Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has rubbished claims that he is set to ditch Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for the ruling Jubilee party.

The lawmaker says he is still strongly behind Ruto and that he is determined to see him take over the government come 9th of August.

Addressing his constituents in Kibingei ward at Khwiroro market, Barasa said that he indeed had a talk with the Jubilee party members but he has not declared to have moved from the United Democratic Party(UDA) terming it as propaganda.

“I met with the Jubilee party members and because of my good work, they asked me to join and work with them, just before I make a decision, they have already started walking around propagating lies that I have ditched UDA,I want to tell them that I am strongly behind William Ruto, ”he said.

This comes after an MP and MCAs allied to Ruto in western region decamped from the party led by the former UDA chairman John Waluke and joined the Jubilee party who’s leader is president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Barasa went further to urge the residents to bank their trust in him and his party boss William Ruto saying that with him, the country will be able to revive the ailing economy making sure that every Kenyan gets a sustainable living.

“The current government doesn’t care about the hustling Kenyans and that’s why I am asking you to vote in the leaders who can relate to the problems that common people go through, ”he said.

Bumula member of parliament Mwambu Mabonga has asked Ministry of Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa to stop misleading the Luhya community.

According to Mwambu, Wamalwa puts his interest first more than the people of Bungoma and so he should let the people choose the leader of their choice.

While addressing the residents at Lwanja in Bumula constituency, Mwambu said that if at all Eugine had the interest of the people of Bungoma at heart then he would have fought hard to even have the fertilizer’s prices lowered.

This comes after the DAP-K party held a similar meeting in the same constituency recently drumming up support for Azimio La Umoja coalition whose presidential candidate is ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Mabonga lashed out at the Azimio allies saying that instead of dedicating themselves in improving the living standards of their own people, they are busy moving around and using the government resources to form many political parties to satisfy their own interests.

“Azimio team was here last week and instead of campaigning and telling the people what they have in store for them, they are busy insulting me. That shows how confused they are, and they should get their priorities right,” he said.

Mabonga went ahead to lament on how the government is blackmailing the Kenya Kwanza alliance supporters forcing them to pull their weight behind Azimio.

This comes after Sirisia MP John Waluke ditching UDA for the Jubilee party which is allied to Azimio.

The first term MP went further to campaign for Ruto and the entire UDA team saying that once they take over the government, they will budget 100 million shillings to the struggling residents so they can relate to the problems that happen.

His sentiments were echoed by women rep aspirant Nancy Kibaba who recently ditched AZIMIO for UDA saying that it is a movement with no agenda.

This is after 30 elected Members of Kiambu County Assembly ditched President Kenyatta’s Jubilee party for his United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Ruto through his official social media handles on Saturday March 12, 2022 said that the 30 MCAs believe that there should be a new paradigm shift to build Kenya’s economy from the bottom.

“The Kenya Kwanza team is growing bigger each day. 30 elected MCAs from Kiambu County have quit Jubilee and joined UDA. They believe that there should be a new paradigm shift to build our economy from the bottom. Karibuni Hustler Nation!” Ruto tweeted.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has apologised over his ‘madoadoa’ statement that he made ni Wajir County on Wednesday.

Speaking on Friday during his tour of Kisumu County, Raila clarified his statement that has caused mixed reactions from Kenyans, claiming that he meant voters shouldn’t elect non-Azimio La Umoja leaders.

The former Prime Minister said no Kenyan should be discriminated based on ethnicity.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) had earlier today summoned Raila over the remarks that were deemed to have fuelled up ethnic tensions ahead of the August polls.

Odinga made the utterances on March 9, 2022 when he took his Azimio la Umoja campaigns to Wajir County as he continues to drum up support for his presidential bid.

“In his remarks, he mentioned the term ‘Madoadoa’ which is considered a hate speech term in Kenya,” NCIC’s Chairman Samuel Kobia said in a statement.

Kobia added that the commission, under his watch, will continue to advocate for good relations, harmony and peaceful co-existence of persons of different ethnic and racial communities while discouraging ethnic discrimination in the August General elections.

In a reaction to NCIC summon, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen raised questions in the manner in which the ODM leader’s case is being handled.

Murkomen now wants the DCI to immediately arrest Raila and put him in custody.

Murkomen in a tweet appeared to suggest that Raila should be treated the same way as Meru Senator Mithika Linturi who was arrested and arraigned for his ‘madoadoa’ remark he made in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu.

At the same time, he poked holes in the NCIC letter and questioned when he will present himself for the summon.

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has dropped her quest to become the next Nairobi County Governor in the upcoming August general elections.

Instead, the former Starehe MP has opted for the Nairobi Senate seat.

She will now have to square it out with Karen Nyamu in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries.

A leaked UDA party receipt that has gone viral shows that the Jesus Is Alive Ministries bishop had paid a total sum of Kshs. 125,000 as a nomination fee for Nairobi County senator.

Early February, the Nairobi gubermnatorial hopeful Senator Johnson Sakaja and Margaret Wanjiru brought a ‘Kenya Kwanza’ whistle-stop rally at the City Park to a halt after Sakaja’s supporters reportedly booed the woman of the cloth.

Bishop Wanjiru accused Sakaja of inciting his followers against her.

Sakaja did not address the allegations, but appealed to the crowd to allow all the candidates an opportunity to sell their agenda.

Wanjiru’s withdrawal from the gubernatorial race might have been influenced by coming together of the ANC, Ford Kenya and UDA parties to form Kenya Kwanza Alliance, which may prefer Sakaja.

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has sent a piece of advice to Wiper Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Through his official Twitter account, the Bungoma senator who is also a Kenya Kwanza Alliance co-principal told Kalonzo not to allow political turncoats to shape his destiny.

Wetang’ula advised the former Vice President to think carefully before entering any coaltion deal with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He cited the history of betrayal and deceit, plus the arrogance being displayed as reasons why Kalonzo should turn down any calls for him to board the Azimio La Umoja train.

“My dear brother and friend Vp Kalonzo don’t allow political turncoats to shape your destiny. With the history of betrayal and deceit, plus the arrogance being displayed, think carefully before you enter the tent,” tweeted Wetang’ula.

Kalonzo has remained indecisive on whether to go alone, join Deputy President William Ruto’s side or Raila’s side.

Wetang’ula’s advice comes just hours after Kalonzo hosted his OKA counterpart Gideon Moi and Jimmy Kibaki who is the party leader of the New Democrats Party.

Kanu party leader Gideon Moi earlier today denied the media reports that the party was planning to ditch One Kenya Alliance (OKA) for Azimio la Umoja.

In a statement, the Kanu chairman said the party is firmly in OKA.

He has further said that OKA was united as a coalition, “and we have taken a common position that our talks with the Azimio and any other parties, must be structured, open and honest if we are to make progress.”

Gideon Moi has said that sentiments by Party Secretary-General Nick Salat, including the declaration that the party will attend the Azimio coalition NDC on Saturday, were his personal opinions.

Deputy President William Ruto has suffered a major blow after Bungoma Deputy Governor Charles Kibanani Ngome ditched the United Democratic Party (UDA) and reunited with his boss Governor Wycliffe Wangamati in Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).

Speaking at the party’s headquarters at Chui house, Professor Ngome noted that the invasion of Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya in UDA has caused havoc and confusion.

“I joined UDA so that I can unseat Wetang’ula from the senatorial seat but Ford Kenya uniting with UDA brought confusion in the party since I was told that Wetang’ula is my boss. How can my boss be the same person that I am competing with? It doesn’t make sense,” he said.

Ngome went ahead to say that he is so focused to oust Wetang’ula and it should be known to him that as much as he joined UDA, he is not going to step down to pave way for him and instead he is coming on DAP-K party and come 9th of August, the people of Bungoma will decide.

“Why can’t Wetang’ula emulate his counterpart Mudavadi, he is aiming higher positions and not vying for any seat but for him, he is busy vying for the same seat over and over again,” he said.

This also comes after Ngome being at loggerheads with his boss on what was termed as frustrations in his office but it is a reprieve for Wangamati as they now reunite under one party pulling their weight behind each other.

Ngome was welcomed by the DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi and the party patron Eugine Wamalwa.

A Nairobi man has gone viral on social media for writing an official complaint to Co-operative bank of Kenya that his wife has been sleeping with the bank’s three top officials.

The man called Samuel T Mwangi claims that his wife identified as Caroline Wanjiku, who works at Cooperative Bank Westlands Branch, is cheating on him with her office colleagues and as a result, he wants her to be transferred from the branch.

Surprisingly, this has been happening for over a year, and the man just played cool so that he can gather enough evidence.

He wrote a letter to the bank’s Human Resource Officer and presented evidence in PDF form to prove that his wife is having sexual affairs with her office colleagues.

He titled his letter “OFFICAL COMPLAINT-SEXUAL AFFAIR AND INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIPS”.

His evidence included MPESA transactions, CCTV footages and google maps that placed the accused senior officials at the bank at the alleged scenes.

He revealed that his wife even had sex with one of her colleagues in the car along Thika Road.

He goes on to argue that one of the bosses at the bank’s Westlands branch has been blocking his wife’s numerous transfers.

Here’s the evidence that he presented to the HR manager in PDF form and left his wife badly exposed.

The world has today commemorated women’s day with a theme dubbed #Breakthebias.

Women are normally celebrated on 8th of March every year on their social, political and economic achievement and others mentored to rise above and beyond.

While marking the day at a celebration held at Kibabii University in Bungoma county, Joselyne Isigi, a motivational speaker joined a group of women activists and engaged with other women in the institution, asking them to believe in themselves and rise above and beyond.

She went ahead to ask women to cooperate, more so those in marriages.

She asked them to stop competing with men noting that the cases of domestic violence and suicidal cases have been on the rise.

“We hear suicidal cases among men and women therefore it is my humble appeal to parents and lecturers to mentor these young ladies into great cooperatives in future,” she said.

Her sentiments were echoed by Professor Ipara Odeo, the vice chancellor of Kibabii university who advocated for women to be given more opportunities in various centers and organizations saying that many of them are running many departments in the university and they are doing very well.

“I am here to confirm that this university has given women opportunities of running various departments and it is evident that they deliver so much and so what a man can do, women can do better,” he said

He went ahead to ask the society not to forget about the men in the society saying that it shouldn’t always be about women for they both deserve a chance to be celebrated.

Odeo pointed out that the society has concentrated on girl child more than on the boy child saying that it shouldn’t be that way and instead both genders should be mentored to achieve the best in life and in line with this year’s theme of ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’.

Heads of government bodies are gradually attempting to extend their tenures when not working with sidekicks to get ‘some work’ once they get out of office.

Remember the case of Ezekiel Mutua when he was CEO at Kenya Film and Classification Board?

The man Kenyans nicknamed ‘Deputy Jesus Christ’ for playing moral police with content on television, allegedly tried arm-twisting the Board to extend his term in 2021?

In a letter to ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru in July 2021, the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC) said Mutua, had planned to extend his term in office, to serve a third term at the helm of KFCB.

He however dismissed the allegation terming it as sideshows. “I’m concentrating on my responsibility of protecting children from harmful content and I have no time for sideshows,” Mutua said, then.

More than that, the ‘Deputy Jesus’ was also accused by the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu of overpaying his salary by Sh3.1 million in 2020 without approval from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

A similar script could be playing out at the Kenya Year Book Editorial Board where the leadership of CEO, Edward Mwasi, is being questioned in some quarters.

Allegations against Mwasi include planning to plant stooges like Peter Okong’o as his possible successor.

Okong’o, who was laid off from mainstream media houses like The Standard over issues related to performance, was hired while another employee (with a Masters Degree) was laid off and has since taken legal action.

Other disgruntled parties who have threatened legal action include contracted writers like Francis Mwaniki, previously an experienced Revise Editor at the Daily Nation.

Mwaniki engaged lawyers over payments for editorial work done for the Kenya Year Book.

Furthermore,Mwasi hoodwinked Information Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru into appointing Wilson Kipkazi “a perennial member of many government boards” into the Board of Kenya Year Book despite having served his full term!

The move was illegal, and George Opiyo, a former hired insider has threatened to take legal action over the matter.

Other murmurs of discontent revolve around arm-twisting the procurement department into favouring specific service providers in publishing books.

Then there are some money-wasting and kickback-inspired projects meant to showcase milestones of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 Agenda.

But the books being churned out by Kenya Year Book feature scanty research and are little more than an “internet compilation of other government reports.”

A source from the ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs said; “Mwasi has created power structures within and outside the organization through which he fights employees and consultants perceived to know the end result of his machinations. Moreover, the Year Book has nothing other than some compilation of other government reports.”

The quality of content in this year’s Kenya Year Book, for one, has been singled out as being below par.

The 2021 Kenya Year Book, which is meant to summarize progress and opportunities in different key sectors of our country, is nothing but 300 pages of photos most of them downloaded from the internet!

It compares poorly to other Kenya Year Books before he took over as CEO.

Basically, the 2021 Kenya Year Book is nothing but a series of photos with deep captions!

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have been urged to bar political candidates accused of corruption from vying.

Taking to his official Twitter account Sunday morning, activist Boniface Mwangi asked Kenyans with any idea on how to ensure the corrupt candidates are blocked to came forth and let him know.

He went further to ask Kenyans to start a public petition asking presidential candidates not give their party tickets to criminals such as drug dealers, thieves and murderers.

“If anyone has any idea how we can ensure @EACCKenya@IEBCKenya@DCI_Kenya don’t clear candidates accused of corruption, let me know. Someone should also start a public petition asking presidential candidates not give their party tickets to drug dealers, thieves and murderers,” he posted.

The call comes barely 5 months to the August general elections.

Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga has called out ODM leader Raila Odinga over what he termed as his empty promises to the people of Western Kenya.

Speaking at Mianga market during a Kenya Kwanza Alliance rally, Mwambu alleged that the former premier played a key role in bringing down Mumias Sugar Company.

Mabonga claimed that Raila is part of those who squandered the cash meant to operate the once giant miller.

This comes a day after Azimio La Umoja coalition held a rally in Bungoma led by its presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

He went further to say that Raila is not a farmer and that’s why he cannot relate to the problems that face the farmers in western region.

“Raila was here two months ago and he promised that by the time the farmers from this region begin preparing their farms for planting season, the fertilizer prices would have gone down two the normal price, yesterday he was in Bungoma and he didn’t mention a thing about it, “he said.

Mabonga went ahead to say that the handshake government is busy using the funds meant for the fertilizer to form political parties all over the country which after the election will be compressed under Jubilee instead of using the funds to benefit the citizens.

He went on to rubbish Mukhisa Kituyi’s move to pull his weight behind Raila Odinga after dropping his presidential bid saying that he doesn’t have any influence there for he is unable to pinpoint one standing project that he has done for the people of western.

“That is an old man who has no agenda for this country and that’s why we should decide as one come 9th of August to send him home,” he said.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament and the Chama Cha Kazi Party leader Moses Kuria has opened opened up that he is headed to Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.

Taking to his official Facebook account this morning, the lawmaker said his party and 21 other political parties are in early talks with Kenya Kwanza Alliance ahead of the August polls.

Kuria noted that the talks will lead to a very broad based grand coalition that will deliver the nation to peace and prosperity.

“This is to inform Kenyans that Chama Cha Kazi Party and 21 other political parties are in early talks with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance that will lead to a very broad based grand coalition that will deliver the nation to peace and prosperity. Details to follow,” he posted.

This comes just days after he said that the Azimio la Umoja camp is not an option for him.

His party has scheduled its National Delegates Conference on March 15.

Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is set to have his NDC on the same date.

Moses Kuria’s NDC will be held at the Bomas of Kenya while DP Ruto’s camp will hold theirs at the Kasarani indoors arena.

The Kenya Kwanza Alliance so far has UDA, the Moses Wetang’ula-led Ford Kenya and the Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress (ANC) as affiliate parties.

Do you think Moses Kuria’s entrant will re-energize the Kenya Kwanza Alliance?

Kanduyi member of parliament Wafula Wamunyinyi who adds up as the party leader of the Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) has said that the Azimio La Umoja coalition does not need Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to win the August presidential election.

Wamunyinyi told off Kalonzo, noting that ODM leader Raila Odinga does not need his support to become the next President of Kenya.

Speaking while giving out a 30 million bursary to help the less fortunate students in his constituency at the CDF offices, Wamunyinyi said that the DAP-K party is fully in AZIMIO and Kalonzo should not drag things from the past to cause havoc in the coalition.

He went ahead to ask the former vice president to declare his stand.

DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi. Photo/Pauline Waswa/Dailytrends.co.ke

The law maker said that Kalonzo is aware that NASA died a long time ago and he should not use the agreements that were made there and apply them on AZIMIO.

According to Wamunyinyi, Kalonzo played a key role in demolishing NASA and he shouldn’t move forward from that.

“We all know that Baba is going to win these elections with or without Kalonzo. We just accepted him because we want to move forward together as a country. He should not bring up conditions because we already resolved and we already know that our presidential candidate is Raila,” he said.

This comes days after Kalonzo claimed that while in NASA, they had an agreement document dubbed “NASA DEAL” which stated that Raila was to pull his weight behind Kalonzo in 2022 weather he wins or not, as a presidential candidate and it was effective until 2022 and now Raila should honor the agreement and let him take over as a presidential candidate.

Wamunyinyi went further to say that by Kalonzo standing in between the 2007 election, it made it difficult to determine the president which led to post election violence asking him to stop being undecided and join whatever side he wants so that the country can have peaceful elections.
