Tusker Oktobafest

Tusker Oktobafest successfully continued its nationwide celebration of Kenyan beer, music, and culture this past weekend, bringing vibrant experiences to Mombasa and Nanyuki on Saturday, November 1st. The festival’s momentum now builds towards the grand finale in Kisumu on November 8th.

The Mombasa edition saw an overwhelming turnout at the iconic New Big Tree in Bamburi. The lineup featured rap heavyweight Khaligraph Jones, Ndovu Kuu, Tipsy Gee, and Mombasa’s own Honest Blind Boy, alongside DJs Benitez, Mostwanted, Issa Platinum, MC Gogo, and DJ Daffy. Attendees enjoyed music, dance, local cuisine from vendors, interactive brand activations, and refreshing beers against a stunning beachside backdrop. Highlights included Khaligraph Jones’ performance to an adoring audience and a surprise birthday celebration for MC Gogo.

Simultaneously, Nanyuki beer lovers converged at Stingers Lounge for their own unforgettable Oktobafest experience. The event featured artists Toxic Lyrikali, Ayrosh, Wanjine, and Njerae, with DJs Abby, Deewiz, Tibz, Grauchi, Kaneda, and resident DJ Doubleblack. MCs Azeezah Hashim and Kibunja hosted the festivities. The venue buzzed with energy from DJ Abby’s opening set through electrifying performances, even as rain fell. Njerae’s soulful hits captivated the crowd, and Toxic Lyrikali’s performance was met with an enthusiastic sing-along, culminating in a legendary set by DJ Grauchi.

These successful events in Mombasa and Nanyuki, following earlier editions in Nairobi and Eldoret, underscore Tusker’s commitment to connecting with consumers and celebrating Kenyan beer and culture across diverse regions.

“The recent editions of Tusker Oktobafest in Mombasa and Nanyuki truly captured the vibrant spirit of each community, with overwhelming turnout solidifying our nationwide festival approach,” said Brigid Wambua, Senior Brand Manager Tusker. “We are now incredibly excited to bring this unparalleled experience to Kisumu for our grand finale.”

The nationwide festival culminates with its “Lake Edition” on Saturday, November 8th, at Atella Beach Resort, Kisumu. This final event promises an incredible entertainment lineup and rich beer experiences tailored to the region. Access to the Kisumu experience is by purchasing tickets at the venue for KES 1,000, redeemable for either five bottles of Tusker Lager, Pilsner, or Balozi, or four bottles of Whitecap, Manyatta, Tusker Cider, Tusker Malt, Tusker Lite, or Guinness.

In addition to the main festivals, Tusker Oktobafest will be supported by over 200 on-trade activations nationwide.

Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) has officially launched the highly anticipated sixth edition of its annual beer festival, Tusker Oktobafest, promising an expanded nationwide celebration of Kenyan beer and culture. The launch event, held on Thursday, 25th September at the Tusker Brew House, gathered media, influencers, and performers for an industry night that set the stage for a month of vibrant festivities.

This year, Tusker Oktobafest embraces a deconstructed, nationwide approach, bringing the celebration closer to beer lovers across Kenya. The festival will kick off with a special treat for Nairobi fans: a nostalgic “Kulture” experience at Carnivore Grounds on October 4th, featuring a throwback to 2000s Kenyan music.

Addressing the attendees, Marketing Manager Mark Mugisha outlined the brand’s vision for this year’s festival. “In the six years of providing a platform to celebrate Kenyan beer and culture, we have built a phenomenal property with Oktobafest,” he stated. “Even as the brand evolves and the format varies to meet the needs of our consumers, our commitment to celebrating how we do beer and culture remains unwavering. This year, we are taking the festival to our consumers, allowing us to truly meet them where they are and deepen our social and economic impact across the country.”

The Ag. KBL Commercial Director, Edward Kimathi, also spoke, highlighting the business strategy behind the new format. “This year’s deconstructed approach is about creating richer, more authentic experiences that resonate with our consumers,” he said. “It also allows us to open up our value chain to a wider network of local service providers and talent. As a proud Kenyan brand, KBL remains committed to growing and supporting the local economy.”

The launch event provided a first glimpse into the festival’s exciting calendar, which will feature a series of regional events designed to offer unique, localized experiences:

•            Nairobi Edition: October 4th at Carnivore Grounds

•            Rift Edition: October 11th at Tamasha, Eldoret
