A year after Kenyans went to the ballot to elect various political leaders, 15 Members of Parliament have not uttered a word on the floor of the house.

According to the 13th parliament first scorecard released by Mzalendo Trust, a non-partisan entity that keeps an eye on Kenyan Parliament, there are MPs who have not made their maiden speeches.

Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, his Makadara counterpart George Aladwa Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama have not uttered a word in Parliament since their election on August 9, 2022.

Others who have also not spoken a year since being elected are Charles Gimose (Hamisi), Feisal Bader (Msambweni), Innocent Momanyi (Bobasi) and Mohamed Soud (Mvita) and Fred Kapondi (Mt Elgon).

Those who have not yet made their maiden speeches include Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri, his Mvita counterpart Mohamed Soud, Rongai’s Paul Chebor and Vihiga MP Ernest Kagesi.

Others are Joseph Iraya (nominated), Teresia Wanjiru (nominated), Elizabeth Kailemia (Meru County Woman MP), and Muthoni Marubu (Meru County MP).

Mzalendo Trust, which monitors Parliamentary activity, based its findings on Hansard records from September 29, 2022, to June 30, 2023.

Kapsaret MP Oscar Kipchumba Sudi has broken his silence over a media report that claimed that he dropped out of school at class seven.

The Standard Newspaper had on Wednesday, June 22 reported that the lawmaker quit school while in class seven and did not proceed to secondary school.

The newspaper ran the story after Derrick Juma, an investigator from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) told the court that he visited all the schools Sudi claimed to have attended and interviewed the head teachers but the MP’s name was not listed as a student in any of the said schools.

According to the investigator, Sudi’s name only appeared at Luok Ngetuny Primary School in Eldoret where the teachers confirmed that he enrolled in 1995 under the name of Kipchumba Kipng’etich, but that he exited the school at Class Seven.

While responding to the report through his official Twitter account, Sudi said that he deserves to be celebrated if he has managed to get to where he is, as a class seven drop out.

He went ahead to call out Standard Media Group for what he termed as spreading falsehoods.

“If I can manage to this far just as class seven drop out then I deserve to be celebrated. Standard should stop spreading falsehood. Wacheni fitina,” Sudi said.

Sudi is accused of forging a diploma certificate in Business Management, issued by the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and a KCSE certificate and a school leaving certificate from Highway Secondary School.

Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has warned Deputy President William Ruto allies against insulting CS Fred Matiang’i.

DP Ruto’s confidants have been hurling insults against Dr. Matiang’i.

A section of Ruto’s allies, including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi have been abusing Matiang’i and President Uhuru Kenyatta for some days now.

Kibicho, who was addressing the media from Kirinyaga County, said their remarks were baseless, adding that the Ministry was interested in serving Kenyans rather than politicking.

He endorsed sentiments made by Matiang’i when he appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security, saying that the ministry will continue with the rearrangement of security.

“There is a rise in personal attacks directed at some of us, I don’t understand how the politicians will benefit from such utterances,” Kibicho said.

Tangatanga launched the attacks after the CS listed what he claimed were Ruto’s properties and the number of the security detail attached to each.

They sarcastically welcomed the ‘lifestyle audit’, threatened to expose what they called “illegal land dealings by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family”.

Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi is not new to controversy. On several occasions, the controversial lawmaker has found himself on the wrong side of the law.

On Friday, January 22, Sudi found himself in hot soup after he decided to abscond Court.

A Nakuru court was forced to summon the DP William Ruto allied MP after he failed to show up in a hate speech case against him.

Sudi’s hate speech and offensive conduct case hearing was set to proceed today but he failed to attend court. 

Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecution Daniel Karuri made an application for the court to order Sudi arrested. 

Karuri urged Senior Resident Magistrate Benjamin Limo to also compel the lawmaker to attend court. 

Defence counsel Felix Orege informed court that he was unwell and sought another date. 

Orege added that Sudi will avail his medical report in court during the next court appearance. 

Limo dispensed Sudi’s attendance in court on account of sickness and declined to issue an arrest warrant. 

“Instead, summons are hereby issued to the accused to attend court and avail medical documents in support of his disposition on the day he was to attend court,” ruled Limo. 

The prosecution had lined up three police officers from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to testify.

Sudi is charged with two counts of hate speech and one count of offensive conduct.

The MP has denied that he used threatening words on social media, which were likely to stir up ethnic hatred on September 7, 2020, at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya.

He has also denied offensive conduct charges and is out on Sh500,000 bail.

The case has been slated for February 19.

Embattled Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi will remain in police custody for seven more days.

Sudi on Wednesday September 16, 2020 appeared before Nakuru chief magistrate Josephat Kalo after spending another two days in police cells.

The lawmaker this morning appeared for a ruling on his bail that he had sought.

However, he is not yet a free man as police sought to detain him for seven more days to complete investigations.

The prosecution, led by Daniel Karuri, had sought more time to complete investigations into the crimes allegedly committed by the legislator.

Karuri objected to his release on bond, saying he was being investigated for hate speech, assault of a police officer, offensive conduct, unlawful possession of firearm and bullets and resisting arrest.

The MP was on Sunday airlifted to Nakuru minutes after he surrendered at Langas Police Station in Uasin Gishu County.

Sudi was arrested for hate speech, which is under investigation by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission.

This is after he made remarks deemed abusive towards President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family.

His arrest came after a drama involving the police and his constituents who tried to bar the officers from gaining access to his home to arrest him.

He was aided by police to escape as a team of officers arrived at his home.

During the siege, one of the MP’s supporter was shot and injured while a police officer was attacked by a machete.

Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi will spend two more days behind bars.

The controversial lawmaker was on Monday September 14, 2020 remanded till Wednesday September 16, 2020 when his bail ruling will be made at a Nakuru court at 2.30 pm.

Police and National Commission of Integration Commission (NCIC) sought orders to detain the MP to pave way for investigation on five offences ranging from hate speech to resisting arrest.

The prosecution had initially sought to detain Sudi for 14 days to investigate five counts levelled against him by the State.

In an application filed before a Nakuru court on Monday afternoon, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) through an affidavit sworn by Inspector of Police James Akello, the agency says it is investigating Mr Sudi on the five offences.

The embattled Member of Parliament had been on the run from the police dragnet for the better part of the weekend.

Several security officers had camped around the MP’s home since Friday evening in a bid to arrest the MP after addressing members of the public in Eldoret town where he remained defiant.

Sudi was accused of terming some words that were considered disrespectful to the head of State together with his close family.

Nakuru Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo is expected to giver a ruling after listening to arguments from both sides.

Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi is currently being airlifted to Nairobi after surrendering to Police.

The controversial lawmaker on Sunday morning presented himself at Langas police station, a day after a contingent of police unsuccessfully looked for him at his rural home in Kapsaret, Eldoret.

He was in the company of his lawyers Governor Stephen Sang, Gladys Shollei, Jane Masai, Nathan Tororei and Hon Isaac Terer.

The lawmaker through his official Facebook page notified his fans that he had decided to present himself to to police, as a law abiding citizen.

He however, maintained that he was not at home at the time police arrived at his residence on Friday night to arrest him.

Sudi condemned the move by police, saying that it was unnecessary for him to be arrested dramatically with a contingent of police.

Shortly after surrendering, the controversial lawmaker revealed that he was being airlifted to Nairobi, and that he would be landing at Wilson Airport in the next few minutes.

“I’m being airlifted to Nairobi. Will be landing at Wilson Airport shortly,” he posted on Facebook.

Business mogul and politician Bundotich Kiprop alias Buzeki on Monday September 7, 2020 visited ODM party leader Raila Odinga at his Capitol Hill office.

Buzeki who was in the company of Cherengany MP Joshua Kutuny held a meeting with Raila, whose details have remained scanty.

The former prime minister took to his official social media accounts to say that he had held the meeting with the duo, but did not reveal the details of their meeting.

This comes just a day after Buzeki clashed with Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi.

Buzeki on Saturday engaged in a public spat with MP Oscar Sudi and governor Mandago over 2022 succession politics.

The three met during a fundraiser in Kapseret constituency, Eldoret, where Buzeki insisted he would vie again for the governor’s seat in 2022 and do a better job in ensuring Uasin Gishu becomes a model county. Buzeki lost to Mandago in 2017.

“Mandago, you have done your part and when I take over I will host a grand send-off party for you as you retire. I will then deliver on ensuring unity in Uasin Gishu,” the businessman said.

Buzeki, who was cheered by residents, also criticised some local politicians for repeatedly using DP William Ruto’s name instead of outlining their own performance record.

“Some of you keep on telling us about Ruto everywhere as if people don’t know him. Tell us about your own agenda because everyone here knows Ruto and supports him,” he said.

When MP Sudi rose to speak he told off Buzeki, accusing him of engaging in divisive politics in Uasin Gishu.

“You should seek support without causing divisions among residents of Uasin Gishu,” Sudi said.

He told Buzeki that residents would not vote for him to succeed Mandago in 2022.

Sudi claimed that Buzeki had sold his dairy company and was not the right person to talk about improving the economy of the region.

“These people are not telling you the truth because they will not vote for you come 2022,” Sudi told Buzeki.

Mandago, who spoke last, asked Buzeki to go slow on his political ambitions. The governor said politics would keep on changing, especially if the BBI leads to constitutional changes.

“If BBI will go through, then we will likely have a new Constitution and I will be back seeking to be elected again. I will be back for another fresh term, and I am sure I will win. Buzeki, please go slow because I am not going anywhere,” Mandago said.

He told Buzeki to stop relying on brokers believing they would help him win the governor’s seat.

“Those brokers you go round with are just interested in your money and will not help you with anything. Deal with residents of this region and go slow,” Mandago said.

Deputy President William Ruto his battling for Luo-Nyanza votes as 2022 nears.

Over the weekend, DP Ruto’s allies raided Opposition chief Raila Odinga’s Nyanza backyard by hosting youths from the region.

Through his close ally Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Ruto has been assembling grassroots troops from Nyanza that will campaign for him in the 2022 elections.

In a meeting attended by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and his Bahati counterpart Kimani Ngunjiri, Sudi at the weekend hosted youths from Kisumu, Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay at his rural home in Kapsaret.

Those who attended the rally included youth leaders, women groups and clerics  who previously supported Raila’s presidential campaigns.

The youth were mainly from Kisumu’s Kondele estate, which is a political hotbed in the lakeside city and those from Raila’s Bondo rural home.

Others were from Ahero, Nyakach, Muhoroni and Kendu Bay.

According to a report by a local daily, the youths have formed a movement dubbed “ Nyanza Youth Movement for Ruto 2022” to campaign for Ruto.

On Sunday August 2, 2020, the Kapseret MP told the local daily  that they were determined to raid Raila’s political turf. 

“We are determined to penetrate Luo Nyanza so that we can unlock its residents from the chains of poverty. Our intention is to sell the DP as the best alternative,” he was quoted saying.

Sudi said Kenyans should live together in harmony despite holding divergent political views, citing his relationship with Raila.

“Raila is my friend, even though we have different political views. Just the other day we had lunch as friends,” he said. 

The Kapseret MP also asked leaders not to incite Kenyans against each other.

“There is no day citizens engage in violence on their own, they are usually incited by leaders,” he said. 

On his part, Barasa called on Nyanza residents to shun tribal politics and vote for leaders with a clear development agenda. 

“You do not eat the title of your tribesmen in Government. Your life will not change because your tribesman is in power, your life will only change if the people you elect have a plan to transform lives,” said Barasa.

Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi on Friday July 17, 2020 poked fun at a report that revealed he hadn’t spoken in Parliament since 2017. 

Speaking at a funeral ceremony at Kabenes in Soy Constituency, the vocal Tanga Tanga MP faulted the media for making him the biggest topic yet some lawmakers with interests in 2022 presidential race were in the report as well.

Sudi noted that Baringo senator Gideon Moi has not as well said anything in the senate yet he is in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022.

Sudi went ahead to claim that he can as well content for the 2022’s topmost political seat just like the KANU party leader.

“I have never spoken in Parliament and neither has Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and yet he is the one who they want to make president in 2022, I think even I qualify to run for that seat,” he stated.

According to a Parliamentary Scorecard released by Mzalendo Trust, a Parliamentary Monitoring Organization (PMO), Sudi and his Nakuru Town West counterpart Samuel Arama have made zero contributions in the National Assembly since 2017.

Sudi furthermore declared that he was not interested in being a part of any parliamentary committee under the Jubilee administration.

“I have seen I have been nominated to a committee. I ask that you remove me because I have no desire to serve in any capacity under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We are not beggars, we are the ones who formed the government but it is being driven by corrupt and selfish individuals,” Sudi affirmed.

Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and his Bahati counterpart Kimani Ngunjiri have said they will expose those who murdered IEBC official Chris Msando, days leading to the 2017 general election.

Speaking at a press conference Saturday May 16 in Eldoret, the vocal Rift Valley leaders claimed to have received death threats, thus threatening to reveal Msando killers.

“It’s not a joke and soon we will reveal everything including those who killed Msando and others,” said Sudi.

Sounding a warning to those trying to wreck the ruling party, the MP said they too will not live forever.

Ngunjiri on his part told reporters that he has in the recent past been trailed by unknown persons.

“They can kill me or others and do anything they want but the question is so what after that? The question to them is what next after doing that because we have seen all that happen even before,” Ngunjiri said.

Kapsaret MP Oscar Kipchumba Sudi has been forced to open up on his meeting with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.

Wednesday evening, a section of Kenyan social media users speculated that the vocal Deputy President William Ruto’s ally had met the former Prime Minister in a prominent hotel to plot President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ouster.

The speculations followed Suna East Junet Mohamed’s remarks in Parliament Wednesday afternoon, when he called on President Kenyatta to resign alongside his government if he was not ready to deliver.

Controversial blogger Robert Alai led other Kenyans in speculating, arguing that Sudi had met Raila at Pumpkin restaurant in Kilimani for lunch, only for ODM legislators to demand President Kenyatta’s resignation a few hours later.

The blogger even went further with his speculations, arguing that Raila had told Sudi that he can’t trust President Kenyatta to cross a river with him.

However, Sudi was on the evening of Wednesday forced to take to his social media accounts to open up on the details of his meeting with the African Union envoy.

The lawmaker noted tat he had indeed met Raila at a popular restaurant in Nairobi. He cited that they had lunch together, and thereafter had a chat resolving around personal matters.

He noted that Raila is like a father to him, since he was a close friend of his late son Fidel Odinga. Sudi noted hat he asked Raila about the progress of Fidel’s children and family at large, adding that they don’t have to discuss politics when they meet.

“Earlier today I bumped into Former PM, Raila Odinga having lunch at a popular restaurant. We had lunch together and thereafter chit chats. Raila is like a father to me. We were close buddies with his son the late Fidel Odinga. I asked him about the progress of Fidel’s children and family at large. When I meet him it doesn’t necessarily mean that we discuss politics,” he posted.

Deputy President William Ruto allied MPs are plotting to stop ODM leader Raila Odinga’s BBI reggae in Uasin Gishu County.

The Tanga Tanga lawmakers on Monday warned the former premier against holding BBI consultative forums in the county.

Led by Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi  and his Soy counterpart Caleb Kositany, the Tanga Tanga MPs claimed that they would not allow outsiders to go and spread hate in the county.

“We will not remain silent and allow hate-mongering that has been witnessed in Kitui, Kisii and Mombasa to be transferred to Eldoret. Any meeting must be organised by the leadership of the area, not outsiders,” Sudi told journalists on Monday.

On his part,  Kositany said the region’s leadership will organize its own rallies with the help of the BBI task force which is headed by Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji.

The two have accused Raila of using the BBI to spread hate among Kenyan communities.

They also claim that the forums have been used to demonize Ruto and portray him as a man who is not supporting the handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“If those are the kind of statements made at the rallies, then we can as well say goodbye to such forums in our county because we do not want to polarise the country any further,” Kositany said.

Their claims come just two days after the Narok BBI rally that was held at Ole Ntimama Stadium with its discussions being accused of siding along tribal lines.

No BBI rally had been slated for Eldoret town.

Rift Valley leaders led by Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos and Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny are planning for a rally to be held at Nakuru’s Afuraha Stadium.

The BBI train will pitch camp at Kinoru Stadium in Meru this weekend.  Ruto had indicated that he may attend the function.

But this is now uncertain after he warned Raila and his bandwagon that he may try to stop reggae if they continue inciting Kenyans.

Kapsaret Member of parliament Oscar Sudi has launched a scathing attack on former Jubilee party interim Vice Chairman David Murathe.

Speaking in Eldoret on Saturday, Sudi claimed that Murathe is a renown conman who has been conning the Chinese nationals in Nairobi.

The seemingly furious Sudi was responding to Murathe’s claims that Deputy President Dr William Ruto did not help President Uhuru Kenyatta clinch to power, arguing that the elections were rigged.

In a video shared on his facebook account, Sudi termed Murathe as a foolish politician who failed to win a parliamentary seat.

He challenged Murathe on why he failed to rig the votes to win a parliamentary seat the same way he claimed Uhuru rigged to get to power.

Murathe, the former Gatanga MP, is known as one of the smoothest of political go-betweens for Chinese contractors and the government.

‘Brokerage fees’ and ‘facilitation fees’ for some of the deals, for which Murathe is a high priest, are eye-watering. This is the reason Sudi is perhaps terming him as a renown conman.

Murathe had dismissed the claim that Uhuru is set to retire in 2022.

He argues that the head of state can come back as the Prime Minister of this nation after he completes his tenure in office

The case involving Meru senator Mithika Linturi and his estranged wife Merriane Kitany has taken a new twist after Kitany’s mother’s latest confession.

In her confession, Kitany’s mother has dragged in Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi whom she alleges knelt down before her daughter to propose on behalf of Linturi.

She says Sudi got down on one knee and asked for her daughter’s hand in marriage on behalf of Linturi during a church fundraiser.

“Oscar Sudi even knelt down at the same function and asked for Kitany’s hand in marriage on behalf of Linturi. It was the biggest function. Almost six choppers came for the fundraiser,” she was quoted by a local daily.

on Tuesday narrated how she invited Linturi for a church fundraiser in which he contributed Sh1 million out of the Sh4.2 million raised.

“I thank my son-in-law for coming for a fundraiser before the ceremony in my church,” she said.

Among those present at the fundraiser were Sudi, Elgeyo Marakwet Senaotr Kipchumba Murkomen, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Deputy Preident William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, Energy CS Charles Keter and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang.

Rhoda said Kitany informed her in 2014 that she, Linturi and their children were going to Australia to get to know each other.

In 2016, Kitany told her mother that she and Linturi wanted to visit her home for an introduction and she prepared for the function.

Rhoda said she invited all her friends and family for the occasion.

She said before the wedding, the fundraiser was the first time Linturi went to visit.

During the introduction, Rhoda said Linturi visited accompanied by 19 people and had a pick-up full of food.

Throughout the cross-examination, Rhoda referred to Linturi as ‘mheshimiwa’, saying her culture does not allow her to say the name of her son-in-law.

She said at the traditional wedding, Linturi was asked if he loved her daughter and he told them he did.

Rhoda said Linturi was asked if he was married and he said he was divorced.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has yet again taken a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of alleged hypocrisy, revisiting circumstances surrounding Mau eviction.

The legislature is now reading malice in the eviction, arguing that Uhuru opposed the evictions in 2009 and even attended a fundraiser to help the victims resettle.

The firebrand MP also insisted that Uhuru’s family should consider donating around 7,000 Ha and Daniel Moi’s family 10,000 Ha, adding that the two families own grabbed land.

“My humble request to Uhuru over Mau evictions is that he fundraised for this people when Raila Odinga was chasing them. He came in 2013 and asked them to vote for him. What Happened after 2017 that makes him to plot to kick them away?

“Stop damaging the lives of the poor because you’re not going to contest. Children in Mau are like those in your house. If you want to chase them, you have over 50,000 Ha. Give them around 7,000 because after all the land is not yours,” insisted Sudi.

The government is set to flush out over 10,000 people from the water catchment, a move that has been opposed by a section of leaders from Rift Valley.

Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has asked vocal Jubilee lawmaker belonging to tanga tanga group Hon Oscar Sudi to take up the opposition mantle and lead Kenyans to the Promised Land.

Through his twitter handle, Ahmednasir asked the Kapsaret MP to take up the role since he has been claiming that the Country has no opposition to the ruling government.

“Let us manage the traffic Hon Sudi. Now that you claim Kenya has no opposition to the JUBILE government in power, and we know many Kenyans are waiting for an opposition MESSAIAH, take the mantle and lead us to the PROMISED LAND,” tweeted the lawyer.

Lawyer Abdullahi’s remarks come a day after the Kapsraet lawmaker dared President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William ruto to resign.

In an interview with journalists at his Eldoret home on Wednesday, Sudi accused President Kenyatta’s administration of being the most incompetent since independence.

He further claimed that president Kenyatta’s administration was the worst in history and was allegedly running down the country’s economy.

“Ukiona Rais hawezi kukutana na viongozi na Governors na senators wanaandamana kwa barabara iko shida  (when you a president who cannot meet with governors and senators forcing them to take to the streets just know we have a problem,” said Mr Sudi.

His comments came barely hours after President Kenyatta doing a mini cabinet reshuffle that saw Henry Rotich sacked as Treasury Cabinet Secretary with Amb Ukur Yattani coming in as his replacement.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has told off Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi on his request to have President Uhuru Kenyatta step aside for them.

Sudi during a press conference held at his Eldoret home on Wednesday called on President Kenyatta to step aside for him, arguing that the head of state had become incompetent.

Sudi said that he could perform better than President Kenyatta if given a chance to act as interim President for three months, with Moses Kuria as his deputy.

Sudi went on to allege Uhuru is incompetent and “uses and dumps hard working people like former Treasury CS Henry Rotich and PS Kamau Thugge”.

But in a scathing response to Sudi’s claims, Moses Kuria has urged the vocal Tanga tanga MP not to drag him into “his stupidity”.

Kuria says he fights his battles in courts silently and with reference to the rule of law and the supremacy of the constitution.

“To Oscar Kipchumba Sudi. Do not drag me into your stupidity. I fight my battles in courts silently and with deference to the rule of law and the supremacy of the constitution. No one helps me and I do not expect anyone to expect my help. The Matters you refer to are now subject of the court and so clearly your comments are sub-judice. Let me give you unsolicited advice. Your comments make many people to wonder how you would behave if you are allowed 50 kilometres radius from a future State House,” read Moses Kuria’s post.

Sudi had called a press conference following President Kenyatta’s move to replace Treasury CS Henry Rotich with Labour CS Ukur Yattani.

Sudi said Uhuru’s relationship with  Ruto has ended and they are engaging in a  fake political union.

The MP said the jubilee government had failed along with President Kenyatta’s Big Four Agenda.

Sudi said Uhuru was unable to meet his own party MPS and was even unable to resolve the row by Governor’s and senators on the division of revenue Bill.
