The UDA nomination exercise in Bungoma County on Thursday April 14, 2022 turned ugly when a section of aspirants and their supporters engaged in a fist fight.

The UDA nomination process in Kimaeti ward, Bumula sub county in Bungoma County was forced to come to an end after some of the aspirants engaged in violence leading to two being hospitalized.

While speaking to the press at Kimaeti health center where the two-aspirants seeking the Member of the county assembly seats (MCA)were hospitalized, Bumula MP Mwambu Mwabonga condemned the act.

The lawmaker said that UDA as a party is an advocate, saying that it was so unfortunate for such behaviors to be experienced.

Mabonga went ahead to say that the aspirants that were involved in causing chaos will be disqualified and those who practice peace during the exercise can be considered as direct nominees.

The exercise in that ward which was being conducted at Kimaeti primary school was cancelled and postponed to further dates that will be communicated later according to the nomination’s supervisor MP Mwambu Mabonga.

The area MP went ahead to ask the youths to stop being manipulated by politicians to cause havoc and destruction saying that it will only result in them being jailed and the politicians will not be there to support them.

“Let me warn those young people that are being used by politicians to beat others, stop that behavior because the we shall find you and it will not be easy for you,” he said.

He then called out the police to investigate those who were involved in the chaos to be arrested immediately and the aspirants being disqualified from the party.

“I warned everyone yesterday, politics is not about beating or harming each other, sell your manifestos peacefully to the voters and allow them to decide on their own but it seems my words didn’t land in the ears and so, I will let the police take charge and find each and everyone who was involved in what happened today. We as a party we cannot condone that,” said the angry Mwambu.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has rubbished claims that he is set to ditch Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for the ruling Jubilee party.

The lawmaker says he is still strongly behind Ruto and that he is determined to see him take over the government come 9th of August.

Addressing his constituents in Kibingei ward at Khwiroro market, Barasa said that he indeed had a talk with the Jubilee party members but he has not declared to have moved from the United Democratic Party(UDA) terming it as propaganda.

“I met with the Jubilee party members and because of my good work, they asked me to join and work with them, just before I make a decision, they have already started walking around propagating lies that I have ditched UDA,I want to tell them that I am strongly behind William Ruto, ”he said.

This comes after an MP and MCAs allied to Ruto in western region decamped from the party led by the former UDA chairman John Waluke and joined the Jubilee party who’s leader is president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Barasa went further to urge the residents to bank their trust in him and his party boss William Ruto saying that with him, the country will be able to revive the ailing economy making sure that every Kenyan gets a sustainable living.

“The current government doesn’t care about the hustling Kenyans and that’s why I am asking you to vote in the leaders who can relate to the problems that common people go through, ”he said.

Bumula member of parliament Mwambu Mabonga has asked Ministry of Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa to stop misleading the Luhya community.

According to Mwambu, Wamalwa puts his interest first more than the people of Bungoma and so he should let the people choose the leader of their choice.

While addressing the residents at Lwanja in Bumula constituency, Mwambu said that if at all Eugine had the interest of the people of Bungoma at heart then he would have fought hard to even have the fertilizer’s prices lowered.

This comes after the DAP-K party held a similar meeting in the same constituency recently drumming up support for Azimio La Umoja coalition whose presidential candidate is ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Mabonga lashed out at the Azimio allies saying that instead of dedicating themselves in improving the living standards of their own people, they are busy moving around and using the government resources to form many political parties to satisfy their own interests.

“Azimio team was here last week and instead of campaigning and telling the people what they have in store for them, they are busy insulting me. That shows how confused they are, and they should get their priorities right,” he said.

Mabonga went ahead to lament on how the government is blackmailing the Kenya Kwanza alliance supporters forcing them to pull their weight behind Azimio.

This comes after Sirisia MP John Waluke ditching UDA for the Jubilee party which is allied to Azimio.

The first term MP went further to campaign for Ruto and the entire UDA team saying that once they take over the government, they will budget 100 million shillings to the struggling residents so they can relate to the problems that happen.

His sentiments were echoed by women rep aspirant Nancy Kibaba who recently ditched AZIMIO for UDA saying that it is a movement with no agenda.

Deputy President William Ruto has been handed a major boost in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming August general elections.

This is after 30 elected Members of Kiambu County Assembly ditched President Kenyatta’s Jubilee party for his United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Ruto through his official social media handles on Saturday March 12, 2022 said that the 30 MCAs believe that there should be a new paradigm shift to build Kenya’s economy from the bottom.

“The Kenya Kwanza team is growing bigger each day. 30 elected MCAs from Kiambu County have quit Jubilee and joined UDA. They believe that there should be a new paradigm shift to build our economy from the bottom. Karibuni Hustler Nation!” Ruto tweeted.

Laikipia County Governor Joshua Irungu was among the leaders who officially joined the UDA.

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has dropped her quest to become the next Nairobi County Governor in the upcoming August general elections.

Instead, the former Starehe MP has opted for the Nairobi Senate seat.

She will now have to square it out with Karen Nyamu in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries.

A leaked UDA party receipt that has gone viral shows that the Jesus Is Alive Ministries bishop had paid a total sum of Kshs. 125,000 as a nomination fee for Nairobi County senator.

Early February, the Nairobi gubermnatorial hopeful Senator Johnson Sakaja and Margaret Wanjiru brought a ‘Kenya Kwanza’ whistle-stop rally at the City Park to a halt after Sakaja’s supporters reportedly booed the woman of the cloth.

Bishop Wanjiru accused Sakaja of inciting his followers against her.

Sakaja did not address the allegations, but appealed to the crowd to allow all the candidates an opportunity to sell their agenda.

Wanjiru’s withdrawal from the gubernatorial race might have been influenced by coming together of the ANC, Ford Kenya and UDA parties to form Kenya Kwanza Alliance, which may prefer Sakaja.

Deputy President William Ruto has suffered a major blow after Bungoma Deputy Governor Charles Kibanani Ngome ditched the United Democratic Party (UDA) and reunited with his boss Governor Wycliffe Wangamati in Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).

Speaking at the party’s headquarters at Chui house, Professor Ngome noted that the invasion of Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya in UDA has caused havoc and confusion.

“I joined UDA so that I can unseat Wetang’ula from the senatorial seat but Ford Kenya uniting with UDA brought confusion in the party since I was told that Wetang’ula is my boss. How can my boss be the same person that I am competing with? It doesn’t make sense,” he said.

Ngome went ahead to say that he is so focused to oust Wetang’ula and it should be known to him that as much as he joined UDA, he is not going to step down to pave way for him and instead he is coming on DAP-K party and come 9th of August, the people of Bungoma will decide.

“Why can’t Wetang’ula emulate his counterpart Mudavadi, he is aiming higher positions and not vying for any seat but for him, he is busy vying for the same seat over and over again,” he said.

This also comes after Ngome being at loggerheads with his boss on what was termed as frustrations in his office but it is a reprieve for Wangamati as they now reunite under one party pulling their weight behind each other.

Ngome was welcomed by the DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi and the party patron Eugine Wamalwa.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament and the Chama Cha Kazi Party leader Moses Kuria has opened opened up that he is headed to Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.

Taking to his official Facebook account this morning, the lawmaker said his party and 21 other political parties are in early talks with Kenya Kwanza Alliance ahead of the August polls.

Kuria noted that the talks will lead to a very broad based grand coalition that will deliver the nation to peace and prosperity.

“This is to inform Kenyans that Chama Cha Kazi Party and 21 other political parties are in early talks with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance that will lead to a very broad based grand coalition that will deliver the nation to peace and prosperity. Details to follow,” he posted.

This comes just days after he said that the Azimio la Umoja camp is not an option for him.

His party has scheduled its National Delegates Conference on March 15.

Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is set to have his NDC on the same date.

Moses Kuria’s NDC will be held at the Bomas of Kenya while DP Ruto’s camp will hold theirs at the Kasarani indoors arena.

The Kenya Kwanza Alliance so far has UDA, the Moses Wetang’ula-led Ford Kenya and the Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress (ANC) as affiliate parties.

Do you think Moses Kuria’s entrant will re-energize the Kenya Kwanza Alliance?

Bumula member of parliament Moses Mwambu Mabonga has called out his competitors seeking to unseat him to stop telling lies on his legacy.

The Deputy President William Ruto ally while speaking at an event held at Cardinal Otunga Technical Training Institute told his critics to head to court should day have a complain on how he has managed funds meant for his constituents.

The lawmaker was disbursing a 30 million cheque to university, middle level colleges and high school students in his constituency.

He said that people are using propaganda seeking to be elected instead of them getting their facts right.

“If someone is saying that the money in this constituency cannot be accounted for and he is seeking to be elected as a leader, he should be wise enough to seek the intervention of the court as a good leader and for a person to win or lose a case they should have witnesses and evidence, if they have the two then what is holding them to do so,” he said

He went further to campaign for the United Democratic Party (UDA) saying that the hustler nation can relate to the problems that the common people have and people should instead assume the other parties and focus on supporting the deputy president William Samoei Ruto.

Mwambu went ahead to ask the president to finish his term peacefully and pave the way for the next president that will be elected by the people instead of imposing his choice to the people.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta does not have the interests of the people at heart and that’s why he is much focused to meet his own interests by imposing his president of choice to the people so that it can benefit him. We really fought away the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and we won’t allow an imposed president too, “he said

He also asked the residents to refuse being manipulated and used by the politicians to engage in rowdiness during this campaign season.

Bungoma County Members of Parliament allied to Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) have addressed claims that there is a division in the party following a deal with Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya parties.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi during his party’s NDC at Bomas of Kenya last week agreed to work together with DP Ruto’s UDA and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya ahead of the August polls.

Sirisia MP John Waluke who doubles up as UDA chairman in Bungoma County on Monday January 31, 2022 called out the UDA aspirants to stop speculations that there is an ongoing zoning in the party.

Earlier on, UDA aspirants in the county had complained that they are being harassed by the Bungoma Senator’s party.

They had appealed to DP Ruto to intervene and stop Ford Kenya from harassing them.

But speaking to the press in Bungoma town, Waluke said that Ford Kenya and ANC coming together to work with UDA should be celebrated since it is one way of uniting the Luhya nation and it means well for the people all over the country.

His sentiments were echoed by his Webuye West counterpart Dan Wanyama who said that the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) is an initiative that has looked at all odds and found that the only way to take this country to the next level is by first thinking about the common Mwananchi who is suffering day in day out, and that is the only reason that has brought the three parties together and not to divide as per the ongoing speculations.

Professor Charles Kibanani Ngome, the deputy governor of Bungoma County and also the senatorial aspirant said that he is certain that UDA under the deputy president William Ruto will form the next government and so people should invest in actualizing that instead of causing drifts in the party.

He went further to note that for someone to win a war, allies are needed and so he appreciates the fact that Wetangula decided to team up with UDA and all aspirants from Ford Kenya and UDA should soldier on and brace themselves for a friendly fire.

This comes as UDA clarified that it has no coalition agreement with Mudavadi’s ANC and Wetangula’s Ford Kenya, dismissing reports of a power-sharing deal.

UDA National Chairman Johnson Muthama on Monday said there is no signed agreement between the political parties and that they are currently operating on the basis of friendship.

Addressing a press conference at his Red Office in Gigiri on Monday, the former Machakos senator told supporters to disregard media reports of a deal in the nascent Kenya Kwanza coalition.

Bungoma based businessman cum activist Zachariah Barasa on Monday January 10, 2022 announced that he had joined Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA camp.

The activist will be seeking to unseat the incumbent Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati in the August polls in a UDA ticket.

Flanked by Sirisia member of parliament John Waluke, his Webuye West counterpart Dan Wanyama and Mwambu Mabonga of Bumula at Bungoma Members club, Zachariah expressed his confidence in unseating Wangamati.

The DP Ruto’s lieutenants said that they were ready for the task ahead.

Zachariah criticised Wangamati, noting that Bungoma has not benefited from anything since devolution and now it is time for change and it is only through UDA.

“I have done a lot of consultations before coming to this decision. I have been engaging with the ordinary people of this county and they have advised me to vie on a UDA ticket because the manifesto of the party come in handy with my aspirations for the people of Bungoma,” he said.

Zachariah said that he was positive and confident about UDA, noting that it is the party that’s going to form the next government.

His sentiments were echoed by Waluke who said that Bungoma needs change for those who have been in positions that have not done anything major for the county.

Also present was Bungoma deputy governor Professor Charles Ngome who is also aspiring for the Bungoma senatorial seat which is currently held by the incumbent Moses Wetang’ula .

Ngome vowed to ditch his boss the governor and support any gubernatorial aspirant vying on the United Democratic Alliance [UDA] ticket.

Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has yet again suffered another loss after another ally from the Mt. Kenya region announced that he had decamped.

The former Igembe North MP Joseph M’Eruaki said he had left the UDA party whose symbol is a wheelbarrow and re-joined Mwangi Kiunjuri’s The Service Party of Kenya (TSP).

This comes barely weeks after Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici left the party over claims of mistreatment and favouritism by top UDA leadership.

Ms Ngirichi, a staunch member and supporter of the UDA party until her defection, had also faulted UDA officials “for treating her badly” despite being one of the key founders and investors in party.

Mr M’Eruaki decamped from UDA on Wednesday, joining a growing list of politicians and aspirants leaving the DP Ruto-led party over disagreements on mergers between UDA and smaller parties.

The former MP, who has already declared his interest in reclaiming his former Igembe North seat, was officially received by TSP leader Mwangi Kiunjuri and Secretary-General Mwenda Makathimo.

The Igembe North seat is currently held by National Assembly Deputy Majority Whip Maoka Maore.

Mr M’eruaki had left TSP early November to join UDA, but bowed to pressure from his constituents, majority of whom are TSP supporters.

Self-declared Hustler Nation spokesperson Dennis Itumbi has given the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) a 24-hour ultimatum to make public a comprehensive list of those who reportedly benefitted from the Kemsa scandal.

A damning investigative story by NTV last year had exposed how a few individuals siphoned billions of shillings from the medical supplies agency through fraudulent tenders.

This forced President Uhuru Kenyatta to order investigation into the matter and submit a comprehensive report to him within 21 days.

Through a social media post on Tuesday afternoon, Itumbi has threatened to make public a list of the beneficiaries of the scandal, after the expiry of the 2-hour ultimatum at 1400 hrs on Wednesday.

The former State House employee claims that his team of investigators from the Hustler Nation Intelligent Bureau (HNIB) have gathered the evidence.

He noted that HNIB which works for Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA party will make public the companies and the real beneficiaries of the scandal.

“It shall be done via a live Social Media Address right on this space. HNIB promised months ago, we would investigate and AFTER 8 months we have completed our investigations,” reads part of Itumbi’s post.

For security reasons, Itumbi noted that the information is secured with fifteen other people.

Below is Itumbi’s Facebook post.

Ruto with Waiguru

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua has warned Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru over her decision to ditch President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party for Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

According to Gachagua, UDA is the party that has been chosen by Mt. Kenya people.

The embattled lawmaker now warns that should Waiguru continue ignoring Kirinyaga residents’ party of choice, she risks facing the wrath of the people which he says is more ruthless and long term than State persecution.

Gachagua went ahead to warn that Waiguru will lose her gubernatorial seat in 2022 should she fail to honour residents’ call for her to join UDA.

The warning comes just days after the Krinyaga county chief hinted at decamping the Uhuru camp for the DP Ruto’s hustler nation.

“We applaud Governor Waiguru for the courage, I know they will pester her here and there. But it is better for her to be pestered by police than be punished by citizens. You know the citizens’ punishment is legal it has no appeal once they are done with you it is five years, but this thing of being apprehended on Monday, Friday is a simple thing,” Rigathi told Waiguru.

The Mathira MP who once served as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s personal assistance further extended the welcoming arm to other Jubilee members stating that UDA’s window is wide open for them.

“UDA is a very popular party here and we want to say that all those who are coming are welcome, our party is very democratic, very wide and we will accommodate everybody,” he remarked.

Waiguru’s hint at joining UDA has ignited political rivalry in the region. Kirinyaga County Woman Representative Purity Ngirici is among the closest allies of Ruto who are seeking to battle it out with Waiguru.

Ngirici has already made her bid and has been on several campaign trails to popularise herself to the Kirinyaga electorates.

On her part, Ngirici has maintained that she is ready to face Waiguru in a fair UDA nomination if she makes real her decision to ditch the Jubilee party.

Apart from Ngirici, NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua is also in the race to try and unseat Waiguru. Karua has also made it bold that she will be taking her second stab at the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat after losing in the 2017  General election even after staging several court cases.

Waiguru had earlier admitted that she would lose the Kirinyaga seat if she risked defending it on a Jubilee party ticket.

Deputy President William Ruto has reaped big after the Mwangi Kiunjuri-led The Service Party (TSP) Deputy Secretary General, Njogu Barua ditched the party for United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking in his Gichugu home on Sunday, September 12, Barua announced that he has relinquished his position in the TSP party to join DP Ruto’s UDA.

“I have been the Deputy Secretary General of TSP. We have agreed and have resolved that with immediate effect, I cease being the Deputy Secretary General of The Service Party,” the defecting DSG stated.

The former Gichugu Member of Parliament stated that he would be seeking to recapture the seat on a UDA party ticket.

Barua explained that the decision was guided by the residents of Gichugu constituency.

He stated that the people had already made a decision that Ruto was their preferred candidate for the 2022 General Election.

“Their preferred presidential candidate is none other than William Samoei Arap Ruto,” he reiterated.

The outgoing DSG added that he would not be distracted by anybody, and he and other leaders would seek political positions, especially parliamentary seats through the DP-affiliated outfit.

Barua also rubbished the meeting by Kiunjuri, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, stating that it had been overtaken by events.

Kiunjuri, who was an ally of the Deputy President, fell out with the former over differences in political opinion.

The former CS openly rejected the idea of other parties in the Mt Kenya region dissolving and joining UDA.
