COTU boss Francis Atwoli’s son Dr Lukoye Atwoli, a School of Medicine dean at Moi University has issued a resignation notice indicating he is no longer interested in occupying the office.

Dr Atwoli disclosed he resigned from the position effective immediately citing frustration by colleagues and the university’s management as the main reason why he decided to exit the office.

According to a local daily, Atwoli revealed the past 18 months has been hell on earth for him and that he could not take it anymore.

“I have found myself in impossible position which I no longer command the trust or respect of you, my colleagues, and that of the university management and presumably the council as well. The result is that I have to watch as our students waste away in despondency while I have nothing to tell them about their fate. For those I may have wronged over the past five years, I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me. I have not been wronged by any of you in your capacity as HoDs, I can declare that here. I thank you and wish you all well. I will be exiting this group first thing tomorrow morning,” he said.

Dr Lukoye Atwoli is also an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Mental Health,School of Medicine, Moi University College of Health Sciences.

He is also a Consultant Psychiatrist at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and at the Academic Model Providing Access To Healthcare (AMPATH)

He is also  In-Charge of Mental health Services at Centre for Assault Recovery- Eldoret(CAR-E) (a specialized centre for sexual and gender-based violence)
