Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has accused Deputy Presidenty William Ruto of performing witchcraft in a Nandi forest.

Taking to his official twitter account on Saturday June 6, Sifuna called on the nation to turn into prayers to to break the “bondages that were placed on this nation in that Nandi forest”.

He has called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to reopen worship places, arguing that the country will need every knee on the floor to break the rituals that were performed in the dark by DP Ruto.

“I now unequivocally support the reopening of churches. We will need every knee on the floor to break whatever dark bondages were placed on this nation in that Nandi forest. Whatever Covid does to us pales in comparison to those ritualistic sacrifices by DP Ruto,” he tweeted.

His post follows reports that the Talai elders on Friday June 5 performed sacrifices and cleansed DP Ruto to protect him from harm and political miseries.

The two-hour elaborate ceremony, according to reports, was organised by the Nandi Laibons Council of Elders and was conducted in Kipsirwo village from 5am to 7am. It was meant to protect the DP from bad omens.

Dressed in a blue blazer and khaki trousers, the DP and his political allies arrived  early morning for the ceremony. He was doused with milk and honey from a special traditional gourd by elders dressed in wild animal skins.

The elders, popularly known as Orkoik, held prayers and offered sacrifices on a nearby hill. They included Christopher arap Agui, Lawrence Nganai, and Stephen arap Tormoi.

Ruto was then handed leadership instruments, including a baton (nogirwet) and a traditional stick (Siarit) said to have been used by legendary Nandi chief medicine man Orgoiyot-Kipnyolei arap Turgat.

They had gathered at the home of retired Anglican priest Canon James Baasi. Elders from the larger Talai clan were selected to preside over the event.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has blasted The Standard newspaper over a controversial headline that dragged ODM into Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee party problems.

The newspaper on Tuesday ran a story titled ” The Wars in Uhuru and Raila parties”.

Sifuna says the story under the titled is all about Jubilee but ODM were lumped together.

He says he read the story keenly looking to see who was fighting who in ODM and over what, but the writer of the story did not say.

Sifuna is now accusing the Mombasa road-based media house of misunderstanding balance when it comes to news.

He says that the media house understands balance as including everyone in their stories.

@StandardKenya understands balance to mean including everyone in their stories. This story is about Jubilee…but it had to “balance” so we were lumped together. I read looking to see who was fighting who in ODM and over what…the writer Moses Nyamori doesn’t say. Takataka tu,” he tweeted.

It is now no secret! Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has been facing embarrassment in public not less than once.

Just a few weeks ago, we show the majority leader being heckled at Bomas of Kenya in from of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy dr William Ruto as he tried to complain on the way Suna East MP Hon Junet Mohammed was running the BBI report launch program.

On Wednesday 11 December, 2019, chief magistrate Douglas Ogoti did it again as he schooled Murkomen in court during the bail ruling of Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko whom Murkomen was representing.

Murkomen indeed had a hard time to explain why he had brought sick Sonko in the court.

And just a day after that embarrassment from Ogoti, Prresident Kenyatta did it himself by condemning those professionals in public service representing private sector, terming it conflict of interest.

The head of state ordered the Attorney General to come up with a bill that will help solve the conflict of interest from public servants.

Just few minutes after presidents order, ODM party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna was at Murkomen’s neck again, blasting him for what he claimed as Murkomen having broken the law profession.

Sifuna’s comment came after a twitter user complained that Siaya Senator James Orengo has been appearing in courts but no issue had been raised. But Sifuna believes that the “level of ignorance of the law displayed by Murkomen and his Makueni counterpart Mutula Kilonzo Jr” that has caused all these problems.

“It is the shocking level of ignorance of the law displayed by those two characters that has caused all these problems. @orengo_james has never brought such anxiety with his appearances. He largely goes to court to teach the law. Murkomen broke the profession,” Sifuna posted.

Raila Odinga’s ODM party has planned to spend Sh10 million to conduct nominations ahead of Kibra parliamentary race.On Wednesday, the nominations that had been scheduled for Saturday 31st were postponed to September 7 over security concerns.

The party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna defended the high budget, saying the money was meant to make the contest free and fair.

“We want to run a free and fair democratic contest. Each of the candidates cleared will be given an equal chance to prove his popularity without any interference,” said Mr Sifuna.

Sifuna also revealed that ODM had handed the names of 11 candidates cleared to run in the primaries to IEBC.

He noted that since the party has been blamed for holding shambolic nominations in the past, a situation that led to an exodus of some of the candidates to other parties, ODM will this time be keen to avoid such a scenario.

“We are not going to entertain chaos. If you try to cause chaos we will de-register you from the party. You must conduct yourselves with utmost civility,” Sifuna told the candidates.

Those cleared are Christone Odhiambo, popularly known as DJ Kriss Darlin, Peter Ochieng, Tony Ogola Sira, William Ayacko and Stephen Okello.

Others are Bernard Otieno, Eric Ochieng, Brian Owino, John Otieno, Benson Musungu and Patrick Lumumba Owade. The by-election will be held on November 7.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth on July 26.Sifuna reiterated party leader Raila Odinga’s remarks that the exercise will be free and fair, and urged candidates to promote party values.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has accused Deputy President William Ruto and his allies of thriving on politics of propaganda and hate.

While making reference to Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei’s Sunday’s speech, Sifuna claimed that Dr Ruto survives on politics of blackmail and hostage.

On Sunday, Cherargei warned that Dr Ruto’s team had profiled and identified those opposing the DP, suggesting unspecified consequences should they win State House race in 2022.

“Let me finish by saying, those people who have continued to fight DP William Ruto, we are profiling you. When you are fighting the deputy president, you are fighting us.

“Don’t think that the DP does not have his supporters. We see here. Continue abusing him but know that we are marking and profiling you. When that time comes, we shall deal with you. He also have his people, don’t joke,” he said.

In a tweet, Sifuna said that it was not ‘news’, adding that no one will be forced to support Dr Ruto. He further said that many Kenyans will be ready to be killed if that is the plan.

“It is not news that Ruto and his henchmen believe in politics of hate, ethnicity, blackmail and hostage taking. We know he knows no other way… But politics is persuasion. Now one will be forced to bend to Ruto’s will. You can’t kill us all. Let Cherargei know that,” he wrote.

Earlier, Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei had dismissed Cherargei’s remarks, terming them uncalled for and primitive.

“The Statement made by Senator Cherargei is quite unfortunate. I know for a fact that, it is his personal position. As a supporter of Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s candidature for President, I distance myself from this statement,” she said.

Fallen Kibra MP Hon. Ken Okoth’s remains have already been cremated this morning in accordance with his wishes and in the presence of his family.

Taking to twitter Saturday morning, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party said that his family was present during cremation.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, a Spokesperson for the family, who is also their legal representative in a case filed at the Milimani Law Courts by Ann Thumbi who claimed to be a mistress to the deceased had revealed on Friday that the body would be cremated today.

Sifuna said, “we no-longer have a dispute because the matter has been settled. She was allowed to extract DNA samples from the body before interment.”

Thumbi had obtained orders blocking a cremation, burial or any manner of disposal of Okoth’s body pending the hearing and determination of her case.

Sifuna told journalists that the two sides had agreed to have DNA samples extracted from the body to determine if he is the father of Thumbi’s five-year-old son.

“The consent has been adopted by the magistrate and now there is no dispute,” Sifuna said, “This was agreed after long talks on Thursday night presided over by ODM leader Raila Odinga and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.”

In the order earlier issued by a Magistrate’s Court, Ken’s mother Angeline Okoth, his wife Monica Okoth had been barred from undertaking any funeral rites for the deceased until the case is heard and determined. Lee Funeral Home where his body was preserved was also named as the third respondent.

In her suit papers, Thumbi said she was angered by the family’s failure to recognize her son to be listed as one of the beneficiaries of the deceased’s property.
