The East African Development Bank (EADB) has crossed a dangerous line. After years of bulldozing Raphael Tuju in a legal dispute over a 27-acre land in Karen, the bank has now resorted to writing press releases for the Judiciary.

This comes after EADB suffered a major legal blow—losing its immunity from prosecution. Instead of accepting the ruling, the bank has gone into full-blown damage control, launching a desperate smear campaign and spending a staggering $3 million through Ogilvy PR to suppress negative coverage.

Judiciary and EADB Issue Identical Statements

Hours after the Judiciary released a media brief warning the press against covering Tuju’s dispute with EADB, the bank issued an almost identical statement.

The wording left no doubt—EADB had drafted the statement, and the Judiciary merely signed off on it.

This is not just unethical. It is a blatant display of collusion between a financial entity and the very body meant to uphold justice. The Kenyan public has every reason to be outraged.

A Direct Attack on Media Freedom

EADB did not stop at manipulating the Judiciary. The bank went further, warning the media against reporting on its conduct.

“This notwithstanding, the Bank urges the Fourth Estate to exercise its duty to objectivity—the bedrock upon which the profession is founded—by counterchecking claims made on the Bank’s operations against available facts, which we are ready to offer whenever requested,” read the statement.

The Judiciary echoed the same message

“We also call on the media to verify facts before reporting on such matters to avoid contributing to misinformation or disinformation,” said Judiciary spokesperson Paul Ndemo.

Since when did the Judiciary become the mouthpiece of a bank? Who exactly is pulling the strings?

The Judiciary’s involvement in this PR game raises serious questions about its credibility and independence. How can Kenyans trust a court system that is openly coordinating with a bank to control narratives?

EADB’s Fear of Public Scrutiny

EADB is in full panic mode. Tuju has gained the upper hand both in court and in public opinion. Instead of facing accountability, the bank is resorting to threats, PR gimmicks, and behind-the-scenes deals with the Judiciary.

What is EADB so afraid of?

If the bank has nothing to hide, why is it spending millions to control the narrative?

A History of Battles Over His Properties

This is not the first time Tuju has had to fight for his properties against what he calls corporate-backed fraud and judicial corruption. Over the years, he has accused banks, lawyers, and auctioneers of orchestrating schemes to rob him of his assets.

The Karen Land Dispute – Tuju has been embroiled in a battle with EADB over the 27-acre land in Karen, which he insists was illegally targeted in a fraudulent loan deal.

The Sh4.5 Billion Loan Scam – Tuju has maintained that false affidavits and backroom dealings were used to manipulate a case against him, pushing him to the brink of losing property worth billions.

Lawyers and Judges in Collusion – He has called out Senior Counsels Githu Muigai and Fred Ojiambo for their role in cases that allegedly sought to dispossess him of his assets.

Has Senate Majority whip Irungu Kang’ata decamped from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp to Deputy President William Ruto’s side?

Well, the Murang’a Senator’s no show at Jubilee party’s top meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi on Wednesday has triggered a debate on whether the once Uhuru’s diehard has shifted camp.

Kang’ata failed to attend the meeting convened by the Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, despite him having been invited.

Speaking to a local daily on why he skipped the meeting, the lawmaker stated that he was busy somewhere else and he could not make it.

Senate Deputy Majority leader Fatuma Dullo, National Assembly Majority leader Amos Kimunya and his deputy Jimmy Angwenyi, National Assembly Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe, his deputy Maoka Maore and secretary to the Jubilee parliamentary group Adan Keynan are some of the officials that attended the meeting in which the party decided to pull out of three upcoming by-elections.

The no-show at the meeting, that culminated in a press conference, came a day after Kang’ata reportedly rejected a push by the party honchos and President Uhuru  Kenyatta’s allies to withdraw his letter to the President.

Late last year, Kang’ata shocked the nation when he penned a letter to the President discrediting BBI’s popularity in Mt Kenya region, Uhuru’s political bastion. Uhuru’s men termed the move ‘disrespectful’.

In the letter, the senator told the President that the BBI referendum might fail in the region unless Uhuru and his handshake partner ODM leader Raila Odinga change their strategy.

He affirmed the position at a press conference in Parliament on Monday despite criticism and pressure to withdraw the letter and apologise to the head of state.

He cited opposition to the expanded Executive, the involvement of provincial administrations and campaigns by former MPs as some of the issues working against the initiative.

Sources intimated that Jubilee bigwigs hosted Kang’ata for a meeting on Tuesday evening, where he was asked to retract the letter, but he declined.

Yesterday, Tuju and Dullo confirmed Tuesday’s meeting.

“We held a leadership meeting yesterday, he was with us…. He is still our whip until otherwise he decides or any other things come up,” Dullo said.

But when asked whether he was ditching the President’s camp, Kang’ata replied, “I am fighting for the truth and rights. I don’t believe in Jubilee factions and divisions.”

At the press conference, Tuju and Maore said the party had not discussed punishing Kang’ata for his letter to the President.

Kang’ata has been one of President Uhuru’s foot soldiers and most trusted lieutenants in the Mt Kenya region.

In May last year, Uhuru influenced his election as the Senate Majority Chief Whip following a meeting at State House where senators Susan Kihika (Nakuru) and Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet) – key allies of the DP – were kicked out as Majority Chief Whip and Majority leader, respectively.

Later, Kang’ata excited key party decisions by whipping party members to among others vote out Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki as Senate deputy speaker.

However, his letter and skipping party meetings have triggered murmurs and talks that he was on his way out of the President’s circles.

Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has broken his silence on the recently launched United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party linked to Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking during a press conference at the Jubilee headquarters, Tuju explained that UDA had only changed names from Party of Development and Reforms (PDR), a party that he founded in 2012.

“If you are confused, I am more confused because PDR was POA,” the Jubilee Secretary General stated.

Tuju asked the Senate Deputy Majority Leader Fatuma Dullo, who was elected on the PDR ticket, to set the record straight.

“Members of parliament who were elected on a PDR ticket have seen change of name the way you have seen in media.

“There have not been any consultations in terms of where sitting members are concerned, but more importantly PDR was a coalition partner with jubilee and that is why I was given a leadership position in senate,” Dullo stated, adding that PDR had not been deregistered

“As far as I am concerned, I am still within my coalition partner which is jubilee,” she stated.

Deputy President William Ruto’s affiliation with PDR dates back to 2017 when the party was hosted at DP’s previous private office in Nairobi CBD.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had acknowledged the party during the 2017 campaigns.

At the same time, Jubilee party indicated that no disciplinary action would be taken against Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang’ata over BBI leaked letter.

The senator had expressed fears that he might be demoted.

Dullo stated that the party met with Kang’ata and a way forward would be communicated later.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party has announced its plan in the upcoming by-elections across the country.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to conduct by-elections in Nairobi (Gubernatorial), Matungu (Parliamentary), Machakos (Senatorial), Kabuchai (Parliamentary) and in various wards.

Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, January 13, at the Jubilee Party headquarters, Secretary General Raphael Tuju stated that they were monitoring the situation in court and how everything will play out, before giving directions on the way forward.

“As for Nairobi’s seat of Governor [sic] we are on standby mode as the matter plays out in the High Court and Nairobi County Assembly,” he said.

The Nairobi mini polls set for February 18, were suspended pending the hearing and determination of former Governor Mike Sonko’s appeal on his impeachment. 

Sonko is also engaged in another court case against Ann Kananu Mwenda, whose nomination as deputy governor he is said to have revoked. 

The court, however, declined to stop the planned vetting of Kananu who was represented by senior counsel Paul Muite. 

Jubilee is said to be considering BBI Secretariat co-Chair Dennis Waweru as the candidate to battle it out with UDA’s Margaret Wanjiru.

Tuju also announced that the party would not be fielding candidates in the Machakos, Matungu and Kabuchai by-elections. 

He added that Jubilee was engaging ODM, Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya in the listed polls. 

Jubilee has avoided facing off with the Deputy President William Ruto-linked United Democratic Alliance party, which has already announced it’s participation in the Machakos, Matungu and Kabuchai by-elections.

Wiper has fielded Agnes Kavindu who is UDA Chairman Johnstone Muthama’s ex-wife for the Machakos by-election.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday shattered his deputy William Ruto’s plans to flex muscles with ODM leader Raila Odinga in the upcoming Msambweni Parliamentary by-elections.

According to a report by one of the leading local dailies, Uhuru made a 30-minutes phone call through Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju’s phone, which was put on a loudspeaker to address the second in command.

Ruto had arrived at the ruling party’s headquarters along Thika Road in Pangani, Nairobi barely an hour after Tuju made an announcement that Jubilee was not going to field a candidate in the by-elections, citing the ‘handshake’ between President Kenyatta and Raila.

It has since emerged that Tuju placed a phone call to Uhuru, where the DP was reportedly cornered and told to stand with the party position.

Ruto then emerged from the meeting to announce he would stand by the party’s decision.

However, barely a day after this commitment, Ruto, in a sign of defiance, met an independent candidate for the seat – Feisal Abdallah Bader – yesterday morning.

The meeting confirmed the DP’s determination to face off with Raila in the campaigns, which he is likely to use to gauge his support base in Kwale County.

He met Bader in the presence of his allies from the Coast region.

“Met an aspirant for Msambweni parliamentary seat Feisal Abdallah Bader in the company of Coast MPs Athman Shariff (Lamu East), Mohammed Ali (Nyali), Owen Baya (Kilifi North), Khatib Mwashetani (Lunga Lunga) and Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) at Karen, Nairobi County,” tweeted Ruto.

The decision by Ruto to endorse Bader was surprising given he was with Mariam Sharlete at the party headquarters on Wednesday.

Ruto and Tuju are said to have proceeded to the party’s boardroom on Wednesday for a meeting before the secretary-general placed a phone call to the president, who was in Mombasa.

The call was put on loudspeaker for the three officials to discuss the reason for not fielding a candidate. It lasted 30 minutes, according to officials at the party.

Tuju is said to have taken Ruto through an internal document prepared by the party, with Uhuru listening in.

A top party official said the decision was made to stop Ruto from engaging in a political confrontation with Raila, who is enjoying a close working relationship with the ruling party.

Deputy President William Ruto wants Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju and Vice chairman David Murathe out of the ruling party’s leadership positions.

Appearing in an interview with Weru TV on Sunday September 6, 2020, Ruto said  that God would remove Tuju and Murathe from the party’s leadership if people don’t do so.

He said: “Ikishindikana sana tutaomba mungu awaondoe [If we are defeated, we’ll pray so that God removes them]…because they are the biggest threats to us having politics based on ideology, on policy on program rather than having politics that is retrogressive.”

He proceeded: “If there is one thing that Uhuru Kenyatta and I should leave behind is a united strong national party in the name of Jubilee.”

He rubbished claims that he was sidelined in the running of government even after his allies had raised an alarm.

He was asked: “Do you attend cabinet meetings?” he shot back at his host asking him: “How does that concern you? Have you heard that I missed any Cabinet meeting? I attend all the Cabinet meetings as the Deputy President.”

He also didn’t give a decisive answer on whether he supports the Building Bridges Initiative to amend the constitution and introduce a third tier layer of governance.

“Wewe unajua mahali gani ya katiba inabadilishwa? Hiyo ripoti ya BBI wewe umesoma? Hiyo ni maoni yake mimi sijui [Do you know which section of the Constitution is being amended? Have you read that BBI report? That’s his opinion],” he responded.

Jubilee party is planning to kick out deputy Secretary general Caleb Kositany and replace him with a fellow Nandi, Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny.

Kositany who doubles up as Soy MP, a constituency in Uasin Gishu county, is a vocal supporter of deputy president William Ruto while Kuttuny who represents Cherangany which is in Trans Nzoia county is a supporter of Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga handshake.

Kuttuny will be rewarded with the post for his support for the Building Bridges Initiative which saw him become the key speaker from the Kalenjin community during the public rallies held across the country before they were halted due to the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

In the 2007 elections, Kuttuny successfully contested for the Cherangany parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket but failed to recapture it in the 2013 elections when he lost to Boston Marathon winner Wesley Korir.

After losing, he was appointed by Uhuru as his political adviser, a post he held up to December 2017 when he declared his candidature for the Cherangany parliamentary seat.

He won the seat with a slim margin. Sources revealed that the move to appoint Kuttuny to replace Kositany is meant to appease the Nandi community whose son will be losing the big seat of Jubilee for supporting Ruto’s presidential bid as his replacement will come from the community.

Nandis are second in numbers to Kipsigis among the Kalenjin.

Kipsigis community occupies Bomet and Kericho counties. The Kipsigis are also found in Narok and Nakuru counties which they share with the Maasai and Kikuyu communities besides other tribes.

Sources added that the move to appoint Kuttuny is also informed by the realization that the Nandis of Trans Nzoia, unlike those in Uasin Gishu, Nandi counties which is Ruto’s home turf, are likely to cast their lot with the president’s wing in 2022 polls.

In contrast in Uasin Gishu county, where Soy constituency is situated, Ruto enjoys massive support and hence it would be unwise to appoint Kositany’s replacement from the region as the appointment will have little impact on the ground.

The Nandi’s dominance of Uasin Gishu county came to the fore in the last general election when the Soy MP sparked a storm by declaring the community would determine the choice of governor as they are the majority.

Sources say the decision by Jubilee to fire Kositany was arrived at after he launched a full attack on secretary-general, Raphael Tuju, demanding the financial records of the party.

In an episode that added fuel to the cold wars between the president and his deputy, Kositany in a letter to Tuju which was copied to the Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu, claimed he was acting on behalf of more than 100 MPs and over 500 MCAs who are members of the party in demanding information on Jubilee’s financial records from 2016 to date.

He demanded Tuju vanish him with the approved budgets for financial years 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020, as well as all approved procurement records, reports and all committee minutes for the same period.

Kositany also demanded records for all Jubilee party county offices including copies of lease agreements as well as the lease or tenancy agreements for the party’s headquarters in Nairobi since 2016.

His demand came days after he accused top party officials of squandering funds, alleging that officials at the party’s headquarters were spending more than Sh7 million per month on tea and snacks.

All Nairobi Members of County Assembly (MCAs) belonging to the ruling Jubilee party have been summoned.

The President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Party has scheduled a meeting for all its Nairobi County MCAs for Wednesday June 10, 2020.

A letter sent by the party’s Secretary-General Raphael Tuju asked the MCAs to be present at the party’s headquarters by 11 am on the said day.

Mr Tuju further outlined that the agenda of the meeting would be to discuss “pertinent issues at the county assembly”.

“This is to request you to attend a consultative meeting at the Jubilee Party headquarters…Please prioritize this meeting and be punctual,” Tuju’s letter read in part.

The meeting was set to be held on Tuesday, but was pushed to Wednesday.

All MCAs – 46 elected and 20 nominated – will be expected to attend the meeting at the Jubilee Headquarters along the Pangani Interchange.

The letter was copied to Jubilee’s party chairman Nelson Dzuya.

All has not been well for Jubilee Party at the Nairobi county assembly as divided camps continue to fight over leadership.

There s been an ongoing battle at the Nairobi County Assembly after the Jubilee party replaced its leaders.

The new leaders have not been able to get Speaker Beatrice Elachi’s attention as she claims that they have to be officially introduced to her by the party.

Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has spoken on whether National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale will survive the ongoing purge or not.

Tuju, in an interview with a local daily made an official confirmation that the purge is now headed to the National Assembly, after the senate.

Speaking on Duale’s fate, Tuju said that President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is the Jubilee party boss will have the final say.

Duale is seen to have meticulously pushed through government business in Parliament and moderates in Jubilee have suggested he should be spared.

However, he is also being accused of being among the elite politicians around DP Ruto who have opposed the handshake between the President and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Also facing the sack are Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali and his deputy, Cecily Mbarire.

The Jubilee National Executive Council is to meet anytime from Friday to set the agenda for the Parliamentary Group meeting tentatively set for Tuesday next week.

“We are on standby. The itinerary of the boss [Uhuru] is very full. But the NEC can even meet on Saturday or Sunday. It all depends on the President’s availability because he chairs the NEC,” Tuju was quoted by the local daily.

About two weeks ago, Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen and his Nakuru counterpart Susan Kihika were removed as the Senate Majority Leader and the Majority Whip, respectively.

With the President’s blessing, Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki was impeached in a historic vote that exposed Deputy President William Ruto’s now-shaky grip on Parliament.

Allies of the DP have vowed to even gatecrash the Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting at State House.

Snubbing a similar meeting two weeks ago turned disastrous for the Ruto brigade after the President marshaled the requisite numbers to kick out Murkomen and Kihika.

In a clear change of strategy, defiant MPs allied to the DP said they are ready to meet face-to-face with Uhuru and make their case.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has yet again convened another top Jubilee party meeting.

The head of state is set to meet with Jubilee’s key decision-making panel, the National Management Committee.

According to a local daily, President Kenyatta will chair the NMC meeting on Thursday at State House. Members of the parliamentary leadership have been invited.

The meeting is a precursor to a Parliamentary Group Meeting to be held on June 2, when the National Assembly reconvenes from a one-month recess.

This will be the first NMC meeting since President Kenyatta seized control of Jubilee Party from Ruto’s grip after a successful ‘coup’ last month.

Ruto on Thursday last week lost his case before the Political Parties Disputes  Tribunal where he was challenging reconstitution of the NMC.

It is not clear if the DP and his allies would attend the crucial meeting on Thursday to endorse sweeping changes to the National Assembly leadership and approve the President’s working relationship with the opposition.

On Monday Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju confirmed the President had called for the meeting, which he termed “critical” to the party’s ongoing housecleaning.

Tuju confirmed the ongoing purge in Parliament targeting members considered disloyal to the President would continue until the Jubilee house is in order.

National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale, Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali and Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang’ata, as well as Senate Majority leader  Samuel Poghisio, are among those expected to attend.

NMC members include chairman Nelson Dzuya, Tuju and five newly appointed members.

They are Lucy Macharia, Marete Marangu, Walter Nyambati, Jane Nampaso and James Waweru.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has revealed the intrigues being played by Deputy President William Rutos’s allies to kill Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, politically.

The controversial lawmaker Wednesday evening took to his social media handles to reveal the plans Tanga Tanga team have to kick out Tuju.

According to the MP, the ruling Jubilee party will soon hold its party elections. From the elections, Moses Kuria will be made the new party’s Secretary General.

According to Moses Kuria, Tuju, whom he has termed as an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) special envoy in Jubilee party will be banished to Rarieda for good.

“The good news for Jubilee Party Members. Soon we will hold party elections. And I will be your Secretary General. And the ODM special envoy in Jubilee Raphael Tuju will be banished to Rarieda for good. Hiyo ndiyo Rieng. Everything else is splitting hairs,” he posted.

Tuju on his part says that Jubilee Party troubles began after the handshake between ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to Tuju, people opposed the truce between Uhuru and Raila had orchestrated the current infighting in the party.

The anti-handshake team, he said, have regrouped and are now rocking the Jubilee ship from within.

Tuju who spoke during a popular morning radio show Wednesday morning also disclosed that all key decisions within the party are sanctioned by the President.

Ruto and his allies have always singled out the SG for attacks, sometimes claiming his heart is in ODM.

But according to Tuju, the Jubilee Party constitution gives the President immense powers as the party leader.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has reveald the real reason behind the wrangles being witnessed in the ruling party.

According to Tuju, the troubles began after the handshake between Orange Democrativ Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during one of the popular radio shows Wednesday morning, Tuju said that the people opposed to the truce between Uhuru and Raila had orchestrated the current infighting in the party.

Just recently, Ruto termed Tuju and other Jubilee top brass “crooks and heartless gangsters”.

The remarks came after the ruling party announced plans to make changes to the National Management Committee.

The new officials were installed last week despite Ruto’s protestations.

Tuju described his relationship with Ruto as cordial.

Political leaders affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto have announced plans to bypass Jubilee party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju.

The disgruntled politicians plan to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting without involving Mr Tuju. The NEC has not met since the 2017 elections.

The Secretary-General had stated that he is not able to convene the meeting because he is operating on an acing capacity.

“As it is, we are currently operating under Article 33 of the Constitution, the transitional clause. Under this law, I cannot purport to claim to be the bonafide Secretary-General, and this applies to all other officials on acting capacity. As such, it is difficult for even me to convene the demanded NEC when I don’t have a full mandate as an elected official,” Tuju was quoted by a local daily.

The DP’s allies now state that Tuju’s deputy, Soy MP Caleb Kositany, who is allowed by the party constitution to deputise the SG, will convene the meeting.

SG Tuju offended a section of Jubilee party members after he submitted a list of changes to names of the party’s National Management Committee (NMC) to the Registrar of political parties.

Kositany in a protest letter on Friday noted it is not going to be business as usual in the running of party affairs.

“Arrangements are currently underway to convene the NEC meeting in compliance with the directions issued by the Registrar of Political Parties on 16th April, 2020. The registrar directed that any such changes should be made in accordance with the procedures and processes of the Jubilee party constitution and structures,” the disgruntled MPs stated in a letter.

Mr Kositany on Sunday added: “Look at the party constitution. We have many options. We are preparing for the meeting, where we intend to make right all wrongs that have been done in Jubilee. It is not going to be business as usual.”

A seemingly angry powerful Deputy President William Ruto’s ally has dismissed Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju’s decision on party changes.

The party’s Deputy Secretary General Caleb Kositany has moved to reverse Tuju’s decision to publish in local dailies the changes made to the party’s top organ, which had been highly protested by DP Ruto and his allies.

In a notice that appeared in the Standard and Nation newspapers on Saturday, Tuju confirmed that the decision to bring in new members to the party’s NMC had been sanctioned.

The members include: Lucy Macharia, Walter Nyambati, Marete Marangu, James Waweru and Jane Nampaso.

However, in a statement, Kositany dismissed Tuju’s notice, saying that he had no powers to make such decision.

According to Kositany, a key ally of Deputy President William Ruto, the decision to make changes to the party’s NMC should be approved by the National Executive Committee.

Both the President and his deputy are the members of the NEC, the party’s top decision-making organ.

” The said notice has not been sanctioned by the National Executive Committee as per the demands of Article 7 of the Constitution. It is therefore null and void. The National Management Committee is the creation of the NEC and any changes therein can only be effected after an official notice of a NEC meeting,” Kositany said.

Kositany further dismisses Tuju as a con artist in the party.

The controversial lawmaker took to his official facebook page to react to the changes in the ruling party that have been highly protested by Deputy President William Ruto and his allies.

Tuju, despite all the protests from lawmakers allied to Tanga Tanga faction of Jubilee, has gone ahead to publish the changes made on the ruling party’s National Management Committee (NMC) in Saturday’s May 2, 2020 leading local dailies.

Moses Kuria, while reacting to the publications, termed Tuju as an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party special envoy in Jubilee.

Kuria says that Tuju has placed a notice in Saturday papers with the irregular changes in the Jubilee National Management Committee despite the ruling by the Registrar of Political Parties.

He went ahead to say that the Country is at the onset of a budget and Finance Bill process in parliament and it needed peace and space without political sideshows.

“Despite the ruling by the Registrar of Political Parties, ODM special envoy in Jubilee Raphael Tuju has placed a notice in Saturday papers with the irregular changes in the Jubilee National Management Committee. We are at the onset of a budget and Finance Bill process in parliament and we needed peace and space without political sideshows. Anyway, war has been declared. It will end in tears,” he posted.

The Registrar of Political Parties had temporarily stopped the anticipated change of names in Jubilee Party’s National Management Committee.

RPP Anne Nderitu halted the decision to effect the changes after 350 members of the party filed written objections with her office over the manner in which the process was carried out.

Ms Nderitu wrote to Tuju, forwarding the objections and ordering resolution of the issues the members raised in their demand for the process to be halted.

She noted that the issues must be addressed in accordance with the party’s constitution, the Political Parties Act and the conclusion filed with her office.

There is an uproar among Members of County Assembly in Kirinyaga after the assembly’s Majority leader James Kamau Murango received a letter from Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, ousting him from his post.

It is said that Mr Murango received the ouster letter after he presented complaints about governor Anne Waiguru to Jubilee Headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi.

Kirinyaga MCAs who had on Thursday tabled Waiguru’s outer motion are now up in arms, expressing their disappointment in Jubilee.

In his dismissal letter, Tuju also notes that after complaints, the party found that apart from two issues of disbursement of funds for bursaries and women projects the rest of the issues raised by the MCA were personal.

Murango is also accused of being part of a cohort of mainly independent MCAs who addressed the mass media on notice of motion to impeach Waiguru.

‘It is no longer tenable for you to lead Government business in the county assembly, we find this behaviour of refusing to listen to the party headquarters to be gross misconduct as articulated in artcle 13 of the party constitution’ the letter said

Speaking on Thursday, Wamumu ward MCA John Bapstita Kanga and Tebere ward MCA Gudson Muchina said the Jubilee party has no power to dictate who is supposed to be majority leader in Kirinyaga.
