Chris Kirubi’s condition worsens, flown to US for treatment

Business mogul Chris Kirubi has been flown to the USA for further treatment following the worsening of his condition. Mr Kirubi has been battling cancer.

According to a local daily, the businessman who has not been feeling so well lately was re-admitted in the expensive USA hospital he has been attending on Saturday.

This is the second time in one year where Chris Kirubi is being flown to the US for treatment. he was first flown to the US in in November last year .

Mr Kirubi, who is in his seventies, has wide-ranging business interests in publicly listed as well as private companies. He is the single-largest shareholder of Centum Investments with a 28.64% stake. One of Kenya’s most prolific businessmen, Mr Kirubi, know in shorthand as CK, holds leadership positions in at least 10 companies and organisations.

His business interests are diverse, ranging from broadcasting (Capital Media Group), to manufacturing, Haco Tiger Brands.

Take your NONSENSE to hell! Sonko blasts Pangani evictees, vows not to pay them

Pangani estate residents were on Sunday forced to spend their night in the cold when the most feared bulldozers from Nairobi County government landed on their houses in an effort to evict them to pave way for development of new houses.

Dear @MikeSonko, the brutal eviction of residents of Pangani at midnight was unjustifiable. Some of those evicted were never paid. Officials say they were paid but no money reached them. People are now stranded with nowhere to go. Must a demolition be carried out at midnight?

The move sparked a lot of reactions with a section of Kenyans questioning why Governor Mike Sonko’s government had to evict the victims in the midnight with their property being crashed in the houses.

Why should people be evicted at midnight without warning? Why should people's property be crashed in houses? Even animals can think better. What is wrong with people in this government? What happened at Pangani is so unfortunate and a shame!

In a quick response to the critics, Governor Sonko has vowed not to compensate the victims, arguing that those who have not been paid are only those who refused the payment.

The seemingly angry governor told the evictees off, daring them to go to Court.

Sonko further notes that his government shall not allow development plans to be politicised.

“Take your NONSENSE to hell. Those not paid are the ones who refused to take the money, and we are not going to pay them. Let them go to court. We shall not allow development plans to be politicised,” tweeted Sonko.

The 2,687 advertised jobs at Sonko’s government you shouldn’t miss out

Over a long period of time, unemployment has been a menace among Kenyan youths. Just recently, we witnessed thousands of graduands flock Nairobi’s Eka Hotel for five advertised jobs.

But have you checked out for advertised jobs at the Nairobi County government?

Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has called on qualified Nairobians to apply for 2,687 jobs advertised in his county.

Sonko says Nairobi County had officially gazetted its service board, which had already started working.

He added that the former board had been paralyzed due to lack of quorum, following the resignation of one member and the expiry of term of service of three others.

The governor called upon qualified Nairobians to apply for the advertised jobs.

“In support of the Big 4 Agenda especially on job creation, Nairobi City County Government is set to recruit fresh staff to revamp service delivery.

“I therefore call upon all qualified Nairobians to be set to join us through a competitive recruitment process,” part of his post read.

Some of the jobs advertised by the governor include; 800 city inspectorate officers, 200 traffic marshalls, 200 fire marshalls, 30 fire drivers, 520 ECD teachers and 275 nurses.

Others advertised are; 165 clinical officers, 64 medical officers, 53 hospital clerical officers, 35 pharmacists, 25 laboratory technicians, 25 social workers, 25 nutritionists, 10 planners, 10 surveyors, 15 road engineers, 10 architects and 225 subordinate staff.

“When these new staff are recruited, it will assist in decongesting traffic in the CBD, enhance fire fighting preparedness, improve medical health services as well as early childhood education improvement,” he highlighted.
