Government spokesperson Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna has been forced to issue an update on Covid-19 regulations after politicians seemed to have resumed political rallies.

Through his official social media handles, Oguna appealed to the members of the public and the political class to continue adhering to the stipulated Covid-19 regulations.

He reiterated that all public gatherings including political rallies remain suspended in the country to cut the chain of transmission and reduce the rising cases of the deadly coronavirus.

“We appeal to members of the public, including the political class, to adhere to the stipulated #COVID19 regulations. As a reminder, all public gatherings, including political rallies remain suspended. This is to ensure that we cut the chain of transmission and reduce the rising cases of #COVID-19 infection in the country,” he tweeted.

Over the weekend, the Okoa Kenya Alliance (OKA) leaders and their allies retreated to Naivasha to discuss their political path ahead of 2022.

At the same time, ODM leader Raila Odinga and his team were in Nakuru county on Tuesday August 17, where Raila addressed a road-side rally.

Deputy President William Ruto on the other hand has been meeting different political leaders at his Karen residence in Nairobi to chat his political path ahead of 2022 presidential polls.

The acts have caused an uproar among netizens, who have now flocked social media to demand for the lifting of the curfew.

With the Covid-19 cases continuing to spike in Kenya, do you think it is right to relax the stipulated Covid-19 regulations?

Months after the long-serving National Police Service Spokesperson Charles Owino was moved to the Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons as a Deputy Director, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has made his replacement.

IG Mutyambai on Tuesday August 17, 2021 appointed Bruno Soshio, a seasoned detective as the new police spokesperson.

The appointment makes Soshio the third spokesperson at NPS under the new dispensation, which started in 2012.

The Kenya Police and Administration Police Service were put under one command of the Inspector General of Police, under the new dispensation .

Owino was moved following changes in the National Police Service announced by IG Mutyambai on May 8, 2021.

Established in 2003, the Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons bring together government and civil society and is charged with the responsibility of coordinating all of Kenya’s actions on small arms.

But who is Bruno Soshio, the man that has now replaced Charles Owino?

Well, before his deployment, Soshio who is a former deputy head of the Banking Fraud Investigations Unit served at the UN headquarters, New York.

At the time Ndegwa Muhoro served as the Director of Criminal Investigations, Soshio also served as his personal assistant.

After the Garissa University College terror attack that occurred on April 2, 2015, Soshio was among five officers appointed to investigate the incident and conduct general response to it.

He now comes in at the time the National Police Service is facing pressure from the public following recent murders where police have been accused of executing.

It is also just a year to the next general election. Do you think he will deliver?

Renown political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has sparked mixed reactions after taking to his official social media accounts to allege a political assassination on Jubilee nominated Senator Victor Prengei.

Senator Prengei who became popular among Kenyans when Jubilee party wanted to kick him out alongside Senator Millicent Omanga over disloyalty last year, died in an accident on Monday night August 16, at Gioto area in Nakuru County.

He was a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.

His death was death was confirmed by area police boss Beatrice Kiraguri.

Reports indicate that Prengei was heading towards Kabarak direction from Nakuru Town, when the vehicle he was driving lost control and careened off the road before landing in a ditch at 9:45pm.

According to police, it was a self-involved accident, meaning the legislator’s vehicle did not ram an oncoming vehicle or one headed the same direction.

Prengei was rushed to Nakuru War Memorial Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

However, Mutahi Ngunyi has read malice in the manner in which the accident occurred.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the political analyst argued that there is someone who was going to benefit from the death of the lawmaker.

According to Ngunyi, Prengei might have been assassinated through an accident. He further argued that the political beneficiary is the one who killed the senator.

“The QUI BONO question: Who BENEFITS if Senator Victor Prengei is ASSASSINATED through an accident? The political beneficiary is the one who KILLED him. Simple,” he tweeted.

Mutahi Ngunyi’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions, with a section of netizens telling hi off. Some urged him to stop politicizing the death.

Below are some of the reactions.

MIC Vice President Mariam Ahmed said their collaboration with Alwalydayn will ensure that girls will receive an annual supply of sanitary towels.

“MIC is proud to be involved with this cause of ending period poverty in Kenya. Our collaboration with Alwalydayn will ensure that girls will receive an annual supply of sanitary towels.” said Mariam Ahmed.

Alwalydayn houses 150 infant to teen girls who are orphaned, abused, trafficked and forced into early marriages.

According to Alwalydayn Center CEO Ms.Fatma Bakthir, 45 girls at the rescue center are currently menstruating with each requiring a minimum of two and maximum of five packets of pads a month.

She further noted that the number is expected to rise, piling expense pressure.

“Aside from the basic needs that are adequately provided for and all the children’s rights are met, the provision of sanitary towels is an expensive affair. Thus, the collaboration with Mama Ibado Charity will relieve the load and worry of catering for the sanitary towels and whatever provision of the budget that was set aside for it could be used to cater for other expenses such as academic materials, clothing among other basic items,” said Ms.Fatma Bakthir.

Alwalidayn offers girls all basic needs and equips them with academic and economic knowledge to help them navigate through life once they exit the center.

In support of the donation, 748 Air Services has donated plane tickets to Mama Ibado Charity.

This is not the first time the renown airline is supporting such a course. Recently, Fly 748 flew MIC team to participate in the distribution of sanitary towels to more than 300 girls in Kakamega County.

748 Air services and staff have also donated over Sh 500,000 ($5000) in funding on a monthly basis to provide balanced meals for seniors in Isiolo and Kakamega Counties.

Mr. Ahmed Jibril, the MIC Founder and Chairman 748 Air Services said the airline is playing a role towards achieving UN SDG  goal number 2 of zero hunger and goal number 4 -Quality education.

This, Ahmed Jibril said, is being achieved by leveling the playing field such that the girl child can stay in school and also receive quality education.

“I would also like to inform our esteemed clients that by flying “Fly 748” you are indirectly contributing towards achieving the above SDG goals.” said Mr. Ahmed Jibril.

The high court at Nairobi, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, a Multi-Agency Team on airports security and several other state investigative agencies on financial matters have found a raft of allegations made by Yusuf Abdi Adan against his co-directors at Bluebird Aviation Limited as being invalid, unsupported and untrue.

Mr. Yusuf had filed a suit and made allegations of fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering against three directors and his co-shareholders – Hussein Ahmed Farah, Hussein Unshur Mohamed and Mohamed Abdikadir Adan.

Bringing an end to the suit that dragged on in the courts since March 2016, Hon Mr. Justice Alfred Mabeya, who is the Principal Judge of the Commercial & Tax Division of the High Court, dismissed the suit in its entirety with costs to the defendants.

The court noted that “In the present case, all that the plaintiff did was to make sweeping allegations without any backing by way of evidence”. He emphasized the guiding principle in judicial reasoning that “the allegations against a director must be substantiated and verifiable to establish grounds for protecting the company against fraudulent directors.

Without such evidence, allegations remain allegations, and a court of law will not grant any orders on the grounds of unsupported allegations” or on an alleged facts that were not “sufficiently particularized to reveal a plausible cause of action against the defendants.” The plaintiff simply did not have the facts to pursue the relief he sought.

The court findings follows an earlier investigation by the DCI that involved Kenya Revenue Authority, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Kenya Airport Authority, The Financial Reporting Centre and the company’s bankers concluded that “Generally, it was untenable to investigate some of the allegations because the complainant did not provide the foundation for his allegations. His statements did not shine any light on them or provide any empirical evidence on the numerous allegations.

He did not disclose the sources of his information or the basis for making such allegations, and where he made claims, we found those claims farfetched”.

The high court had previously dismissed an attempt to wind up the company and when the plaintiff appealed, the court of appeal also dismissed his petition with costs to the defendants.

Mr. Yusuf is now faced with a mountain of legal costs involving several law firms that represented the defendants including Oraro & Co. Advocates, Archer & Wilcock Advocates, Sagana Biriq & Co. Advocates, Michael Daud & Co. Advocates and Kemboy & Co. Advocates. Mr. Yusuf was represented by Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi.

In its 53 page ruling, the court noted that the plaintiff had sought that his shares be bought by the remaining members of the company in a letter to the defendants prior to filing an avalanche of lawsuits.

When he was asked to follow the laid down procedure in the Articles of the Company, he moved the court with a petition to wind up the company.

Even in the winding up petition, the plaintiff sought that he be bought out.

The ruling further noted that Article 9 of the company’s Articles of Association “enables the buying out of shares of any leaving shareholder by the remaining shareholders” and that this was one of many such remedies available to the plaintiff instead of him “dragging the company through litigation which is costly and will affect the company’s operations, reputation and future business.’

“Doubt is cast in the mind of the court as to whether the company’s future is of any concern to him the plaintiff. He has vigorously evinced his desire of finding a way out of the company at the best price. From his conduct, it can be safely concluded that his heart and mind departed from the company way back and he has no room for the best interest of the company”, the judge emphatically said.

The court noted that the plaintiff, Mr. Yusuf Abdi Adan, apart from filing complaints with state agencies, has also filed “numerous lawsuits against the company and entities that it has done business with. These include – i) the present case; ii) Milimani High Court Civil Case No. 182 of 2017; iii) Milimani High Court Civil Case No. 197 of 2017; iv) Court of Appeal at Nairobi Civil Appeal No. 262 of 2016; and v) Winding Up Cause No. 7 of 2016.”

The allegations regarding these entities were dismissed as being unsubstantiated and unproven.

The court agreed with the defendants that the plaintiff’s actions and behavior clearly shows that he was not acting to promote the success of the company.

“It is the court’s view that, the effect of filing the above cases will be to reduce the company’s creditworthiness, its goodwill among members of the public and to demotivate its employees, to say the least.”

The judge further asserted that “the suits filed, particularly the winding up cause, was intended to scare away the company’s customers thereby drastically damage its reputation and success”.
The court further noted that the three defendants- Hussein Ahmed Farah, Hussein Unshur Mohamed and Mohamed Abdikadir Adan- built the company from an initial purchase of one aircraft on credit and flying it until the company was financially stable. “That it was their combined skill, effort, time and capital that led to the growth and success of the company.

That from the very beginning, the plaintiff was never involved in the management of the company as he was only approached to buy a share as a potential permanent customer, as he was in the business of miraa exportation”, the court found that these contentions were not denied or challenged by Mr. Yusuf Abdi Adan.

In several pointed questions, the court quipped “the court must ask itself, would a faithful director exercising independent judgment file a winding up petition against a company, seeking orders to have it wound up, or in the alternative, orders directing the remaining members to buy out his shares? Would such a director then file a derivative claim, 21 days after filing a winding cause, to protect the very company he intends to legally kill? Would he, during the subsistence of the derivative claim, file other cases with the similar causes of action as in the derivative suit? The inescapable answer to the foregoing questions is in the negative. No faithful director exercising independent judgement would take any of the said measures, none of which are beneficial to the company. In fact, all the steps taken by the plaintiff were contrary to the success of the company. They were meant to sound a death knell on the company. The upshot is that the plaintiff cannot be said to have brought the application in good faith.”

It further noted that the “Court is alive to the allegations by the defendants that the plaintiff only contributed Kshs. 150,000/= as his capital at the inception of the company.

That he never made any further contribution thereafter. He never actively participated in the affairs of the company for 23 years. If he had been excluded, he never took action on it. The court concludes that he did so willingly.”
The Principal Judge noted that the “2nd defendant reminded the court of the story of King Solomon’s wisdom in the Bible. That the plaintiff has already attempted to murder the baby through the winding up petition. Having failed in that attempt, he has asked two courts to split the baby by his pursuit for a buyout. In this case, King Solomon declines the invitation” and with those words Mr. Yusuf was left to count that which would have been.

Despite dating for several years after meeting for the first time at an even, DJ Saint said Karen did not want to be challenged in so many things.

He noted that she would tell him not to come home at 3 am and the following day she comes at that same time.

According to him, this is one of the reasons as to why Karen Nyamu has been facing troubles in her relationships.

Every time was an argument. It was getting toxic and separating was the best option left,” said the father of two.

Karen Nyamu recently accused musician Samidoh of beating her and smashing her phone. The two have a child together.

In a live conversation on Instagram on Monday night, Karen alleged that Samidoh assaulted her, yet she is three months pregnant with their second child.

Samidoh and Karen have a nine-month-old baby together. He is married to Edday Kimani and together they have two children.

In March, the singer publicly apologised to his family and fans after Karen shared a video of him sharing a moment with their child.

Samidoh further admitted to having a ‘friendship’ with the former Nairobi Woman Representative candidate, which led to the birth of their son.

Just hours after Turkish businessman Harun Aydin jetted out of the country for Turkey, details of items that police had recovered from him have emerged.

Harun Aydin, a close associate of Deputy President William Ruto was on Saturday morning arrested at Wilson Airport while re-entering Kenya from Uganda.

He was forced to spend two nights in police custody after he was detained by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) over terror links.

The alleged investor was part of DP Ruto’s entourage to Uganda in his aborted trip.

On Monday August 9, 2021, Harun was supposed to be produced at the Kahawa West Law Courts according to his lawyers, only for reports to emerge that he had been deported back to Turkey.

DP Ruto’s allies later dismissed reports of Harun being deported, and claimed that he had been asked to leave the country voluntarily.

On Monday evening, DP Ruto through his official social media accounts claimed that he had spoken to Harun, and was informed that he had bought himself an air ticket back to Turkey.

Hours later, Hustler Nation Spokesperson Dennis Itumbi took to his official social media accounts and posted a list of 32 items that police had allegedly recovered from the businessman.

Itumbi further alleged that the police did not find anything to link Harun to the terror charges facing him.

Among the 32 items are mobile phones, personal identification cards, business cards, personal notes, Covid-19 vaccination certificate, sim cards, entrance and exit forms, head phones among others.

Below is the alleged full list.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has alleged that Deputy President William Ruto’s Turkish associate Harun Aydin has not been deported.

Instead, the former senate Majority leader through his official social media accounts says that the government only asked the businessman to leave the country voluntarily.

According to Murkomen, this was meant to help things cool down and to save the state’s face.

Murkomen went ahead to allege that there is pressure from the Turkish government which is demanding answers from Kenya on the treatment of the investor.

“Turkish Businessman Harun Aydin was NOT DEPORTED he was “requested” to leave the country “voluntarily” to help cool things off and for the desperados to save face. The truth however is that the pressure from Turkish government was unbearable.Questions were asked & answers are a MUST,” Murkomen tweeted.

Harun who was part of DP Ruto’s entourage to Uganda in the aborted trip was on Saturday morning arrested at Wilson Airport in Nairobi while re-entering the country.

He was detained by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), and was expected to be produced at Kahawa Law Courts today (Monday) to be charged with terror links.

However, that did not happen as reports emerged that he had already been deported to Turkey in the morning.

His lawyers, among them Ahmednasir Abdullahi took to social media to condemn the move, claiming that they had been kept waiting at Kahawa Law Courts when their client had already been deported.

Hustler Nation spokes person Dennis Itumbi has alleged that the Kenyan state is planning to bring some more charges to be leveled against Turkish businessman Harun Aydin.

This, according to Itumbi, is after terror charges that were leveled against him at the time of his arrest on Saturday August 7 collapsed.

Taking to his official social media handles on Sunday August 8, Itumbi alleged that he had information that the state is now planning to bring on an arms story.

According to Itumbi, the security agencies will claim that Harun Aydin is being used to bring arms to Kenya.

The former State House employee went ahead to allege that the state will then link the Arms Hubris with the alleged Arms Scandal by former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Mohamed Echesa.

This, Itumbi says, is in a desperate effort to bring in Deputy President William Ruto’s office in the story.

He went ahead to allege that the state will now cobble up some form of charges, arraign Aydinand file a miscellenous application asking for 30days to complete investigations.

After this, Itumbi alleges that Harun Aydin will then be deported.

Harun Aydin was part of DP Ruto’s aborted trip to Uganda and was on Saturday arrested and detained by immigration officers and police in Nairobi.

He was detained by immigration officials on landing in Nairobi from Uganda where he had been since August 2.

Officials said they wanted to question him in regard to his immigration status, work permit and the business he is involved in the region.

However, a section of media was on Sunday morning awash with reports that Aydin had been deported in the middle of the night.

Night pictures shared at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) which went viral showed the same people who demanded the release of Harun Aydin at the time he was held by the detectives.

Meanwhile, flamboyant Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has been barred by police from seeing Turkish businessman Harun Aydin.

Taking to his official Twitter handle on Sunday morning, Ahmednasir revealed that for the second day running, he had been barred from seeing Harun Aydin.

The senior counsel claimed that the reason given to him was “orders from above”.

However, he noted that the security agencies holding the businessman have no other choice other than producing him in court on Monday August 9.

He condemned the move, arguing that it was so unfair for the ruling Jubilee government to detain Harun Aydin and deny him access to his lawyers.

“For the second day running I was denied the right to see Harun Aydin. The reason remains the same…”orders from above”. Fortunately THEY have no choice but to bring him to court tomorrow as Art 50 of the Const kicks in. My BELOVED JUBILEE govt isn’t fair!” the lawyer tweeted.

Harun Aydin, the Turkish businessman associated with Deputy President William Ruto has been arrested.

Aydin was arrested on Saturday morning at Wilson Airport in Nairobi while re-entering Kenya from Uganda.

Reports indicate that he is currently being held at the Old Nairobi Area Police Station.

Aydin came to the limelight after it was alleged that he was among five people scheduled to accompany the DP to Uganda.

The others are; MPs Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Oscar Sudi (Kapsaret), Benjamin Tayari (Kinango), Mombasa based businessman David Lang’at, Elijah Rono and Eric Ruto.

Earlier on, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen had predicted that the State would arrest the businessman.

Harun who was being sought by detectives before he checked out of a local hotel where he has been staying runs a company known as Unit 2HA Investment Energy Africa Ltd.

Harun has been staying at a local hotel within the city since June 24, 2021, when he arrived in the country until August 3, 2021, when he checked out just three days after DP Ruto’s saga at Wilson Airport.

The Turkish national who holds passport number U20470175 was issued a working permit by the Department of Immigration Services in Kenya on June 30, 2021, and it is supposed to expire on June 29, 2023.

Harun first jetted into the country in 2018.

DP Ruto has hence dismissed reports that Harun Aydin, is a man of questionable character.

He mentioned that Aydin is a respected Businessman who has a permit to operate in Kenya and even the Turkish embassy has confirmed the same.

Oscar Sudi who was part of the Uganda trip claimed that the media was being used to tarnish the reputation of the businessman and in extension, that of DP Ruto.

Sudi said that Uganda President Yoweri Museveni would not have allowed someone of questionable repute to invest in the country.

Zackary King'ori Mwangi

A senior Police officer was attacked and beaten by irate boda boda operators along the busy Lang’ata road after he involved himself in a hit and run accident.

According to reports, the senior officer identified as Zackary King’ori Mwangi attached to the ministry of foreign affairs had knocked down two pedestrians.

He allegedly escaped from the scene leaving the victims with serious injuries.

Reports further indicate that the officer was driving on the wrong side of the road when he caused the accident.

On seeing him flee the scene, the boda boda riders gave the officer a chase. He was in the company of a lady and the riders attacked them before a policewoman intervened and saved them from the irate mob.

He suffered injuries on the face and arms after being attacked by the boda boda riders. He allegedly told police that he was in a hurry to pick a patient at Karen hospital who was in distress.

Police in their report that has hence gone viral admitted that the two pedestrians that were hit by Mwangi were in serious condition at the Kenyatta National Hospital where they had been rushed by a good samaritan.

His vehicle registration No. KBU 754M was damaged on the front bumper due to the accident, and the boda boda riders had smashed the left side windscreen.

In the past, boda boda riders have been warned against taking action into their own hands when they clash with motorists on the roads.

The riders recently torched Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi‘s official car after he hit one of them in a road accident on his way to Nairobi.

The motorcyclist, Mr John Saanyo and his 8-year-old son, died on the spot after being knocked down by the deputy governor’s vehicle.

Angry area residents blocked the Bomet-Narok highway for hours and later torched Maangi’s vehicle.

CAROLINE KANGOGO BURIAL

Barely days after the late female police officer Caroline Kangogo being buried at her parent’s home in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, a massive transfer of police officers has hit the area.

Reports indicate that Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua has ordered an immediate transfer of 44 police officers.

This is according to orders issued by Mbugua to Sub County Police Commanders via the County Police Headquarters in Iten on Thursday, August 5.

“Reference is made vide the Regional Police Commander Rift Valley’s letter dated August 3, on the above-mentioned matter. The Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service vid his letter dated July 28, has approved the deployment of the following police officers with immediate effect,” the notice reads in part.

The officers in the ranks of sergeants and corporals were transferred to police stations in 22 counties including Kisumu, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Bungoma, Tharaka Nithi, Nyamira, Embu, Nyeri, Kisii, Migori, Muranga, Homa Bay, Nyandarua, Siaya, Busia, Mombasa, Meru, Kitui, Makueni, Vihiga, Kilifi and Machakos.

Kangogo was laid to rest on Thursday July 28 in a low key burial.

There was no gunfire salute and no police officer attended in uniform as Kangogo was buried at her parents’ Nyawa village home in Elgeyo Marakwet county.

Tradition in the police service would require a 21 gunfire salute, but because of circumstances of her death, Caroline was denied the honours.

Her body was draped in a wedding dress as per her wishes.

Caroline was eulogised as a humble and good officer by friends and relatives.

She was popularly known in the village as “Chemu” and schooled at the local Nyawa Primary School a few meters from the family home.

Family members said they were satisfied with ongoing investigations and the autopsy performed by Chief government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor.

Oduor carried out the autopsy at the Moi Referral Hospital in Eldoret and said the bullet entered the body through the right chin and exited on the left side of the head and there was a trajectory going through the spine to the brain killing her.

However he said further investigations would be done to establish if she shot herself or she was shot by someone else.

Kangogo was found dead in a bathroom at her parents’ home days after she was alleged to have killed two police officers.

Deputy President William Ruto has spoken on why he is still in the ruling Jubilee party even after forming the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking on Thursday August 5, 2021 after hosting a UDA party Parliamentary Group at his Karen residence in Nairobi, the second in command said that no one should dictate him on whether to leave Jubilee or not.

According to DP Ruto, he is not a guest in the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led party, maintaining that he has his own choice whether to leave the party or not.

The DP noted that people make choices at the opportune moment when they think different choices are necessary, and therefore nobody should be bothered on why they are still there.

Ruto who was flanked by his allies also said that people should stop mocking their bottom-up economic approach.

“We welcome criticism but don’t mock our bottom-up economic model..” said the second in command.

Ruto’s allies who also addressed the press at the same event termed Jubilee as a “collapsed” political outfit that had “abandoned its agenda.
