Norman Magaya and Kalonzo

ODM leader Raila Odinga’s key strategist in the 2017 general election Norman Magaya has joined Wiper movement as Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2022 strategist.

The move comes just days after the wiper leader announced that his party had officially exited the National Super Alliance (NASA), in which Magaya acted as the CEO during the last elections.

According to reports from reliable sources, the Nasa CEO will be Kalonzo’s political adviser and will be tasked with writing press releases as well as being in charge of the party leader’s political strategies.

He will also be crucial in advising Kalonzo on coalition building and management ahead of the 2022 general election.

The Nasa CEO was unveiled on the day Wiper unanimously resolved to leave the opposition coalition for One Kenya Alliance.

Kalonzo who has maintained that he will not act as anyone’s number 2 in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta also named Justine Kyambi as the new Wiper executive director.

Kyambi takes over from university don Dr Jared Maaka Siso.

Siso is venturing into politics and will be contesting the Borabu parliamentary seat on a Wiper ticket during next year’s polls.

The current Borabu MP Ben Momanyi who was also elected on Wiper ticket has announced he will be contesting the Nyamira governor seat.

The Nasa CEO was unveiled on the day Wiper unanimously resolved to leave the opposition coalition for One Kenya Alliance.

Magaya, an advocate of the High Court, served as the national returning officer for Nasa in the August 2017 election at the Bomas of Kenya.

He collapsed at the Bomas of Kenya in August 2017 during the tabulation of presidential votes in the 2017 general election and was admitted to Nairobi Hospital before being flown to India for specialised medical treatment after a heart attack.

NASA CEO Norman Magaya has slammed Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri over his latest remarks on locusts that have invaded most parts of the country.

Kiunjuri on Friday told Kenyans to start taking pictures of suspected insects and post them on social media so that his ministry can confirm to them whether it is a locust or not.

Kiunjuri stated that once the photos have been positively identified the government would take appropriate action.

While commenting on the remarks, Mr Magaya said that Kiunjuri does not qualify to be in the office.

He noted that unless Kiunjuri has President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nudes, no justification exists for him to be a CS, citing that incompetency is written allover the Agriculture CS.

“Unless this man has Uhuru’s nudes …. no justification exists for him to be CS !!! Incompetency is written allover Kiunjuri, ” posted Magaya.

A preliminary report says that the desert locust invasion in northern Kenya is rapidly spreading.

The report by Mandera County’s Department of Agriculture indicates that an estimated 12,000 square kilometres of landmass had been infested in the county alone since the invasion began barely two weeks ago.

The report released on Tuesday paints a picture of destruction that threatens food security in a region that recently experienced drought and floods in quick succession.

The report shows that barely a day after the locusts were first spotted on December 28 at three sites in the county, they had spread to 20 other sites.

Locusts invaded Mandera, Marsabit and Wajir counties two weeks ago, prompting an outcry from local leaders and residents.

Desperate to deal with the invasion, residents have been banging on utensils and other metallic items, and honking motorbike horns to scare away the locusts.

Police officers have also been seen blowing whistles to scare them away.

Earlier, they had been instructed to shoot and kill the locusts.
