Ruto’s Turkish Man Arrested While Re-entering Kenya From Uganda

Harun Aydin, the Turkish businessman associated with Deputy President William Ruto has been arrested.

Aydin was arrested on Saturday morning at Wilson Airport in Nairobi while re-entering Kenya from Uganda.

Reports indicate that he is currently being held at the Old Nairobi Area Police Station.

Aydin came to the limelight after it was alleged that he was among five people scheduled to accompany the DP to Uganda.

The others are; MPs Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Oscar Sudi (Kapsaret), Benjamin Tayari (Kinango), Mombasa based businessman David Lang’at, Elijah Rono and Eric Ruto.

Earlier on, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen had predicted that the State would arrest the businessman. 

Harun who was being sought by detectives before he checked out of a local hotel where he has been staying runs a company known as Unit 2HA Investment Energy Africa Ltd.

Harun has been staying at a local hotel within the city since June 24, 2021, when he arrived in the country until August 3, 2021, when he checked out just three days after DP Ruto’s saga at Wilson Airport.

The Turkish national who holds passport number U20470175 was issued a working permit by the Department of Immigration Services in Kenya on June 30, 2021, and it is supposed to expire on June 29, 2023.

Harun first jetted into the country in 2018.

DP Ruto has hence dismissed reports that Harun Aydin, is a man of questionable character.

He mentioned that Aydin is a respected Businessman who has a permit to operate in Kenya and even the Turkish embassy has confirmed the same.

Oscar Sudi who was part of the Uganda trip claimed that the media was being used to tarnish the reputation of the businessman and in extension, that of DP Ruto.

Sudi said that Uganda President Yoweri Museveni would not have allowed someone of questionable repute to invest in the country.
