remained indecisive on whether to go alone, join Deputy President William Ruto’s side or Raila’s side.

Wetang’ula’s advice comes just hours after Kalonzo hosted his OKA counterpart Gideon Moi and Jimmy Kibaki who is the party leader of the New Democrats Party.

Kanu party leader Gideon Moi earlier today denied the media reports that the party was planning to ditch One Kenya Alliance (OKA) for Azimio la Umoja.

In a statement, the Kanu chairman said the party is firmly in OKA.

He has further said that OKA was united as a coalition, “and we have taken a common position that our talks with the Azimio and any other parties, must be structured, open and honest if we are to make progress.”

Gideon Moi has said that sentiments by Party Secretary-General Nick Salat, including the declaration that the party will attend the Azimio coalition NDC on Saturday, were his personal opinions.

Kanduyi member of parliament Wafula Wamunyinyi who adds up as the party leader of the Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) has said that the Azimio La Umoja coalition does not need Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to win the August presidential election.

Wamunyinyi told off Kalonzo, noting that ODM leader Raila Odinga does not need his support to become the next President of Kenya.

Speaking while giving out a 30 million bursary to help the less fortunate students in his constituency at the CDF offices, Wamunyinyi said that the DAP-K party is fully in AZIMIO and Kalonzo should not drag things from the past to cause havoc in the coalition.

The law maker said that Kalonzo is aware that NASA died a long time ago and he should not use the agreements that were made there and apply them on AZIMIO.

According to Wamunyinyi, Kalonzo played a key role in demolishing NASA and he shouldn’t move forward from that.

“We all know that Baba is going to win these elections with or without Kalonzo. We just accepted him because we want to move forward together as a country. He should not bring up conditions because we already resolved and we already know that our presidential candidate is Raila,” he said.

This comes days after Kalonzo claimed that while in NASA, they had an agreement document dubbed “NASA DEAL” which stated that Raila was to pull his weight behind Kalonzo in 2022 weather he wins or not, as a presidential candidate and it was effective until 2022 and now Raila should honor the agreement and let him take over as a presidential candidate.

Wamunyinyi went further to say that by Kalonzo standing in between the 2007 election, it made it difficult to determine the president which led to post election violence asking him to stop being undecided and join whatever side he wants so that the country can have peaceful elections.

Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala has threatened to dump the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) should the coalition associate itself with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The vocal lawmaker told off the former Premier to cease from deceiving other leaders for his own benefits.

Speaking while addressing locals in Bungoma town during the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) people’s tour of the the Western region on Friday November 26, 2021, Malala urged other leaders to refuse the mind games played by Raila.

The first time senator noted that Raila’s political game ends up benefitting him and his people alone.

Malala’s rant comes days after Raila attended the Wiper party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) at the Kasarani Gymnasium where Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was endorsed as the party’s flag bearer in the coming 2022 general elections.

Malala noted that in 2017, Western Kenya leaders united to support NASA whose flag bearer was Raila, who then went into a political marriage with President Kenyatta through the famous March 2018 handshake without consulting his co-principals.

The lawmaker argued that Raila was given Kshs. 250 billion to build up his supporters, but he instead went ahead to use the money for his own benefit.

“I want Wetangula, Mudavadi and Kalonzo to learn a lesson from Raila after he went into agreement with President Kenyatta he forgot about NASA issues,” he said.

According to Malala, Raila used the alleged funds to build his Kisumu region, neglecting the western region.

He warned that OKA supporters would defect to other alliances should the coalition bring the Orange party on board.

“If you are going to unite independently as One Kenya Alliance (OKA) we are going to support you but if you are going to include ODM then we promise to decamp,” he said.

In presence was the Bungoma senator Moses Masika Wetangula who noted that people should have faith in One Kenya Alliance for it is the one going to form the next government in 2022.

Wetang’ula further noted that OKA will not betray Kenyans but instead bring equity, employment and change
among Kenyans.

Also present during the OKA tour of the Bungoma County was ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, his KANU counterpart Gideon Moi, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka and former Presidential aspirant Cyrus Jirongo.

Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga might have suffered a blow after One Kenya Alliance Principals made a new move to bar him from re-uniting with them.

The team has revealed that they will sign a coalition agreement that prevents them from joining any political coalition.

Sources have revealed that OKA technical committee are working tirelessly to have a coalition agreement signed by the principals as soon as possible.

The agreement will bring together six senior political bigwigs in the country, that is, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, KANU’s Gideon Moi, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and Cyrus Jirongo who recently joined the alliance.

Kimilili MP Chris Wamalwa has said that the technical committee has finalized the coalition’s instrument which seeks to bring the principals together.

The news about this coalition agreement comes a day after Kalonzo Musyoka vowed never to back Raila in his presidential bid. He said it is time for the ODM chief to support him having done the same for him in the last two elections.

Kalonzo also urged Raila to retire from politics noting that he is old enough to go home. Kalonzo expressed confidence that OKA is becoming a serious political challenger in 2022 contest and urged other political parties to join them.

Ever since president Uhuru Kenyatta started meeting ODM leader Raila Odinga and Okoa Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals for a possible coalition ahead of 2022, the details of his meeting has been leaking.

Former State House employee Dennis Itumbi who currently works as Deputy President William Ruto’s aide has been leaking the meeting’s details through his official social media accounts.

When President Kenyatta met Raila alongside ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula, Kanu’s Gideon Moi and Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya in Mombasa last week, Itumbi who runs Hustler Nation Intelligence Bureau leaked the details of the meeting to the public, through his Facebook account.

It has now emerged that there has been a mole among the politicians who have been meeting President Kenyatta. The mole, who is among the OKA co-principals, leaks the information to DP Ruto’s camp immediately after the meeting.

Details now indicate that the High-Ranking Politician was last weekend given a dressing-down by a senior senator who accused him of being a mole.

He was accused of leaking the contents of high-level and sensitive meetings to an operative of the opposing camp.

The senator complained that when President Kenyatta and ODM boss met alone early this month, there was no leakage.

But when the leader was privy to the deliberations of the delegation that met the President in Mombasa, all the details and speculation spilt out.

The senator told the leader to his face that he was holding brief for their opponents and that the time had come to blow his cover.

Whom do you think is the mole among the leaders who met Uhuru in Mombasa last week?

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has formally exited the National Super Alliance (NASA).

The move comes just days after Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper Movement formerly exited the coalition that was used by ODM leader Raila Odinga to contest for presidency during the 2017 general elections.

ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna in a statement disclosed that the Orange party held a meeting on Thursday, July 29, and made the resolution to quit the NASA relationship.

ODM held a National Executive Committee meeting to deliberate on, among other things, the party’s 2022 presidential candidate.

The ODM Party NEC has resolved that the party formally exit the NASA Coalition.

We shall now embark on a new, inclusive and futuristic political trajectory.

I’m impressed by team's enthusiasm in promoting our party’s social justice agenda. pic.twitter.com/JyjByQGsYw
— Raila Odinga (@RailaOdinga) July 29, 2021

According to Sifuna, ODM intends to embark on a programme to build new partnerships. The party will also extend the ongoing talks with its potential partners to the grassroots.

Sifuna added that the party deliberated on the future and its need to build new partnerships.

“To this end regional meetings and engagements have been planned with like-minded parties,” he concluded.

The coalition agreement between the partners indicates that NASA would cease to exist if at least three constituent parties formally exit.

NASA coalition has faced challenges since 2018 due to mistrust among the parties and competing interests among; Wiper Democratic Movement, ODM, ANC and Ford Kenya parties.

Early this week, the former Prime Minister agreed to share political parties’ funds after four years of a standoff.

Despite all this, Kalonzo has ruled out playing second fiddle to anyone in the next year’s polls despite ODM unveiling the cash.

At a press conference Monday, Kalonzo revealed that Raila had written a letter informing them of the decision to share the party’s millions.

Raila and Kalonzo have had an on-and-off relationship over the years since 2002.

They teamed up when the late President Daniel Moi endorsed Uhuru Kenyatta for the top seat and left Kanu to support retired President Mwai Kibaki under the Liberal Democratic Party, then an affiliate of Narc—the coalition that decisively defeated Kanu.

As the 2007 general election approached, the two went separate ways, with Raila seeking the presidency on the ODM ticket as Kalonzo flew the ODM Kenya’s flag. ODM Kenya rebranded into Wiper Democratic Party.

Election results were disputed leading to the formation of the Grand Coalition government, with Raila serving as Prime Minister and Kalonzo as Vice President.

The two did not see eye to eye for the better part of the coalition government.

ODM leader Raila Odinga’s key strategist in the 2017 general election Norman Magaya has joined Wiper movement as Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2022 strategist.

The move comes just days after the wiper leader announced that his party had officially exited the National Super Alliance (NASA), in which Magaya acted as the CEO during the last elections.

According to reports from reliable sources, the Nasa CEO will be Kalonzo’s political adviser and will be tasked with writing press releases as well as being in charge of the party leader’s political strategies.

He will also be crucial in advising Kalonzo on coalition building and management ahead of the 2022 general election.

The Nasa CEO was unveiled on the day Wiper unanimously resolved to leave the opposition coalition for One Kenya Alliance.

Kalonzo who has maintained that he will not act as anyone’s number 2 in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta also named Justine Kyambi as the new Wiper executive director.

Kyambi takes over from university don Dr Jared Maaka Siso.

Siso is venturing into politics and will be contesting the Borabu parliamentary seat on a Wiper ticket during next year’s polls.

The current Borabu MP Ben Momanyi who was also elected on Wiper ticket has announced he will be contesting the Nyamira governor seat.

The Nasa CEO was unveiled on the day Wiper unanimously resolved to leave the opposition coalition for One Kenya Alliance.

Wiper Democratic Movement deputy party leader Farah Maalim has claimed that Deputy President William Ruto will clinch the 2022 presidential polls.

Speaking on Monday July 26, 2021 during a morning talk show on TV 47, the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly expressed his dislike against DP Ruto, but maintained that he will win the race should he run against ODM leader Raila Odinga.

According to Farah Maalim, an exposition that has supposedly been the saving grace for former Prime Minister would not be at play in the 2022 General Election.

“If it’s going to be a race between Ruto and Raila, I don’t like Ruto and I will never vote for him but he will win at 10am in the morning,” he said.

He further argued that the support currently enjoyed by Raila stemmed from the disillusionment of other tribes that have had to endure a seemingly unending leadership by pundits from Central Kenya.

"If it's going to be a race between Ruto and Raila, I don't like Ruto and I will never vote for him but he will win at 10am in the morning."- Farah Maalim (Former Deputy Speaker)#MorningCafeTV47 pic.twitter.com/DKODZ9O7gj
— TV47 Kenya (@tv47ke) July 26, 2021

He justified this claim by adding that in the event that Raila faced a presidential candidate from a region besides Mt. Kenya, his messianic aura would deplete in a flash.

Maalim also emphasized that Ruto ignited a class war, banking on support by impoverished and disenfranchised groups in his tours across Central Kenya.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has told the NASA co-principals to forget Raila Odinga’s support in 2022.

The Orange party’s secretary-general Edwin Sifuna on Tuesday, January 26 challenged Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka to stop dreaming of being endorsed by Raila in 2022.

Instead, Sifuna has asked the leaders to take advantage of ODM’s public notice and apply to be the party flagbearer for 2022 State House bid.

A fortnight ago, politicians across the divide used the funeral service of Mudavadi’s mother to drum up support for his candidature for the top seat ahead of next year’s polls.

“If you know you cannot win without Baba’s support this is your chance. Come into his house, pick forms, apply, sit and wait. Or forever hold your peace,” Sifuna added.

In an advert placed in local dailies on Sunday, ODM elections board, chaired by Dr Catherine Mumma, asked members to send applications to National Elections Board if they want to be the party’s presidential candidate for 2022 General Election.

Mumma said interested candidates must pay Sh1 million non-refundable fee to the ODM account held at Kenya Commercial bank, Lavington branch.

Further, each applicant will be required to present the evidence of the payment to the party’s headquarters.

Yesterday, Mudavadi sustained his attacks on Raila, accusing him of breaching a promise he made in 2017 not to again contest the presidency.

Mudavadi said he had stood with Raila in his presidential bids over the years and it was time the ODM leader reciprocated.

Reports earlier indicated that Nasa was considering fielding one candidate to run against Ruto.

Nasa imploded following the March 9, 2018, handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mudavadi said he won’t support any other person and criticised Raila for reneging on his 2017 promise to run for the last time.

“He said in 2017 that he had one bullet. He has now abandoned his gun because it has no bullets, and now he has taken another person’s gun because he wants to load bullets,” he said.

Mudavadi spoke on Sunday in Matungu when he campaigned for his ANC candidate Peter Nabulindo. He addressed supporters at Mukhweya, Namulungu and Mirere centres.

Mudavadi also accused Deputy President William Ruto of dishonesty, deceit and disrespect to Kenyans and President Kenyatta.

He termed the DP’s support of the recently launched UDA party as a mockery of the tenets of democracy and party loyalty.

The ANC boss said the DP cannot distance himself from the undertakings of the Jubilee party and the government he formed together with Uhuru.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday, January 22 caused a stir online after speaking on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s visit to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.

The former Vice President presented himself to the DCI to clarify claims that he had grabbed land in Yatta belonging to the National Youth Service (NYS).

This is after Deputy President William Ruto while in Bomet last Friday made claims that Kalonzo had grabbed a 200-acre government land in Yatta.

But Kalonzo dismissed the claims as wild and constituted character assassination.

In a communique on Friday, Kalonzo presented himself at 8:30am to 9am at the DCI concerning the ownership of the land.

He was having in his possession all the legal/official documents showing how he acquired the said property.

However, Murkomen has dismissed Kalonzo’s move and asked Kenyans to ignore.

Through a post on his official Twitter account, Mujrkomen questioned why Kalonzo had chosen DCI and not Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC), which has the specialized mandate on matters corruption.

He further argued that a suspect cannot choose an investigator for himself/herself.

According to Murkomen, Kalonzo went to meet DCI boss George Kinoti to do away with the matter.

“So Kalonzo Musyoka is a real SUSPECT? If he is a corruption suspect why did he choose to go to DCI and not EACC which has the specialized mandate on matters corruption? Can a suspect choose his investigator? The reason why he went to see Kinoti is simple- DRY CLEANING.IGNORE!” Murkomen tweeted.

So Kalonzo Musyoka is a real SUSPECT?

Kalonzo had earlier on said he was ready to be investigated by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for the public to know the truth.

He said DP Ruto to follow suit and present himself before the same authorities for scrutiny.

Kalonzo’s utterances caused mixed reactions as politicians allied to the Deputy President rushed to defend Ruto while those allied to Musyoka defended the Ukambani political kingpin.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu defended Musyoka, stating the attack on him was ill-advised.

The former Lands Cabinet Secretary said the allegations by Deputy President William Ruto are “false because Kalonzo owns the land legally”.

“As a Minister of lands, I checked the details of that land and I found that Kalonzo had acquired that land very well,” Ngilu said.

She accused the DP of tarnishing Musyoka’s name by playing politics of land grabbing.

Ruto and Kalonzo are both eyeing the Presidency in 2022.

The two are also fighting to replace the late Senator Boniface Kabaka’s position in Machakos with their preferred candidates.

Kalonzo unveiled former Senator Johnston Muthama’s estranged wife Agnes Kavindu as Wiper’s candidate for the senatorial by election slated for March 18 while Ruto through his party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is supporting businessman Urbanus Muthama in what has intensified their rivalry.

Former Nairobi County Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke has resigned from the Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper Democratic Movement – Kenya.

In a letter dated September 4, 2020, Mueke also resigned from the party’s National Executive Council, and as an ordinary party member.

Mueke thanked the Wiper Movement for granting him a chance to run as the party’s flag bearer as he ran for Westlands parliamentary seat in 2007 and as former governor Evans Kidero’s deputy in 2013 and 2017 general elections.

In his resignation letter, Mueke cited that Kenya’s evolving political landscape, coupled with the kind of change required to bring the promise of a better tomorrow for Kenya’s youthful population has forced him to pursue a different political path than what Wiper currently represents.

Over the recent past, several politicians have been seen ditch their political parties, with them failing to publicly declare their next political destination.

Former Amani National Congress (ANC) party secretary General Barrack Muluka last month resigned from the Musalia Mudavadii-led party, saying that he did so to give the party boss enough political space.

Few days later, former ODM leader Raila Odinga political strategist Eliud Owalo also tendered his resignation from ANC, citing similar reasons as those of Muluka.

Ditching political parties is however, expected to be witnessed more as politicians continue to realign themselves ahead of 2022 general election.

Jubilee party Vice Chairman David Murathe has asked Wiper Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka not to run for Presidency come 2022.

Instead, Murathe wants Kalonzo, whose party is a member of the NASA coalition, to step aside and let Kenyans make ODM party leader Raila Odinga a one term President.

In an exclusive interview with KTN last evening, Murathe said it is time to reward Raila for all his struggles and sacrifices for the country’s democratic growth and progress.

Raila would then be a one-term transitional president who will clear the way for generation change in Kenya’s political order. Murathe is listed among the eight men shaping President Uhuru Kenyatta succession politics.

According to him, it should by now be a forgone conclusion that Raila will be on the ballot.

“Untill Kalonzo moves from the Nasa coalition, what we are doing is co-operating. Just like we are co-operating with ODM. I don’t know what the arrangement is on the Nasa side but if you ask me I would like him (Kalonzo) to also let Raila run,” he said.

In an interview with Daily Nation last month, Kalonzo said he has a secret pact with Raila on how they will work together in 2022.

He said the pact is separate from the 2017 National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition agreement that included Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford-Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula and Chama Cha Mashinani’s Isaac Ruto.

According to Kalonzo, even though Nasa is dead, he has signed an agreement with Raila on how they will approach the 2022 elections.

He however, refused to disclose details of the deal, but said it was entered into without the knowledge of the other Nasa principals.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna later dismissed the claims, saying that ODM had no any political deal with Kalonzo ahead of 2022.

Kalonzo however, maintained that his deal with Raila was intact, arguing that he was sober while making his claims in the interview with Daily Nation.
