Kanduyi MP elect John Okwisia Makali has asked former MP Athanus Wafula Wamunyinyi to let the bygones go and come on board to help him work towards a better Kanduyi Constituency.

Makali, who held a thanksgiving mass at his home in Bungoma town said that it is time for his opponents to bury the hatchets and forgive each other.

He added that in his regime, he  aims to bring people together including his opponents and those who did not support him.

“I just want to ask Hon. Wamunyinyi to join us, we won’t even follow up on how he has been using the CDF money but if there will  be any need they we shall do so according to the law otherwise  we just want to work together harmoniously,” he  said.

The incoming law maker won the seat on Ford Kenya party against the incumbent DAP-Kenya party leader by garnering 32,099 votes.

Wamunyinyi garnered came second after garnering 20,240 votes.

Makali said that he intends to revive the economy in his constituency by coming up with a strategic plan that will see him accomplish what he  promised  the people during the campaigns, asking the elected leaders in Bungoma  to work together for the benefits of the county.

“We have agreed that we need to have a paradigm shift and work together for the benefits of our people. We are going to put our self interests aside and ensure that we work for the betterment for our people because we were elected on one day though the results were announced on different days but we will be judged also on one say,” he said

On matters of national politics, the former speaker of the county assembly of Bungoma said that as Kenya Kwanza, they believe that their presidential candidate William Ruto will be declared as the winner.

Kanduyi member of parliament Wafula Wamunyinyi who adds up as the party leader of the Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) has said that the Azimio La Umoja coalition does not need Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to win the August presidential election.

Wamunyinyi told off Kalonzo, noting that ODM leader Raila Odinga does not need his support to become the next President of Kenya.

Speaking while giving out a 30 million bursary to help the less fortunate students in his constituency at the CDF offices, Wamunyinyi said that the DAP-K party is fully in AZIMIO and Kalonzo should not drag things from the past to cause havoc in the coalition.

He went ahead to ask the former vice president to declare his stand.

The law maker said that Kalonzo is aware that NASA died a long time ago and he should not use the agreements that were made there and apply them on AZIMIO.

According to Wamunyinyi, Kalonzo played a key role in demolishing NASA and he shouldn’t move forward from that.

“We all know that Baba is going to win these elections with or without Kalonzo. We just accepted him because we want to move forward together as a country. He should not bring up conditions because we already resolved and we already know that our presidential candidate is Raila,” he said.

This comes days after Kalonzo claimed that while in NASA, they had an agreement document dubbed “NASA DEAL” which stated that Raila was to pull his weight behind Kalonzo in 2022 weather he wins or not, as a presidential candidate and it was effective until 2022 and now Raila should honor the agreement and let him take over as a presidential candidate.

Wamunyinyi went further to say that by Kalonzo standing in between the 2007 election, it made it difficult to determine the president which led to post election violence asking him to stop being undecided and join whatever side he wants so that the country can have peaceful elections.

Bungomma senator Moses Wetang’ula has been dealt a blow after the Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu on Monday June 8, 2020 formally gazetted his removal as Ford Kenya party leader.

In a special gazette notice dated June 8, 2020, Nderitu gave notice of Wetangula’s ouster and replacement with Kanduyi Member of Parliament Athanas Wafula Wamunyinyi.

Ms. Nderitu also noted that the party’s National Organizing Secretary Chris Mandu Mandu had also been removed and replaced with Josephine Waungu.

She said anybody with any written submission concerning the intended changes by the political party shall within seven days deposit them with the Registrar of Political Parties.

Ford Kenya’s NEC last week resolved to dismiss Wetang’ula as party leader, citing gross misconduct.

The special NEC meeting picked  Wamunyinyi to take over as Party Leader on an interim basis.

Wetangula quickly fired back, accusing the NEC members of holding an illegal meeting.

He further announced the suspension of party Secretary General Simiyu – who had communicated his ouster— and replaced him with Chris Wamalwa in an interim position.

He also stated that his alleged replacement, Wamunyinyi, had been suspended and replaced with Vincent Mogaka as Sectoral Chair for Livestock.

The drama escalated to the Registrar of Political Parties where the two quarrelling factions sought to register a change of party officials.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has suffered a major blow in a first round of a battle to regain control of Ford Kenya.

On Friday June 5, 2020, the rival faction led by Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu and Kanduyi’s Wafula Wamunyinyi submitted the documents that the registrar of Political Parties needed to give them control of the party.

They successfully convinced the registrar that they had met the quorum needed for a Ford Kenya NEC to remove Wetangula as Party Leader and have him replaced by Wamunyinyi.

The Simiyu-led group had been asked to filed the proper form PP7 which they submitted on Friday.

Wetangula, on his part, has failed to raise the quorum needed to suspend Dr Eseli from the Secretary General Post and Wamunyinyi from the Party Leader’s seat.

“Our side met the quorum and we have submitted the duly signed form PP7, we are only waiting for the Registrar to seal his (Wetangula) fate,” Simiyu stated.

The Ford Kenya Secretary, however, complained that NEC members were being harassed and is expected to file a police complaint later today.

“Ford Kenya NEC members are being threatened in various ways including physical injury. In fact, once I finish addressing you I am heading to the police station to lodge a complaint,” Dr Eseli said.

Bungoma senator Moses Wetang’ula has fired back after a section of Ford Kenya party members kicked him out of the party, accusing him of gross misconduct.

The Ford Kenya’s NEC on Sunday May 31, 2020 resolved to dismiss Wetang’ula as party leader.

A special NEC meeting was convened, in which Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi was picked to take over as party Leader on an interim basis.

Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati who oversaw the dramatic coup said Ford Kenya has a very low history, arguing that the party has two governors and that they were both in support of the changes.

Earlier, there was chaos as Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi was ejected from the meeting.

However, Wetang’ula is his response says that coups are archaic to good order and activities of cowards.

Addressing the press shortly after being kicked out of the party, he said anybody who wants to run for a seat in Ford Kenya must file his/her papers and and meet him at the Bomas during elections.

Wetang’ula says that a grouping calling themselves NEC members of this party airlifted people who are not officials of Ford Kenya party, booked and detained them forcefully overnight and made decisions affecting the party.

He maintained that he was still the Ford Kenya party leader, announcing that the party NEC had resolved to suspend Dr Eseli Simiyu as the party’s secretary general, and his position taken by Kiminini MP Dr Chris Wamalwa.

Wamalwa will be the party’s SG in acting capacity until further notice, according to Wetang’ula. Wamunyinyi was also been fired from his position at the party.

Bungoma Women Representative Catherine Wambilianga has replaced Wamunyinyi as the Bungoma Chairman. She will be deputized by Wafula Wakoli.

Wamunyinyi has also been replaced by Hon.  Millicent MP, for West Mugirango as the sec. of agriculture on NEC.
