I am a graduate having studied Journalism in the largest Media University in Kenya Multimedia university of Kenya; I graduated with a first class owner’s degree, with lots of hope that the future ahead of me was going to be bright having worked really hard in my studies, I wanted to get its fruit back

Before joining multimedia university I passed highly with grade “A,” that landed me to do journalism a course I was so passionate about, that it was going to change my life once and for all, I had been brought in a very humbled background, and by means of well-wishers and contribution I managed to land myself to collage thinking that it was a break through to life, I knew that once I could complete schooling  I could get a job and start earning, Until I learned that here in Kenya, No qualifications matter, but only a God father, bribes. Those were the only things that could help one get a job I Kenya, what if those of us who come from humble backgrounds with no God fathers, nor money to bribe Officials at interview, Perhaps we would just be jobless forever Isn’t it, During my graduation if I can remember very well speaker after speaker who stood to address at the graduation Square, promised me Heaven, they said that had a direct job with no interview, something has not happened for seven years Now. I visited the said offices dropping my Curriculum vitae (C.V) but never landed any job.

My Parents and siblings, were both looking forward to me to get a job and save them from the poverty life we had been staying in for over seventy years now, with nowhere to go to, perhaps I could not go back to the village, it was going to be shame, I was the only hope, I had the qualifications but nobody considered me for a job, I wondered why people with low academic qualifications as mine got Jobs but in my case I never got that luck, I was full of stress, When I vacated the school premises I had nowhere to go to, Nor even money to buy food to it, So I turned to the streets of Nairobi with no hopes of life, armed with my academic piece of polythene paper always by my arm I moved from street to street, just to pass time, when darkness came I could role myself in a sack and sleep under a fly over. During the day I could visit various construction sites and be given casual Job that earned Kenyan shillings 300 per day, that could only cater for food, One day as I was on a construction going by normal chores, I saw a friend of mine who we had schooled with drive an expensive car, he alighted and started to inspect the work done, little did I know the Manson under construction was his. I ran to him and greeted him, he was shocked to see me do that kind of job despite my qualification, after a chat I asked him how he got the job and became rich at his younger age, he was hesitant but after a while he informed me that Kiwanga doctors spell casting powers had helped him. That doctor kiwanga had casted luck spell in his life, and that in a short while things begun going his way, He gave me doctor kiwanga contacts and asked me to talk to them to change my life.

Without hesitance I contacted doctor kiwanga, booked an appointment and met him in person, he informed me that I was being haunted by bad luck from our family, and that he had removed it and casted good luck in me, he told me I would really love it, A day after meeting the doctor I got a message that requested me to go to a news presenter interview, and that’s why I got  my job, I  have improved my life with that of my family. Thanks to kiwanga doctors for helping me. I advise anyone with a work such, nor a good life such to visit kiwanga doctors because they have the solution to your problem, They also cast real and genuine spells in the world like Love spell, Money spell and black magic spell among other spells, Also treat and heal various illnesses Like Meningitis, Pneumonia and Epilepsy among other diseases.

Bungoma law courts Thursday February 10, 2022 resumed hearing of the cases that were presented in court in 2008 by the widows whose husbands were killed unlawfully and some faced enforced disappearance in Mt Elgon during the clashes that happened when the Kenya military was tackling the Sabaot Land Defense Force (SLDF).

Speaking to the press at Bungoma law courts, Victor Kamau who is an advocate and the deputy director of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) said that they were forced to stop the case for a year after the Kenya Defense Force made an application over the same.

He noted that this was the first hearing since it was stopped.

The widows are pleading with the government to hurry the case for them to get justice and compensation.

During the clashes, most people were affected, some lost their lives while some were forced to relocate to look for refuge in some different parts of Bungoma county.

Kamau noted that they have 18 widows on board whom they are helping to get justice for some were left with children who are still dependent on their parents.

Lilian Ndunya who is one of the affected widows noted that she is facing challenges in raising her family after her husband was butchered during the clashes leaving her behind as the breadwinner and with that, she needs the government to intervene and have her and the other affected women compensated.

“We have been here the better part of the day with hope of finally getting justice that we all deserve after our husbands were killed mercilessly but the way things are being dragged, we are just banking our hope on God maybe one day we shall get justice,” she said

Ndunya also asked the government to take charge in ensuring that the country has a peaceful election this year so that post-election violence that was experienced in 2007 is not repeated

The independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has yet again missed out on the target of the anticipated second phase of voter’s registration following a low turnout.

Bungoma county election manager Solomon Mudanya while speaking to this writer noted that since the roll out of the second phase of voter’s registration on 17th January to 6th, the expected number to be registered in Bungoma county was 186,000 but they barely registered a quarter of the desired number which was 33,179 voters only.

Mudanya further expressed his dissatisfaction in the low turnout of the youths saying that the high number among the registered was the medium aged people as compared to the youths.

“I think apathy is high among the young people and should be the main reason that has led to low turnouts among the youths. They tend to not seeing the necessity in engaging in voting because they have been failed by the leaders that they chose before, however, they have the power and the number to elect the right leader who can represent them well but they instead choose to ignore,” he said

He said that Bungoma county was also affected by unnecessary transfers whereby the residents transferred their voter to other counties or different constituencies after being manipulated by the aspirants by giving them handouts.

The second phase of voter’s registration came about after the government failing to meet the target in the first phase hence giving another chance to the citizens who haven’t registered to do so.

Mudanya noted that there might be no other phase to conduct the exercise and so the registered ones might be used to represent those who didn’t register.

Bungoma County Members of Parliament allied to Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) have addressed claims that there is a division in the party following a deal with Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya parties.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi during his party’s NDC at Bomas of Kenya last week agreed to work together with DP Ruto’s UDA and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya ahead of the August polls.

Sirisia MP John Waluke who doubles up as UDA chairman in Bungoma County on Monday January 31, 2022 called out the UDA aspirants to stop speculations that there is an ongoing zoning in the party.

Earlier on, UDA aspirants in the county had complained that they are being harassed by the Bungoma Senator’s party.

They had appealed to DP Ruto to intervene and stop Ford Kenya from harassing them.

But speaking to the press in Bungoma town, Waluke said that Ford Kenya and ANC coming together to work with UDA should be celebrated since it is one way of uniting the Luhya nation and it means well for the people all over the country.

His sentiments were echoed by his Webuye West counterpart Dan Wanyama who said that the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) is an initiative that has looked at all odds and found that the only way to take this country to the next level is by first thinking about the common Mwananchi who is suffering day in day out, and that is the only reason that has brought the three parties together and not to divide as per the ongoing speculations.

Professor Charles Kibanani Ngome, the deputy governor of Bungoma County and also the senatorial aspirant said that he is certain that UDA under the deputy president William Ruto will form the next government and so people should invest in actualizing that instead of causing drifts in the party.

He went further to note that for someone to win a war, allies are needed and so he appreciates the fact that Wetangula decided to team up with UDA and all aspirants from Ford Kenya and UDA should soldier on and brace themselves for a friendly fire.

This comes as UDA clarified that it has no coalition agreement with Mudavadi’s ANC and Wetangula’s Ford Kenya, dismissing reports of a power-sharing deal.

UDA National Chairman Johnson Muthama on Monday said there is no signed agreement between the political parties and that they are currently operating on the basis of friendship.

Addressing a press conference at his Red Office in Gigiri on Monday, the former Machakos senator told supporters to disregard media reports of a deal in the nascent Kenya Kwanza coalition.

How To Buy A House

by Adelide Kamau

Buying a house can seem like a difficult task- it may cost you expensively and emotionally.

However, careful research coupled with determination can earn you your dream house during the pandemic.

But before deciding to buy, you should first consider if homeownership is appropriate for you.

Renting or buying?

When looking for a place to live, the first question you ask yourself will help determine your decision-making process.

Buying may look good since you will end the increasing rent and can build equity.

But the routine maintenance and repairs can drain your bank account. However, renting or buying depends on your needs.

The following are the basic conditions you should consider before buying a house:

  • How long do you plan to stay there?
  • How much can you afford?
  • What’s on the market?
  • Current market price

This means that as a buyer, you should be ready to make several offers and know that you may need to pay more than a home is listed for.

If you still can’t decide whether buying is appropriate for you, you can calculate your payments at https://www.mortgagecalculator.uk/ to understand more about differences in expenses.

If your lifestyle and the hard numbers converge towards buying, then the next step is to determine how much home you can afford.

The above site provide additional calculators which have features like estimating mortgage affordability based on income, you can check this at https://www.mortgagecalculator.uk/affordability/ among others.

How Much Can I Spend On A Home?

To determine how much you can spend, you should consider your budget. Check your bank statements and spending habits for the last several months to determine how much you spend.

Due to this pandemic, homeownership has become more affordable.

Interest rates on mortgages and near record-low territory are approximately three percent. Once you clearly understand your spending habits, consider how much you want to spend on a monthly home payment.

The amount includes your interest, principal, tax, and insurance payment, which add to your monthly mortgage sum.

However, you should note that buying a home involves additional one-time payments that can easily add up, including closing costs, legal fees, and other expenses related to buying.

There are also other payments such as moving or home improvement fees. The pandemic has also caused the financial stakes on the costs for new homeowners to rise.

This is because real estate is competitive; in a bid to get a boost, many buyers have opted to waive contingencies to have their offers accepted.

Plan your finances

If you have decided to buy, attend workshops, open houses and ask questions to real estate agents, take time to ensure your finances are in order. Other factors that may help include:

  • Check your credit score
  • Decide Digital or analog
  • Obtain a mortgage preapproval
  • Prepare cash
  • How Do I Search for The New Home?
  • Check the neighborhood
  • Compare between different places or homes.
  • Visit the site of the chosen house

Conclusion

Even if you decide to begin your journey on a home search to check the existing properties, you may end up deciding to build to get exactly what you want. Also, you may plan to build but later realize an existing home was better. Therefore, seek the help of a qualified professional to ensure the process goes on smoothly.

Bungoma deputy governor Professor Charles Kibanani Ngome has called out Senator Moses Wetangula to stop misleading Bungoma County residents in matters related to politics.

Addressing residents of Bungoma County, Prof Ngome said Wetang’ula is unable to choose a side to support but only keeps jumping from one side to another to fulfill his own interests.

He noted that in 2017 Wetang’ula supported Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and during the campaign, he was against senate speaker Kenneth Lusaka saying he was very corrupt and was not the right person for Bungoma.

Wetang’ula has declared his support for Speaker Lusaka in the race for Bungoma gubernatorial seat.

Lusaka was defeated by Wangamati in the 2017 polls.

Ngome said that Wetangula is doing things targeting at his own interests and not the interests of the people of Bungoma and he should therefore be cancelled completely.

“The big problem that is leading to Wetangula’s fallout with other Bungoma politicians is none other than money related and that is why Wetangula must go for Bungoma to change. If we were to follow what he wanted, this county could not have been where it is right now. The dual carriage and scholarship projects could have not taken place,” he said

He went further to call upon those who haven’t registered as voters to use the second opportunity that is starting today 17th to February 6th saying that it will give them an opportunity to choose the leaders of their choice.

Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has been called out by Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to stop using his power to humiliate every one who goes against his political wishes.

While addressing a press conference at the County Assembly of Bungoma on Friday January 14, 2022, Ndivisi ward MCA Martin Wanyonyi said that Wangamati had earlier on instructed goons to keep the county Deputy governor’s office closed denying him access because he had chosen a different political direction.

Wanyonyi reminded the county boss that every Kenyan has his/her own right to support candidates of their choice, under any political party.

He went further to note that the county is investing a lot of energy towards non-important issues instead of focusing on what’s important for the people of Bungoma.

He touched on the delayed salaries for the casual workers in the county saying that a lot of money was set aside for their salaries but up to now they are yet to be paid and they are still working for the county.

“I am asking the county government of Bungoma to tell us where the money went to. The casuals are not yet paid, instead they are using the money to move around in funerals and cause chaos,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by his counterpart Tony Barasa, Lwandanyi ward MCA who said that the county stake holders need to get their priorities right.

Barasa said that ksh.136 million was set aside to cater for NHIF cards for the county casual workers but still they are unable to get quality services from the health facilities for the money doesn’t reflect.

He therefore asked the stakeholders to come forward and explain where the money went to.

He also urged village elders and the youths to refuse being used by politicians during this campaign.

Bungoma based businessman cum activist Zachariah Barasa on Monday January 10, 2022 announced that he had joined Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA camp.

The activist will be seeking to unseat the incumbent Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati in the August polls in a UDA ticket.

Flanked by Sirisia member of parliament John Waluke, his Webuye West counterpart Dan Wanyama and Mwambu Mabonga of Bumula at Bungoma Members club, Zachariah expressed his confidence in unseating Wangamati.

The DP Ruto’s lieutenants said that they were ready for the task ahead.

Zachariah criticised Wangamati, noting that Bungoma has not benefited from anything since devolution and now it is time for change and it is only through UDA.

“I have done a lot of consultations before coming to this decision. I have been engaging with the ordinary people of this county and they have advised me to vie on a UDA ticket because the manifesto of the party come in handy with my aspirations for the people of Bungoma,” he said.

Zachariah said that he was positive and confident about UDA, noting that it is the party that’s going to form the next government.

His sentiments were echoed by Waluke who said that Bungoma needs change for those who have been in positions that have not done anything major for the county.

Also present was Bungoma deputy governor Professor Charles Ngome who is also aspiring for the Bungoma senatorial seat which is currently held by the incumbent Moses Wetang’ula .

Ngome vowed to ditch his boss the governor and support any gubernatorial aspirant vying on the United Democratic Alliance [UDA] ticket.

Optiven Ltd took the initiative to compensate all customers who bought greenhouses at the Kilimo Tujijenge project, after the partner who had been paid to do this reneged on executing their part of the deal.

Soon after 2017, it became clear to Optiven that SME Resource Centre Ltd and its CEO Josephine Gathoni aka June Gathoni were bent on not delivering what they had promised. Optiven took a quick step to report this entity and its director to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), upon which a criminal case has been ongoing for the last 4 years at the Kiambu Law Courts. Optiven and several Kilimo customers are state witnesses against SME Resource Centre and Josephine Gathoni in this ongoing case.

Optiven is a caring partner; so pending the determination of this ongoing case, Optiven begun refunding all affected customers through a cushioning Risk Sharing Initiative. Under this Initiative, Optiven has refunded most of the affected customers’ funds that were directly paid to SME Resource Centre for greenhouses. This underlines the fact that OPTIVEN CARES and is a RELIABLE PARTNER.

Customers have either been refunded cash or swapped the amount that they had lost through SME Resource Centre with new plot/s of land across the various projects owned by www.optiven.co.ke or offset any outstanding balances on plots they are already servicing.

The Kilimo Tujijenge Project, which was to begin in 2017 in Kajiado County, was a partnership between Optiven and SME Resource Centre and was aimed at enabling customers who were to come on board to venture into agribusiness through a greenhouse farming model.

Optiven was to provide the land and value additions such as drilling of boreholes and piping water into every plot, which it did successfully.

SME Resource Centre on the other hand was to install and manage the greenhouses on behalf of customers in addition to marketing the produce. Customers were to get directly paid by SME Resource Centre after all the harvested produce had been sold and expenses deducted.

SME Resource Centre however reneged on its contractual obligations, which saw customers lose on their investments.

Optiven believes in the empowerment of its customers and opted this route as a positive outcome from the ongoing criminal case is hopefully awaited.

Meanwhile, Optiven is alive to the fact that there are a few customers who were affected by this reneged execution by SME Resource Centre, and who opted not to take up the offered cushion, but opted to seek for their compensation through a court process. Optiven will await the outcome of this case that is pending at the Kajiado Law Courts and commits to fully respect and follow the ultimate outcome of this matter when and once concluded.

Optiven Leadership takes this opportunity to apologize to the customers who got affected by this venture. We VALUE you and this is the reason why we opted to do a refund of the cash paid for those greenhouses that did not materialize.

In case you paid for your greenhouse and you have not gotten your refund maybe due to change of your contact or for any other inadvertent technicality, call this number for your refund 0790 300 300 or send an email to customerservice@optiven.co.ke for immediate action.

For those who would like to invest with Optiven, check on our unique properties on www.optiven.co.ke and enjoy our 21 years of experience in empowering current and prospective property owners.

The national chairman of Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Johnson Muthama has stirred mixed reactions on the internet after sending his birthday wishes to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The former Prime Minister on January 7, 2022 marked his 77th birthday.

Joining other Kenyans in wishing Raila well on his special day was the former Machakos County Senator, who was once his political loyalist.

Muthama who is currently a staunch supporter of DP Ruto through his official Twitter account said that the hustler nation was wishing Raila good health as he celebrates his special day.

Muthama who has declared his interest in the Machakos County gubernatorial seat shared a photo of him with Raila at a past political event, with the caption catching the attention of netizens.

“Happy Birthday Jakom (Raila Odinga). The Hustler Nation wishes you good health as you celebrate your special day,” reads Muthama’s post.

A section of netizens while reacting to the post hailed Muthama for displaying what they termed as statesmanship.

Some argued that the UDA chairman had demonstrated that he is indeed a leader.

“Now, this is leadership. Very good gesture from you sir. We may disagree on some issues but we are all Kenyans. Baba the 5th,” posted one of the netizens.

“Now u have my vote as governor machakos. This has earned you my vote,” another Twitter user called Kevine Oscar reacted.

Muthama was in Raila’s NASA camp during the last 2017 general elections, but did not defend his senate seat. During the 2013 general elections, he was also in Raila’s CORD camp, winning the Machakos senatorial seat on a Wiper party ticket, which was an affiliate of the coalition.

Below are some of the reactions from Muthama’s post.

Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has yet again suffered another loss after another ally from the Mt. Kenya region announced that he had decamped.

The former Igembe North MP Joseph M’Eruaki said he had left the UDA party whose symbol is a wheelbarrow and re-joined Mwangi Kiunjuri’s The Service Party of Kenya (TSP).

This comes barely weeks after Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici left the party over claims of mistreatment and favouritism by top UDA leadership.

Ms Ngirichi, a staunch member and supporter of the UDA party until her defection, had also faulted UDA officials “for treating her badly” despite being one of the key founders and investors in party.

Mr M’Eruaki decamped from UDA on Wednesday, joining a growing list of politicians and aspirants leaving the DP Ruto-led party over disagreements on mergers between UDA and smaller parties.

The former MP, who has already declared his interest in reclaiming his former Igembe North seat, was officially received by TSP leader Mwangi Kiunjuri and Secretary-General Mwenda Makathimo.

The Igembe North seat is currently held by National Assembly Deputy Majority Whip Maoka Maore.

Mr M’eruaki had left TSP early November to join UDA, but bowed to pressure from his constituents, majority of whom are TSP supporters.
