Former nominated Senator and 2022 Nairobi Woman Representative aspirant, Millicent Omanga, has officially left the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and joined the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), signaling a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made by the DCP leader and former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, who welcomed Omanga to the party, hailing her as “Mama Miradi” for her grassroots development initiatives and people-focused leadership.

In a statement shared on X on Thursday, March 19, 2026, Gachagua emphasised that DCP is committed to citizen-centered politics, asserting that the party “listens to the people every step of the way and leaves no Kenyan behind.”

“Welcome to DCP Party Senator Millicent Omanga, Mama Miradi. Our party stands with the people; we listen to them every step of the way and this is the home for people-oriented leadership. We recognize and affirm every citizen of Kenya and we leave no Kenyan behind,” Gachagua stated.

He described Omanga’s move as a boost to the party’s efforts to expand its national footprint and strengthen its grassroots engagement.

Her departure from UDA, where she previously contested the Nairobi Woman Representative seat, is seen as a strategic move ahead of the 2027 elections.

Omanga’s shift could reshape alliances in Nairobi politics, especially as parties consolidate support bases ahead of the next general election.

Omanga’s latest car acquisition comes months after she bought a new Bentley Bentayga.

Omanga, on Monday, November 11, 2024, shared a video on her official Instagram account test-driving the Bentley Bentayga at an undisclosed location.

She accompanied the video with captions that suggested she was the owner of the new luxury vehicle, which was also still displaying the Kenya Dealers registration plate.

Omanga further shared a Bible verse, attributing her latest car acquisition to God.

The now viral city chips vendor Beverlyne Kwamboka has hit out at nominated senator Millicent Omanga for faking business sponsorship on her.

Taking to her official Twitter handle on Thursday October 7, 2021, Kwamboka who came to the limelight after after Kenyans rebuked her for wearing a short dress clarified that Omanga only gave out Irish potatoes worth Kshs.350.

The team that had been sent by the politician allegedly took photos with some other sacks of potatoes and then returned them to their vehicle.

They also gave out two aprons branded with Omanga’s campaign colors and slogans.

“For clarification, team @MillicentOmanga only bought waru za 350 came out of the vehicle with 5 umbrellas, took photos returned them and gave out one and two aprons. Hiyo mambo ya cash haikua plus stock ni ya 350. Hizo waru gunia kubwa i had bought and started the day,” Kwamboka posted.

Early this week, Omanga on social media insinuated that she had provided her with stock and cash to boost her business.

“Bevalyne Kwamboka is now sorted. Umbrella, cash and stock to boost her hustle. Mvua au jua haitamharibia biashara tena. Now let’s go eat those chips,” she said.

Omanga said she’s going to help the lady who confessed that she sells chips to fund her college education.

Nominated senator Millicent Omanga has badly attacked Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha over his announcement on opening of schools.

Omanga in a Tuesday night tweet took on the CS, arguing that it was not in order for him to give parents only five days to prepare for the phased reopening of schools.

Schools across the country are set to begin a phased reopening on October 12.

CS Magoha on Tuesday ordered Grade 4, Class 8 and Form 4 student back to classes after a 205-day hiatus occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.

Already, teachers are in their second week of school with no learners.

However, Omanga argues that CS Magoha is incompetent. She says that many parents have been out of work for over 7 months, with some losing their businesses which are now trying to catch up.

It is because of this reason that Omanga says it is impossible for parents to prepare within the five given days.

According to Omanga, Covid-19 has badly exposed CS Magoha’s ‘stinking incompetence’ in the education ministry.

“Many parents have been out of work for over 7 months. Businesses are trying to catch up. And you’re giving parents 5 days to prepare for reopening of schools? If there’s one thing COVID-19 has exposed in the education ministry, it is George Magoha’s stinking incompetence,” she tweeted.

President Uhuru Kenyatta led Jubilee party has expelled all the nominated senators who skipped the Parliamentary Group meeting held at State House.

Jubilee is further set to take action against rebels in parliament including recall.

The senators that have been shown the door are Falhada Dekow Iman, Naomi Jillo Waqo, Victor Prengei, Mary Seneta Yiane and Millicent Omanga.

According to Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju , they were expelled for Gross insubordination, Gross misconduct and received messages, did not even bother to send apologies for not attending meeting.

Wednesday morning, Dailytrends.co.ke had run a story listing the five senators that were set to be shown the door at Jubilee.

Uhuru’s allies say they will invoke the Political Parties Act, the Jubilee constitution and the Elections Act to replace the defiant nominated senators who are said to proclaim their loyalty to Ruto.

Show-cause letters have been sent to the targetted senators and they are expected to face a disciplinary committee as early as next week.

The Political Parties Act provides that a member may only be expelled from the party if the member has infringed the constitution of the party.

According to Section 14(7) of the Act, the said member must be afforded a fair hearing in accordance with the internal party disputes resolution mechanisms as prescribed in the constitution of the party.

Uhuru’s lieutenants believe that by undermining the President, who is the party leader, the rebels have acted in breach of the party’s supreme document.

Barely hours after a Nairobi nominated Member of County Assembly lost her seat after missing plenary sittings for two years, a Jubilee senator has fiercely reprimanded Speaker Beatrice Elachi for declaring her seat vacant.

Nominated Jubilee Senator Millicent Omanga has jumped to the defense of the MCA, giving reasons as to why the MCA had missed the sittings.

Senator Omanga through her social media handles has posted a comprehensive statement backed with hospital records, revealing that 28-year-old Habiba Hussein has been in and out of hospital since she lost her newborn daughter in 2018.

“I am deeply shocked and saddened by media reports that I have come across by the speaker Nairobi City County Assembly and Hon. Alvin Palapala Mca accused of diverting bursary funds ment for needy students to a private company making fun of a tragic situation that has befallen a fellow woman and one of their colleagues, Hon. Habiba Hussein.

“As a woman, I do not understand how inhuman, selfish and insensitive some people can get, just to earn some cheap political mileage out of a tragedy.

“From the information and records in my possession, Hon. Habiba carried a challenging and complicated pregnancy to term, and delivered a baby girl Shadia, through a Caesarean Procedure, on November 21, 2018.

“Unfortunately, the baby was born with heart complications that are suspected to have arisen from the treatment the mother was undergoing during the pregnancy. Since Hon. Habiba could not undergo intense scanning that involved radiology during the pregnancy, she was put under medication for ulcers for most of the pregnancy duration, while that was not what she was suffering from.

“Despite the dedicated efforts by the doctors, Baby Shadia’s condition deteriorated due to a blocked A-V valve, and she died a few hours after birth, on the 23rd November 2018.

“Nothing is as devastating to any mother as the loss of child, and the death of Baby Shadia only aggravated the illness of Hon. Habiba.

“Ever since, Hon. Habiba has been admitted to hospital severally, the first time being barely four (3) months after delivery, when she underwent a surgery to remove her gallbladder and fibroids.

“During his 17 months sickness Hon. Habiba has been in and our of different hospitals under the care of the following Doctors: Dr. Sequiera Evan Gynaecologist (Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi), Dr. Nathan Gatheru Thagana Gyaenogolost (Nairobi Hospital), Dr. Zipporah Gatheru (paedetrician who took care of the baby after delivery), Dr. Naomi Gachara (baby Shadia’s cardiologist before she died), Dr Mahesh Chudasama (Mombasa Hospital), Dr. Swabra Swaleh (Premier Hospital, Nyali), alongside many others. Detailed medical reports are hereby attached to show their “interactions with Hon. Habiba and the subsequent treatments.

“It therefore breaks my heart, as a mother and a woman, when people choose to politicize the pain and agony that Hon. Habiba has undergone in the last two years, simply because they have been implicated in stealing bursary funds meant for poor and orphaned children.

“To attack a woman, for simply being woman, is not only unacceptable but almost Satanic.

“That is why, for me, it is beyond comprehension how Hon. Beatrice Elachi, the Nairobi City County Assembly Speaker and a fellow woman, allowed such a reckless and irresponsible statement to be made on the floor of the House, without a bother to demand for authentication of the wild claims that were made. To me, on this particular issue, she comes off as the classic example of women being the worst enemies of their fellow women, and she owed the women of Kenya an apology.

“As the Nairobi City County Nominated Senator, I demand an unconditional apology from the Kitisuru Ward MCA, Hon. Alvin Palala, and his associates for degrading, disrespecting and demeaning women, especially at their most painful and vulnerable time.

“The least Hon. Habiba deserves is support and sympathy as she recovers from the painful loss of her child, while she undergoes her treatment, where she was admitted in hospital as recently as February 2020.

“This culture of attacking women is not only barbaric, but unacceptable in the 21st Century, and I wish to urge all leaders and Kenyans at large to desist from this despicable trend of diverting attention from the real issues by dragging innocent women into their woes.

“Let Hon. Palapala and his ilk refund all the monies they have stolen from innocent orphans and poor children, and keep women out of their shenanigans.

“I also call upon the DCI and EACC to move with speed and get to the bottom of the bursary scandal in Nairobi that has been unearthed through the trending voice clip.

“My prayers are with Hon. Habiba and her family. May God comfort and heal you.
