Boni Khalwale

A team of twenty homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday January 2, visited the home of Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale in Malinya, Kakamega County.

The detectives are investigating the misery surrounding the death of Kizito Moi Amukune, Khalwale’s worker who died after allegedly being gored by a bull he was taking care of.

According to Khalwale, the late Amukune returned home while drunk, and the smell of the local brew that was similar to molasses might have attracted the bull that went ahead to attack him.

However, a section of Kenyans read foul play in the death, with Kakamega businessman Cleophas Shimanyula accusing Khalwale of murdering his worker then blaming it on the bull named Inasio.

The accusations attracted the attention of the DCI homicide detectives, who have now visited Khalwale’s Malinya home for the fourth time.

A team of DCI detectives from Malinya police station were the first to visit the home to carry out investigations, but the intensity of the matter attracted the attention of the detectives from the DCI headquarters from Kiambu Road, Nairobi.

Khalwale who spoke on the fourth day of the investigations said he was willingly ready to offer the detectives the maximum cooperation they need during their investigations.

He added that the detectives are awaiting for the second post-mortem for them to conclude their investigations.

“The National Director of Homicide Investigations Department, Martin Nyuguto, led a 20-man strong squad from Nairobi to lay bear the facts surrounding the sudden death of my fighter bull caretaker,'” Khalwale posted on X.

Boni Khalwale's Fighter Bull

Inasio, the prized bull belonging to Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, has killed its dedicated caretaker and trainer, Kizito Moi, aged 46.

The unfortunate incident unfolded within the confines of the bull’s den, with Moi’s lifeless body discovered on Sunday, January 28, 2024, bearing severe injuries on the neck, stomach, back, head, and buttocks.

Moi, who had devoted 24 years of his life to working with Senator Khalwale, was passionately committed to the training and well-being of Inasio, the reigning champion of the renowned bullfighting contest in Ikolomani.

Inasio, a five-year-old bull weighing 120kg, had recently clinched the title of reigning champion on January 1, 2024.

Senator Khalwale, expressing his profound shock, remarked that such incidents are rare, recalling the last similar event in Ikolomani, which happened three decades ago.

The tragedy unfolded when Moi failed to appear for breakfast, raising concerns among his colleagues. Upon investigation, his lifeless body was discovered in the bull’s den.

Speaking about the incident, Senator Khalwale said, “My farm has two sides – the dairy part and the bull. The deceased was purely working on the side of the bull – training it and taking care of its wellbeing. In the morning, he failed to report to work, and everybody got concerned. My wife asked his colleagues to check on him from his house. But while they were heading to the house, they checked in the bull’s den, and that is when they discovered his body lying in a pool of blood.”

Austin Munasia, the treasurer of the Kakamega Bullfighting Association, has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, raising the possibility of foul play.

He suggested that the killer bull undergo traditional rituals in the bullfighting field, where people scramble for its body parts.

In line with the traditions of the Idakho and Isukha sub-tribes, when a bull participating in bullfighting kills a person, its body parts are shared while the animal is still alive.

Participants cut their share and run away until the bull falls dead, and the meat is then distributed randomly.

Senator Khalwale assured that the traditional process of managing such a disaster would commence promptly, with the conclusion slated for a day after the burial of the deceased.

He emphasized that the incident would be treated as an unfortunate accident, following all the laid-down procedures to leave nothing to chance.

According to tradition, individuals caring for bulls in bullfighting contests are typically bachelors without children. The politician assured that he was coordinating with Mr. Moi’s family members to ensure the deceased receives a decent send-off.

Bullfighting is a cultural sport common in Western Kenya especially Kakamega county where people breed bulls for the purpose of fighting competitions.

Boni Khalwale with Oparanya

Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has released a video revealing the details of his six-hour long meeting with former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

Khalwale had on Sunday evening left his followers in speculations after revealing that he had held the meeting with Oparanya at his rural home in Mabole, Kakamega County.

However, Boni Khalwale has this morning released the video that shows him addressing the press alongside Oparanya and Lurambi Member of Parliament Titus Khamala.

In the video, Khalwale says that he had earlier on visited President William Ruto and informed him about his intentions to vie for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in 2027.

As a starting point, Boni Khalwale says he had to visit Oparanya, who is the county’s first boss, and share with him the information.

The reason we came here is because two months ago, I visited the President of Kenya and announced to him that in 2027 I will be running for governor of Kakamega. Today was now the day to inform the county government of Kakamega,” Khalwale says in the video.

The bullfighter goes ahead to say that he had deliberately chosen Oparanya for the communication because he was Kakamega’s first governor.

“I deliberately chose Oparanya for this important communication to the county because he was our first governor. I have met the former governor without prejudice to anybody,” Boni Khalwale said.

Oparanya on his part praises Khalwale for having done a good job when he was the first senator of the county.

“He put me on toes of course, and because of that I was able to deliver, and that is what a senator is supposed to do,” Opararanya said.

Oparanya further noted that there is no permanent enemy in politics, and that what is important is the interests.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has set tongues wagging on social media with his public courting of famous KoX dentist Branice Munyasa.

Dr. Branice is the founder and proprietor of Nextcare Dental, a premium dental clinic that prides itself on providing a pleasant and comfortable experience to its clients.

However, it is not just her profession, that has elevated her to one of the most influential figures on X (formerly Twitter). Branice has a talent for making native African cuisines, which is perhaps inspired by her ‘Mjengo’ appetite. In the era of pizza and burgers, boiled hooves and ugali is an elite meal.

An alumnus of The University of Nairobi, Branice is among the few women who have attracted a huge following on KoX, without using the conventional way of sharing thirst traps.

Apart from her excellent cooking, she is also a fitness maniac, who covers 30 KM in three hours. She participated in the 2023 Stanchart Marathon.

On Twitter, her fans simply refer to her as ‘Daktari’ or ‘Daktari wa meno’ a recognition of her profession in the medical industry.

The fact that she keeps her personal life off social media, and only discusses medicine, food, and fitness has given some of her followers hope that she could be available for dating.

Social media bigwigs have not hidden their intentions, some of them like Osama Otero cannot go an hour without mentioning Daktari. The problem with Osama is that he is a low-life self-proclaimed chair of the Kenya Tuktuk community. I wonder if he can manage a morning marathon, especially with a fitness enthusiast like Daktari Munyasa.

Khalwale Joins the Race

Among Dr. Branice Munyasa’s biggest cheerleaders is Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale. Since realizing that Branice comes from Kakamega County, Khalwale has been publicly asking to meet her.

It seems Khalwale is so love-smitten that he has turned on the notifications on Branice Munyasa’s account. For the past two days, the former Ikolomani MP has been interacting with Branice immediately after she shares any post.

Recently, he asked her if she would want him to organize a medical camp at her former Primary School. According to Khalwale, this will be a way for Branice to give back to a community she cares very much. The doctor has never shied away from talking about her humble beginnings and how her community contributed a lot to her education.

But that is not all, Khalwale has moved from wanting to organize a medical camp to asking Branice to meet and talk to his daughter because he just likes her story. Truth be said, Dr. Munyasa’s journey to the top is nothing but inspirational. But could Khalwale have more ulterior motives?

We are talking about a very proud polygamist who has sired more KCPE and KCSE candidates than anyone else we know.

Former Kakamega County senator Boni Khalwale has found himself in trouble over a controversial statement he made against Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.

Junet has threatened to sue Khalwale  for alleging that he has been paid money meant to fight Covid-19.

Khalwale while attending a public gathering in Busia early in the month, had alleged that Junet had been paid by Kemsa money meant to mitigate Covid-19 effects.

Through his lawyers, Junet said Khalwale’s sentiments had caused him gross distress and embarrassment while subjecting him to grave panic, fear, mental anguish and pain.

Khalwale further alleged that Homa Bay woman MP Gladys Wanga had been placed in the Finance committee to facilitate the deal.

According to the lawyers, Khalwale claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta should fire Health CS Mutahi Kagwe for allowing Covid-19 money to paid to Wanga, Jubilee’s Party Sec-Gen Raphael Tuju and Junet.

“The statements in their ordinary meaning are calculated to mean our client is corrupt, dishonorable, unscrupulous, deceitful, untrustworthy, disreputable, unpatriotic a conspirator with others in the commission of criminal activities, immoral and above all a criminal,” read part of the demand letter.

Junet said as a result of the “reckless egoistic, careless and defamatory statements clothed with unparalleled impunity”, he has suffered injuries on his reputation while subjecting him further to public ridicule and odium.

“Our firm mandatory instructions are to demand from you an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the misplaced, wrong, malicious and illegal statements,” the demand letter said in part.

According to Junet, Khalwale in the said withdrawal, should publish it in broadcast media and print of wide circulation across the country.

“He should also tender an unconditional apology to our client after which the issue of quantum of damages and any other appropriate remedy may be discussed,” the lawyers said.

The lawyers said if Khalwale does not meet the demands in three days, legal proceedings will be commenced against him.

Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale’s message to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has left netizens with many questions.

Khalwale on Wednesday July 8, 2020 through his official twitter handle sent a message of good will to the former Prime Minister.

Khalwale noted that when the African Union’s chapter of friends is written, he will not be left out.

The 2022 Kakamega gubernatorial aspirant noted that Raila’s friendship chapter will record the sacrifices he made for him in Zanzibar, during the Okoa Kenya initiative, during the 2017 campaigns and the six hours of teargas, gunshots, blood and death during the time Raila was returning to Kenya from the USA.

Khalwale went ahead to pray for Raila’s quick recovery, telling him to get well soon.

The Orange party leader is recuperating in Dubai after undergoing a minor surgery.

“When it is written, the chapter on ua friends will record the sacrifices I met for u in Zanzibar, Okoa Kenya Initiative, 2017 campaigns & the 6 hours of teargas/gunshots/tears/blood/death, on ua arrival from the USA. U are in my thoughts & prayers. @RailaOdinga, do get well soon,” reads Khalwale’s Twitter post.

However, Khalwale’s words met netizens with shock, leaving them wondering why he has suddenly changed from attacking Raila, to sending him messages of goodwill.

Khalwale has been Raila’s big critic since he decamped from NASA coalition to join Deputy President William Ruto’s team.

Some netizens have however, told Khalwale to mean his words, since there are no permanent enemies in politics.

Here are some of the reactions.

Former kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has claimed that Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke has been jailed for enjoying the benefits of a lawful court order.

Taking to his official twitter account a day after the sentencing of the lawmaker and his co-accused, Khalwale argued that the arbitration court ordered the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) to pay Waluke the Sh 297 million for breach of contract for supply of maize.

Khalwale further argues that the NCPB unsuccessfully challenged the order in both the High and Appeal Courts.

“Arbitratuon Court ordered NCPB to pay Hon Waluke Sh 297 million for breach of contract for supply of maize.NCPB unsuccessfully challenged this in both the High & Appeal Courts. Waluke has been jailed for enjoying the benefit of a lawful court order! System Ya Majambazi,” he tweeted.

Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has also faulted the historic graft ruling in the case involving the Sirisia MP and his co-accused Grace Wakhungu.

Taking to his official twitter account on Friday morning, Havi termed Waluke and Wakhungu’s conviction as fraudulent.

According to Havi, Waluke and Grace Wakhungu contracted with the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB). In this case, Havi says, NCBP breached the contract.

He says the arbitrator ordered the payment and the award was enforced by the High Court. While justifying that the accused people committed no crime, Havi noted that NCPB lost before High Court and Court of Appeal and paid the decree.

“John Waluke and Grace Wakhungu contracted with NCPB. NCBP breached the contract. Arbitrator ordered payment. Award was enforced by High Court. NCPB lost before High Court and Court of Appeal and paid the decree. How can that be a crime? Do not celebrate fraudulent convictions,” he tweeted.

Waluke and his co-accused will pay a fine of close to Sh2 billion or serve at least 39 years in prison after they were found guilty of defrauding the state agency.

While sentencing the two, Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Juma said the offences they committed were serious. She added that the two and their company took advantage of a dire situation in the country, as Kenya faced a drought, to defraud the NCPB.

The magistrate said there were aspects in the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act (ACECA) that are mandatory and the court had no option but to pass sentence as prescribed in the law.

But where the court has discretion, Ms Juma said she would exercise it judiciously. On the first count of uttering a false document, the court directed Ms Wakhungu to pay a fine of Sh100,000 or serve one year in prison.

She was further directed to pay another fine of Sh100m for purgery or serve another year in jail.

Both the convicts and the company were directed to pay a fine of Sh626 million each or serve seven year in jail for receiving fraudulent payment from NCPB.

Waluke will pay Sh726 million for his sins. He will also shoulder Sh313 million, which is half the amount the court fined Erad Supplies & General Contractors Ltd. Waluke and and his accomplice Grace Wakhungu were co-directors of Erad. He, however, has a right of appeal.

The court also paved way for the NCPB to go after the two convicts’ assets to recoup Sh297 million that it lost.

Police have summoned former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale.

Taking to his official twitter account on Thursday June 11, 2020, Khalwale revealed that he was on his way to police station over his food donation events in Kakamega.

“Been summoned by the police to explain why I gave food to people in Kakamega. On my way,” he posted.

Khalwale was recently teargassed as police moved in to disperse a crowd he was addressing in Kakamega.

The police termed the public meeting at Muranda Primary School in Shinyalu Sub County illegal.

Khalwale and the residents including boda-boda riders were forced to scamper for safety in a nearby maize plantation as police hurled teargas canisters.

Before the meeting came to an abrupt end Khalwale had just started lashing out at trade unionist Francis Atwoli, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, area Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and leaders who attended a meeting held in Kajiado to deliberate on Luhya unity ahead of the 2022 elections.

As much as the vocal Deputy President William Ruto’s ally says that he has been summoned over the relief food he distributed in Kakamega, he might have been summoned for flouting Covid-19 rules by holding public gatherings without observing the measures put by government to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has found himself in hot soup after sharing a viral President Uhuru Kenyatta photo with his deputy William Ruto at State House.

During the 2020 Madaraka day celebrations on Monday June 1, 2020, The head of State and his deputy happened to have stepped out in the same outfit.

Amidst the fallen relationship between the two, Kenyans on Social media re-ignited the lost glory, sharing the photos of the two in their past events, where they used to step out in same suits.

An excited Khalwale was quick to note President Kenyatta and DP Ruto’s Madaraka day outfit, took to his official twitter account and shared the photo.

However, this did not go well with a section of Kenyans on twitter. They have blasted Khalwale for for engaging himself in the activities that are being done by Tanga Tanga bloggers. Some have even told him off, urging him to focus on how will lose the 2022 Kakamega County gubernatorial seat.

Here are some of the reactions on the photo.

Former Kakamega County senator Boni Khalwale on Friday tore into Kenya Airways for suspending one of their staffs who blew the whistle about a Chinese plane that landed at JKIA with 239 passengers from China.

On Wednesday, Kenyan authorities allowed the plane to land in the country despite of the corona virus fears.

Kenya Airways was pissed off with the rate at which the video showing the Chinese Southern Airline landing at JKIA spread on social media.

As a result, Gire Ali, their staff who is alleged to have recorded and spread the video was suspended with effect from February 27, 2020.

“Following a report of video of China Southern flights arrival at JKIA and circulation of the video clip widely on social media and your alleged involvement in the matter, it has been decided that you be suspended from duty with effect from Feb 27,” KQ Chief human resource Evelyne Munyoki said in a letter dated February 27, 2020.

According to Munyoki, the suspension is in line with the company policies.

“This is to pave way for further investigations into the matter. During the period of suspension, you will be required to avail yourself to the investigating team,” Munyoki said.

Image

But Khalwale the bullfighter in a quick response to the suspension has termed the decision as a wisdom of fools.

Khalwale says that Mr Gire Ali is just a mere whistle blower and does not deserve the suspension.

He has termed Mr Gire as a hero to Kenyans.

“Suspend Mr Gire Ali? He is a mere whistle blower. Now our hero. Kenya Airways, yours is wisdom of fools,” Khalwale tweeted.

Gire alerted Kenyans of a China plane that had landed at JKIA with authorities silently ushering in the 239 passengers by only advising them to quarantine themselves for 14 days.

So far, 17 suspect cases have been recorded in the country and all have tested negative.

On Thursday, a section of MPs demanded that all the Chinese airlines be suspended from landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Led by Minority leader John Mbadi the MPs said it was a careless move for those responsible to have cleared a China Southern Airline plane on Kenyan soil despite the scare of the coronavirus outbreak.

Mbadi said it was laughable that the Health ministry cleared all the 239 passengers and asked them to ‘self-quarantine’ without proper monitoring mechanisms.

Wanga elders have today warned Luhyas against electing people that crippled Mumias Sugar Company when they had power to save the only economic source in western province.

Speaking at a meeting in shiembekho restaurant in Matungu constituency, Mr. Peter Mumia Shitawa who is the current Nabongo warned Luhyas against electing those leaders that had evidence that would take Kidero to jail for freezing Mumias sugar on the governorship position.

Up to date millions of residents of Mumias youth dropped out of school as they soley depended on Mumias Sugar Company as their main source of income. Mr. Shitawa asked Luhyas not to vote for Ayub Savula and Bonny Khalwale as governor for it will be suicidal to their economy as people will languish in poverty forever.

Lugari MP and Kakamega gubernatorial aspirant in 2022 Ayub Savula who is a former journalist is said to have had massive intensive evidence against Dr. Evans Kidero, the then Mumias sugar company CEO.

The evidence could have seen Kidero’s property repossessed and Mumias sugar reopened.

When Kidero knew the massive evidence against him was going to bring him down, he approached Ayub savula with a bribe totaling to 300 million shillings.

Savula on the other hand rejected the bribe and asked Kidero to show him “how to fish” from the sweat of Luhyas.

This is when Kidero introduced savula to the business of importing cheap sugar from Uganda and repackaging it into Mumias sugar company packets.

The two became millionaires and hence the source of Savula’s massive wealth and intention to become the governor.

On the other hand former Kakamega senator Dr.  Bonny Khalwale tabled massive evidence against Kidero in the senate.

This evidence was enough to impeach Kidero as the governor of Nairobi should he have been found guilty of corruption.

Kidero being a corruption mafia, he summoned the poor beggar khalwale to a hotel in Uganda and offered him a bribe worth 20 million., the money the polygamous khalwale could not reject and ended up selling the Luhya people to the dogs.

Should the people of Kakamega County listen to peter, the second Mumia, then it is obvious that Khalwale and Savula stand no chance of becoming governors of Kakamega county come 2022 and should not waste their finances on the campaigns.

Currently Kakamega County stands as one of the most developed counties after the introduction of devolved system of government.

Political analyst Herman Manyora has questioned Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli over his prophecies, all of whom he believes have come to pass.

The latest was about Imran Okoth’s win in the Kibra poll, which he made about a fortnight ago, during an interview on Citizen TV’s JKL Show.

In the prediction, he said that Imran, of the ODM party, will have won by 10 am, beating among others, McDonald Mariga of the Jubilee Party.

Manyora now says that this should serve as a warning to Deputy President William Ruto, considering that Atwoli has since prophesied that he will never be president.

This comes at a time when the DP is warming up for the 2022 general elections, and Manyora is of the view that he should bail himself out.

Speaking on Saturday, he pointed out that given that all of his other prophesies have materialized, including the President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga truce, the DP should consider having the prophecy on his bid undone.

“For William Samoei Ruto, Atwoli says you will never be President. Look for him ameze hiyo mate (so that he can swallow that saliva),” he advised, on his “Take It or Leave It” political analysis you tube channel.

He also cautioned the trade unionist against going around cursing people, stressing on the need for him to be very careful with what he says to avoid doing bad to others.

“This Atwoli and his prophesies; he talked of the handshake and it came. Atwoli with your prophesies and curses be careful. You said Echesa (former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa) will be sacked and he was sacked. Kwani wewe Atwoli uko namna gani (how were you made?),” he added.

Atwoli has also said that the DP will not only not be the president, but will not even be in the presidential ballot, and has also claimed that there will be a referendum before 2022.

According to him, President Uhuru Kenyatta will stay in power post-2022.
