Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has come under fire for hijacking UDA activities in Ukambani region and sidelining party loyalists.

Mutuse who recently announced he had defected from Maendeleo Chap Chap party to UDA has ruffled feathers, with long time UDA leaders and supporters from the region accusing him of running a one-man show and attempting to isolate and sideline other leaders.

“He is causing divisions and rifts within UDA and this will frustrate our efforts to popularize UDA and campaign for President Ruto’s second term,” said a senior UDA leader from the Ukambani region.

At the same time, it has emerged that the leaders who are unhappy with the developments have hatched a plot to “impeach” Mutuse.

According to reliable reports, Mutuse’s main opponent for the Kibwezi West parliamentary seat James Mbaluka has launched a drive to collect signatures to have him recalled.

“The same thing he did to the then Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is coming back to haunt him,” said political activist from Makueni county. “He will also be impeached”.

Mutuse’s dwindling political influence in Ukambani was evident over the weekend during during a function to distribute relief food in Kibwezi East Constituency.
Cabinet secretary for public service, human capital development and special programmes Geoffrey Ruku was the chief guest for the function held at Ulilinzi in Kibwezi East and Masumba in Kibwezi West.

Mutuse made a poster indicating that key UDA and government officials from Ukambani such as Principal Secretary for Aviation Teresia Mbaika, Fred Muteti, Regina Ndambuki, George Mwangangi and Kisoi Munyao would attend the function.

In what confirmed the widening rift within local UDA leadership, all the leaders, with the exception of Mwangangi skipped the high-profile event. The absence of the top UDA leaders sent a strong and clear message that all is not well within the UDA ranks in Ukambani.

According to insiders, the leaders were unhappy with Mutuse’s style of politics which they see as favouring short term populist interventions instead of structured long term development plans

Local residents also took to social media to criticize Mutuse over the same. The comments on Mutuse’s Facebook page were very critical of the MP.
“You are flying choppers to distribute mwolyo (relief food) while others are flying to give roads, stima and water? Maajab”.

“Come up with a permanent remedy like construction of dams and boreholes to enable citizens grow vegetables, fruits and also crop farming.”

At the same time, local leaders accused Mutuse of usurping other leaders’ mandate. “Why is he organizing an event in Kibwezi East without involving the area MP,” one UDA official pondered.

The UDA leaders have also noted the mischief of Mutuse recruiting candidates in the Machakos , Makueni and Kitui counties whom he has instructed to pretend to be in UDA but agenda is to use state funds to build their individual profiles and at the right time stand with Maendeleo Chap Chap Party and try and force No. 1 to negotiate with them as the alternative force to Wiper in the region.

The leaders have accused Mutuse of propping up his henchmen to sideline recognized popular UDA leaders.
In KIbwezi East, Mutuse is accused of promoting newcomer George Mwangangi at the expense of the more experienced and popular Amos Ngumbi who flew the UDA flag during 2022 elections and got respectable 5508 votes. “ He is fronting Mwangangi because he can manipulate him easily,” said the UDA official.

Similarly, Mutuse is accused of bypassing Onesmus Kimilu in Mbooni Constituency. Kimilu vied for the seat on UDA ticket in 2022 but Mutuse is now using Michael Kiosi who vied on Muungano ticket.

In an interesting turn of events, Mutuse’s scheme to use Francis Mutungi at the expense of Fred Muteti came to a dramatic end. The day Mutuse was to auction and deliver Mutungi to State House, he kept him waiting for over six hours at Palacina Hotel on Dennis Pritt road until Fred Muteti got wind of the sabotage and rushed to State House.

In Kilome constituency, Mutuse is using Monari Tangai in lieu of Regina Ndambuki while in Kaiti, Mutuse is grooming Elizabeth Ndinda to upstage PS Terry Mbaika.

Observers view Mutuse’s sinister moves as an elaborate scheme to finish UDA in Ukambani with Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua being part of the scheme.
In Kitui South he is wooing former MP, envoy Kiema kilonzo to upstage current MP Nimrod Mbai with whom they have sharp differences going back to their days when they served under then Governor Mutua.

According to insiders, all these guys who have been brought on board by Mutuse are riding on the support of state machinery to popularise their bid, and later pull a mass exit from UDA to Maendeleo Chap Chap Party ((MCCP) so that Mutua and Mutuse can package MCCP as a formidable force in Ukambani to negotiate for a stake in Ruto’s government.

But the schemes have failed to bear fruit.

Mutuse and MCCP’s failure to gain political traction in Ukambani can be attributed to Mutuse’s divisive style of leadership and his tendency to undermine other leaders especially those who refuse to bow down to his desired deity status. Other leaders doubt his level of discretion especially when he is in late night social engagements.

President William Ruto has moved swiftly to consolidate support in Emurua Dikirr following a hotly contested United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination that was conducted on Friday, March 27, 2026.

The move signals a broader strategy aimed at unity, grassroots mobilisation, and securing a decisive by-election victory.

Taking to his official X account on Saturday, March 28, 2026, Ruto congratulated businessman David Keter, popularly known as Dollarline, on clinching the party ticket.

David Keter AKA Dollarline. PHOTO/Courtesy

Keter won the Emurua Dikirr UDA parliamentary party ticket after a nomination process in 96 polling stations.

He was declared the winner last night, after he garnered 13,759 votes.

He also praised his main challenger, Bernard Kipkoerch Ng’eno alias Buluu, for mounting a strong campaign.

Bernard Kipkoerch Ng’eno alias Buluu. PHOTO/@CaptainKipkorir/X

Bernard Kipkoech Ng’eno, the former MP’s personal assistant, got 13,394 votes in the elections, which were marred with accusations of bribery, repeat voting and voting by proxy in some of the polling stations.

“Congratulations David Keter aka Dollarline on your victory in yesterday’s UDA party nominations in Emurua Dikirr Constituency. You have our unqualified support as you carry the party’s flag into the by-election,” Ruto stated.

“We commend Bernard Ng’eno aka Buluu for running a strong campaign, cementing our party’s democracy at the grassroots.”

Ruto’s message struck a deliberate tone of reconciliation, urging supporters to close ranks after the bruising nomination battle.

“Now, we move forward as one solid team, united behind our candidate and our agenda,” the President said.

Congratulations David Keter aka Dollarline on your victory in yesterday’s UDA party nominations in Emurua Dikirr Constituency.

You have our unqualified support as you carry the party’s flag into the by-election.

We commend Bernard Ng'eno aka Buluu for running a strong campaign,… pic.twitter.com/kIKqWSiQl8
— William Samoei Ruto, PhD (@WilliamsRuto) March 28, 2026

Ruto’s remarks seem to be an attempt to prevent post-primary fallout, a common challenge in Kenyan party politics.

By acknowledging Ng’eno’s role in strengthening grassroots democracy, Ruto signaled inclusivity, a move aimed at retaining the support base that backed rival camps during the nominations.

The President’s swift and unequivocal endorsement of Keter underscores the importance UDA is placing on the upcoming Emurua Dikirr by-election.

The endorsement effectively transforms Keter from a primary winner into the face of UDA’s campaign in the constituency.

Ruto’s statement also highlights a key pillar of his political playbook, grassroots mobilisation.

By praising the competitive nature of the primaries, the President reinforced UDA’s narrative as a party anchored in bottom-up democracy, a message that has been central to his political brand since the 2022 general election.

In Emurua Dikirr, this strategy is expected to translate into intensive local campaigning led by party structures, engagement with community leaders and opinion shapers, and consolidation of voter blocs that participated in the nominations.

The Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Johana Ng’eno in a helicopter crash in Nandi County.

The upcoming by-election is seen as a critical test for UDA’s influence at the constituency level and its ability to maintain political dominance between general elections.

With the primaries concluded, attention now shifts to the campaign trail, where Keter is expected to leverage both his local support and the backing of the national party leadership.

Ruto’s early intervention suggests that UDA is keen to avoid the pitfalls of internal wrangles and instead project a united front ahead of the vote.

Former nominated Senator and 2022 Nairobi Woman Representative aspirant, Millicent Omanga, has officially left the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and joined the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), signaling a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made by the DCP leader and former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, who welcomed Omanga to the party, hailing her as “Mama Miradi” for her grassroots development initiatives and people-focused leadership.

In a statement shared on X on Thursday, March 19, 2026, Gachagua emphasised that DCP is committed to citizen-centered politics, asserting that the party “listens to the people every step of the way and leaves no Kenyan behind.”

“Welcome to DCP Party Senator Millicent Omanga, Mama Miradi. Our party stands with the people; we listen to them every step of the way and this is the home for people-oriented leadership. We recognize and affirm every citizen of Kenya and we leave no Kenyan behind,” Gachagua stated.

Welcome to DCP Party Senator Millicent Omanga, Mama Miradi.

Our party stands with the people; we listen to them every step of the way and this is the home for people-oriented leadership.

We recognize and affirm every citizen of Kenya and we leave no Kenyan behind. pic.twitter.com/NZdM11Bmdz
— Rigathi Gachagua (@rigathi) March 19, 2026

He described Omanga’s move as a boost to the party’s efforts to expand its national footprint and strengthen its grassroots engagement.

Her departure from UDA, where she previously contested the Nairobi Woman Representative seat, is seen as a strategic move ahead of the 2027 elections.

Omanga’s shift could reshape alliances in Nairobi politics, especially as parties consolidate support bases ahead of the next general election.

The DCP has welcomed the move as part of its broader strategy to attract leaders with strong public appeal and grassroots networks, aiming to challenge established political formations and present a viable alternative for voters across the country.

Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa has been delt a major blow after his deputy Ayub Savula Declares interest in the county’s top seat in the upcoming 2027 polls.
‎
‎Addressing the media in Kakamega on Monday, February 2, Savula said he had already kicked off the process of decamping from the Eugine Wamalwa-led Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

He also noted that he had already registered as a UDA 2027 aspirant, ahead of the UDA Aspirants’ Forum meeting set to be hosted by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
‎
‎“My journey of decamping to UDA from DAP-K party has already commenced. I have already registered as an aspirant for the gubernatorial seat in UDA and the journey has officially began,” Savula said.

‎Savula further invited all UDA aspirants vying for different elective seats in the western region, to the State house meeting.
‎
‎He said his decision to decamp from DAP-K was informed by his unwillingness to work under an opposition alliance that is being led by former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua and his allies.
‎
‎Savula says he is comfortable pushing for President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027 under the UDA-ODM political arrangement.
‎
‎”We know ODM and UDA are working together under the broad-based political arrangement, im not going to be part of an alliance between DAP-K and Gachagua,” he said.
‎
‎Savula’s bold move comes after his appointment by President William Ruto as the deputy coordinator for his Western Region campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.

The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has removed Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale from the Senate Majority Whip position.

Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli has been appointed to replace Khalwale in the lucrative role.

This is after Khalwale went against the UDA party and supported an opponent, DAP-K’s Seth Panyako, in the just-concluded November by-elections.

The move came moments after Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei said that Khalwale must pay for his political sins, vowing to have him punished.

“Senator Bonni Khalwale of Kakamega County must pay for his political sins for challenging his sponsoring UDA party in the recent Malava constituency by-elections by campaigning against our candidate. His contempt remarks against the UDA Party/Kenya Kwanza administration cannot go unpunished,” Cherargei wrote on X.

“We are going to make him an example of not undermining your own political Party and bring back political hygiene under Political Parties Act. To him we say Tawe & luwere in subsequent manner.”

Taking to his official Facebook account on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Khalwale said his security detail was withdrawn without any explanation.

“My security details have been pulled without any warning or explanation,” Khalwale wrote.

Two United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants from Malava Constituency who lost in the party primaries have been appointed to diplomatic positions in Uganda and South Africa, in a move that comes days ahead of the Malava by-election.

The appointments, announced on Monday by Prime Cabinet Secretary Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, were for Simon Kangwana, who will serve as Education Attachee at the Kenyan Mission in Uganda, and Rhyan Injendi Malulu, named Trade Attachee at the Kenyan Embassy in South Africa.

The two were among three aspirants promised government positions by President William Ruto in exchange for backing David Ndakwa, the ruling party’s candidate in the by-election.

The by-election was triggered by the death of Malava MP Malulu Injendi. Ndakwa is set to contest the Malava seat on Thursday under the UDA banner. Another aspirant, Leonard Shimaka, was last month appointed a Commissioner at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) for a three-year term.

During the announcement, Mudavadi called Kangwana and Malulu to the podium to read their appointment letters from his phone, prompting loud cheers and a standing ovation from the crowd, who waved the party’s two-finger salute and chanted the famous two-terms campaign slogan.

Mudavadi urged voters to honour their part of the agreement by electing the UDA candidate, saying President Ruto had fulfilled his promises to the aspirants and to ongoing development projects in Malava.

“The president has kept his word on the UDA aspirants and the development projects currently ongoing in Malava. I ask you to be honourable like you have always been and vote for the UDA candidate,” Mudavadi said, addressing supporters at Malava Primary School on the final day of campaigning.

He emphasized that electing a ruling party MP would enable the constituency to access government services more easily.

“An MP from the ruling party easily accesses government services because of proximity to the President and the government functionaries. The late MP Malulu Injendi left you in government; ensure that you stay inside,” Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi highlighted what he described as the contrast between the UDA candidate and his opposition rival.

“The difference between the UDA candidate and that from the opposition is like night and day. Our candidate has sold his manifesto peacefully and with decorum, while his opponent has been abusive and chaotic,” he said.

The rally also followed a dramatic last-minute development in the Malava race. Joab Burudi Manyasi, the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) candidate, officially withdrew from the race on Sunday and declared his support for UDA’s Ndakwa.

Manyasi’s exit, received personally by Mudavadi in Kakamega, has analysts calling it a strategic move that could reshape voter dynamics in the final stretch of the contest.

“This decision is not a sign of weakness from our brother Manyasi, but a sign of strength that demonstrates unity of purpose from a leader who is pragmatic and who has always put the interests of the people of Malava first,” Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi said Manyasi’s support has given the UDA candidate renewed momentum heading into Thursday’s polls.

“Victory is indeed coming. The people of Malava Constituency have resolved not to gamble with their votes and know where to place their bet on Thursday, November 27,” he said.

The appointments and political developments signal a last-minute consolidation of UDA support in Malava, with the party appearing poised to secure the seat in the upcoming by-election.

The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has launched disciplinary proceedings against Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, accusing him of openly supporting a rival candidate in the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election.

In a strongly worded show-cause letter issued by the party’s Disciplinary Committee Chairperson, Charles Njenga, the senator is accused of engaging in political activities, utterances, and associations that amount to gross misconduct and disloyalty to the party.

According to the letter, which has been widely circulated in the media, the UDA Disciplinary Committee says it has “information and evidence” showing Khalwale’s active involvement in campaigns for a candidate from another political party who is competing against the official UDA nominee in Malava.

“The Disciplinary Committee of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party is in receipt of information and evidence of your various political activities, utterances and associations relevant hereto and, that are widely circulated in the media and therefore well within the public domain. These include but not limited to your open support and participation in the campaigns of a candidate from a different political party and who is competing with the UDA candidate in the scheduled by-election for Member of Parliament, Malava Constituency,” the letter reads in part.

“Your support for the said opposing candidate has been open, vocal, conspicuous and substantial as to clearly demonstrate that you are promoting a position that is against your own party’s interest and therefore acting outside the expected conduct of a member of the UDA party as expressly provided for in its constitution and code of conduct.”

The committee accuses the Kakamega Senator—who was elected on a UDA ticket—of acting outside the expected conduct of a member of the ruling party and violating the UDA Constitution and Code of Conduct, which require members to remain loyal and to promote party interests.

Njenga noted that Khalwale’s conduct “clearly demonstrates allegiance to another political party”, adding that such actions amount to gross misconduct and disloyalty.

The letter further cites Articles 68 and 69 of the UDA Constitution, which empower the party to take disciplinary action against members who breach party rules, and Article 4, which obligates members to observe discipline, popularise the party, and promote its official positions.

Khalwale has been given 14 days to respond and “show cause why appropriate disciplinary action should not be taken” against him. Should the committee find sufficient grounds to proceed, it will issue a formal summons for a disciplinary hearing at a date to be announced later.

The senator has also been informed that he has the right to represent himself or appear with an advocate during the proceedings.

UDA’s move marks a significant escalation in internal tensions within the ruling party, particularly in Western Kenya, where factional divisions have been emerging ahead of key by-elections.

The Malava parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of the area MP, Malulu Injendi, and the race has attracted intense political competition as parties jostle for influence in the region traditionally dominated by opposition-leaning leaders.

Khalwale, who also serves as the Senate Majority Whip, has been publicly supporting Seth Panyako of Eugene Wamalwa’s Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has threatened to withdraw from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), over the death of 31-year-old teacher and influencer Albert Ojwang.

Speaking on the floor of the senate on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi said that the Orange party had agreed with UDA that abductions and killings were not going to be witnessed in the country again.

Osotsi argued that if the ODM do not get proper answers from the UDA government on the killing of Ojwang, they will consider it as a breach of the MoU they have with UDA.

“We signed an MOU with UDA and agreed that we are not going to have abductions and killings like this one. If we do not get proper answers from the UDA government, we will consider this as a breach of the MOU we have with UDA,” Osotsi said.

Osotsi’s remarks come hours after ODM leader Raila Odinga broke his silence over the death of Ojwang, with demands to the government.

In a statement on Tuesday, June 10, Raila expressed concern over the growing list of young Kenyans who have lost their lives in unclear circumstances.

Ojwang was confirmed dead on Sunday, June 8, just hours after he was picked up from his native home in Homa Bay County and locked up at the Central Police Station in Nairobi.

His death has sparked nationwide outrage, with police coming under fire, particularly because of the inconsistencies in their accounts of how Ojwang died.

Raila condemned the killing, as he demanded a speedy conclusion to investigations into the death of Ojwang, which was shrouded in mystery up until Tuesday.

“When citizens can no longer tell the difference between the two forms of injustice—police injustice and mob injustice—we are staring at the reality of failure as a nation,” the former prime minister added.

“A speedy and credible closure to this latest incident of injustice in the hands of the police, alongside the many others that we have been pursuing since 2023, is not optional.”

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on Friday, April 25, 2025, skipped a meeting between the Orange party and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

ODM hosted the UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar at Chungwa House for what the Orange party says was a discussion on various matters of national and mutual interest, including the NADCO report and the recently signed MoU between the two parties.

Omar was hosted by ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen.

ODM, in a statement shared via social media, says the two parties agreed to have the pertinent issues raised by Kenyans resolved and ensure that the ten points highlighted in the MoU document are implemented to the later to avoid a backlash and mistrust by Kenyans.

“Executive Dir. @ongwen this morning hosted the @UDAKenya Sec. They agreed to have the pertinent issues raised by Kenyans resolved and ensure that the ten points highlighted in the document are implemented to the later to avoid a backlash and mistrust by Kenyans,” ODM stated.

Edwin Sifuna absent

Sifuna, who is a signatory to the MoU signed between the ruling party and ODM, was absent during the Friday meeting.

The Nairobi County Senator attended the requiem mass for the late Pope Francis at Holy Family Basilica instead.

“Mass for the late Pope Francis at Holy Family Basilica this morning. We continue to Pray for his Holiness to rest in Peace,” Sifuna wrote on X.

Sifuna-ODM fallout

There have been speculations of a fallout between Sifuna and the ODM party. Allies of the Orange party leader Raila Odinga have on several occasions called out Sifuna over his stance on some of the issues affecting the country and his criticism of President William Ruto’s administration.

During the signing of the deal between UDA and ODM, Sifuna made it clear that the Orange party would walk out of the agreement should the Kenya Kwanza administration go against any of the listed 10 points in the MoU.

On April 12, 2025, President Ruto clashed with Sifuna during the burial of Raila’s long-serving aide George Oduor and threatened to convene an ODM founding members meeting and take disciplinary action against the Nairobi Senator, should he continue criticising him.

Just days after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga entered into a deal with President William Ruto, he has issued fresh demands.

Raila on Tuesday, March 11, hit out at Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration for what he argued was failing to resolve several issues affecting Kenyans.

Speaking during a funeral service in Kiambu County, Raila faulted Ruto for poor governance, failing to address the challenges in the Social Health Authority (SHA), and imposing high taxes on Kenyans, including the Housing Levy, which he now says the head of state must address.

“I have told Ruto that SHA has a problem; it must be corrected. The taxes being imposed on Kenyans are also high, especially one on the houses,” he said.

Raila on deal with Ruto

Raila also dismissed claims that he has abandoned Kenyans to join and support Ruto.

According to him, he never approached the head of state for a deal, and that his stance remains the same.

The 2022 Azimio presidential flag bearer says it is Ruto who approached him.

“I have heard people saying that I have joined President William Ruto. I want to say that I never approached Ruto; it was Ruto who approached me. My stand remains the same,” Raila said.

Raila went ahead to claim that the Kenya Kwanza administration has developed a cold feet, prompting them to approach him for support.

According to Raila, the 10 point-agenda in the deal signed between him and Ruto is just a chance for the Kenya Kwanza administration to redeem themselves, by fulfilling the issues raised in the joint working framework agreement.

“These guys have caught cold feet and come to us, that’s why I’ve given them the ten agendas you saw. Those are the things we were always asking for and they’ve said they will fulfill them. We will give them an opportunity to work on those things,” Raila said.

ODM-UDA deal

On Friday, March 7, 2025, President Ruto and Raila signed a joint working framework agreement aimed at establishing collaboration between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in government.

The agreement, titled “Understanding to Resolve the Social and Political Challenges Facing Kenyans,” seeks to address ten key issues affecting the Kenyan population.

This pact aims to expedite the full implementation of the NADCO report, promote inclusivity in public life, strengthen devolution, protect the livelihoods of young people, uphold leadership and integrity, safeguard the right to peaceful assembly and protest, tackle the national debt, combat corruption, eliminate public resource wastage, enhance government efficiency, and protect the sovereignty of the people, the rule of law, and constitutionalism.

However, the pact has attracted criticism from a section of Kenyans and leaders, some of whom have viewed it as a betrayal.

A UDA aspirant is on spot over a woman who has cried out for help in Saudi Arabia. The 29-year-old woman is asking to be rescued from her employer in the Arab country before she ends up dead.

Nice Nayaz, a university graduate has been working as a house help in Saudi Arabia for the past three months. She alleges that she has never received her salary and she has been assaulted severally when she asked for her dues.

Sources say that an agency owned by an aspiring MCA for Kangema Ward Sultan Mundia took her to the country promising that she would be working as a cleaner in a company, only to end up working as a maid.

The politician is vocal about his candidacy on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and is currently busy campaigning for his seat in Kangema.

The woman’s family has written to the agency to repatriate her back to Kenya, arguing that there has been a breach of contract between her and the company.

According to a letter from advocate Gregory Ndege addressed to Echo Media Technology Co. Ltd located at Kimathi House in Nairobi, Nice claims that she has been sexually harassed by her employer.

The lawyer has demanded for her immediate release and return to Kenya, saying her parents are ready and willing to pay for her travel expenses.

Also in a voice recording to the agency, Nice says she has been working without rest or sleep.

“They locked me inside like a prisoner with CCTV watching me every time. It’s modern-day slavery. If I choose to come back home, why can’t I be released? This is too much. Kindly do something,” she said.

She added that there are other 36 girls going through the same ordeal and action should be rescued. She said she is tired and fatigued as she wakes up at 5:30 am and sleeps at 11:00 pm.

“I need to rest. They treat us as if we are stones. I just want to come back home. I will die here. My body cannot continue anymore,” Nice said.

In response, the owner of the company, Sultan Mundia, claims the lady has refused to work and this has brought a problem with the company’s payment system. He said the lady will receive her payment by Thursday, October 28, 2021.

A storm has broken out in Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party over its appointment of 31 officials.

On Thursday, some dissatisfied members protested that the list of the 31 officials, filed with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) was not satisfactory.

UDA Chairman Johnstone Muthama on Tuesday said the officials would be members of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), an organ with a say in party nominations and elections.

Sources say the protests were so wrathful that UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina in an attempt to calm the members reportedly posted in their Whatsapp group, “The party wishes to confirm that the list is not an actual representation of the party officials.”

However, Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu confirmed that the list earlier published by Nation was the one received in their office.

The letter showing the list of the officials was received by ORPP on September 15, two weeks after the resolutions were approved by the party on August 30.

Some of the dissatisfied members who protested had gone to some late entrants to the the ‘hustler movement’ and complained they had either been left out or their regions ignored.

As a prove of divisions in the party, some MPs claimed it was not the final draft while the beneficiaries of the appointment celebrated.

Deputy President William Ruto’s tour of Kisii County on Sunday October 4, 2021 turned chaotic after his supporters clashed with those of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Several people were injured after youths wearing ODM T-shirts clashed with Ruto’s supporters at Suneka, in Bonchari Constituency in Kisii.

The groups attacked each other with clubs and stones as DP Ruto approached Suneka junction to address the crowd.

The crowd donning ODM t-shirts heckled Ruto which caused supporters to clash with them in a fracas that lasted for minutes.

Less than five metres away, laid a man, helpless on the ground after being hit with a club on the head. Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi’s aides rushed him to hospital.

Later, the DP headed to Mama Teresa home, a widow to the late former Bonchari MP Oroo Oyiako.

On his way back, another violence ensued causing a state of conodrum and panic while Ruto was preparing to address a crowd.

Residents scampered for safety and only returned after calm was restored when Ruto started his address. He condemned the act saying that it is not good for local leaders to pay youths to cause violence.

“I am calling on youths not to accept to be used to fight their colleagues. “You deserve a job and a business, not to be used as hooligans,” said Ruto.

He added that the money set aside for development should be used appropriately and not to pay for chaos.

He earlier on told off his critics for not taking serious his role in shaping Jubilee and development projects before falling out with his boss Uhuru Kenyatta.

He took credit for most development projects in Kisii saying that he took a big part in ensuring their implementation.

Ruto said he initiated the construction of over 3000 kms of tarmac road in the area, 140,000 households connected to electricity up from 27000 and provision of clean water.

His comments seemed to target interior CS Fred Matiangi who has also been taking credit of the achievements to his Gusii community. Ruto told the Gusii community to support him since he also has not abandoned them since 2013.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has unveiled Teresa Bitutu Oroo, the wife to the late Bonchari MP Oroo Oyioka as its preferred candidate in the upcoming parliamentary by-election.

Johnson Muthama, the chairman of the party associated with Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday, March 25 announced that the party’s Secretary General Veronica Maina had issued certificate to the ex-MP’s widow to fly its flag.

The party also issued nomination certificate to Francis Muraya Githaiga, who will fly its flag in the forthcoming Rurii ward mini polls.

“Another significant day to @UDAKenya. Our Secretary General, Veronica Maina has issued certificates to Teresa Bitutu Oroo and Francis Muraya Githaiga to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming by-elections in Bonchari constituency and Rurii ward respectively,” Muthama tweeted.

Another significant day to @UDAKenya.

Bitutu will now face off with ODM’s Pavel Oimeke and Jubilee’s Zebedeo Opore in the Bonchari by-election.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission slated the by-elections for Garissa, Bonchari, and Juja on May 18.

The by-election for Rurii Ward in Nyandarua County will also be held on the same date.

The One Kenya Alliance will not participate in the forthcoming by-elections and will instead support candidates fielded by the Jubilee Party.

Members of the alliance, which brings together Kanu, Wiper, Ford Kenya and ANC parties, said the move was aimed at reciprocating the support Jubilee gave them in recent by-elections in Matungu, Kabuchai and Machakos.

Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday, Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula expressed gratitude to Jubilee for its support during the by-elections.

Wetang’ula said their victory in the concluded by-elections was an indication that the country was keen on a new transformational agenda.

Mudavadi said members of the alliance will move together to sensitise Kenyans about their agenda.
