Love Spells

Kisumu – There was drama and commotion in Tom Mboya Estate after a married man was busted in an indecent act with a very unlikely companion – his mother-in-law.

The incident has left many asking what has become of people nowadays since men no longer seem to have the same respect for in-laws as used to happen in earlier days. The same case goes for women.

Earlier, an African man would not even spend the night at his in-laws; some people even believe the sun should not set when a man is still in the village of his in-laws.

Damaris and Ken had been married for three years. Being natives of the lake-side city, they had a nice house in Kisumu.

The exigencies of work also saw them get another house in Nairobi, where Damaris worked mostly.

“We have some money, but not much. God has blessed us with two cars, two houses and a fairly well-off family. I love my husband, but he came to surprise me in a way I could not believe and understand. But we are now okay,” said Damaris.

The woman confessed that though everything at face value first seemed okay, deep down, their marriage had hit the rock button, and intimacy was dying.

She suspected Ken was cheating, but she did not have evidence. Four months ago, Ken had what he called a business meeting in Kisumu.

He took a flight on Friday evening ahead of the meeting that was set for Monday. Since Damaris was also off during the weekend, she planned to surprise her hubby with a sumptuous traditional meal later that Monday evening.

She drove that Monday morning to Kisumu. On arrival, she passed through the nearby Kibuye market, where she bought spices, fish, and vegetables, then proceeded home, which was just less than 4 kilometres away.

It was around 1pm when she arrived, accompanied by her sister. Surprisingly, her windows were open.

“Ken never learns, he likes leaving windows open,” she told her sister.

As she approached the main door and while producing the key, she was struck by a funny sound. A sound of passion.

With a lot of curiosity, she stealthy opened the door and tiptoed to the guest bedroom, where she saw the unbelievable. Her mother was busy in bed with her man.

“Is this the meeting you were talking about Ken,” she shouted, attracting the attention of their gardener and a neighbour who was cutting the hedges.

“Yani unakula hadi mama yangu aki Ken. Mom, what are you doing here? This is my house. This is wrong,” she wailed.

The two could not say anything. Their faces were sunk in shame. Damari’s sister could not have it, so she ran outside and started crying.

“I am just showing him how to do it so that you people give me grandchildren. It seems you are not doing it right, and that is why you are still childless four years after marriage.

At this point, it quickly dawned on Damaris that everything was just falling into the right place and going according to plan. A week ago, she had contacted Mugwenu Doctors, whom she had told she suspected her hubby was cheating on her.

Using a powerful spell, the herbalists set up a trap for them, and he walked right into it. But now Damaris was having more than she could chew.

The sight of her mom with her man was too much. She was the unexpected villain.

She returned to the herbalists and sought more advice; she told them she did not want to leave her hubby despite the ugly scene.

The herbalist looked into the situation and advised her to drop the hormonal contraceptive she was using since it was interfering with her weight and sexual urges.

This, they said, was the reason why there was no bedroom fire in the relationship.

Football fans in Bungoma had a reason to celebrate over the weekend after a team from local betting firm Triple5bet pitched camp in the town, located in Western Kenya.

Triple5bet awarded full kits to two football teams in Bungoma, one of the hotspots for local football talent in Kenya.

Ask any upcoming footballer about the challenges they face in their careers, and the answer is almost unanimous – lack of kits.

Triple5bet understands these challenges and that is why they came up with their Ng’arisha Team, a mega project which will see the firm award kits to hundreds of grassroot football clubs.

The Ng’arisha Team Project has already seen the firm award teams from underprivileged areas in Nairobi like Kibera, Githurai and Eastlands.

Teams from Kisumu, Kakamega, Eldoret, Machakos, Nakuru and Thika have also benefited from the Ng’arisha Team Project. The Triple5bet management says they intend to traverse the whole country and reach the remotest of teams with these projects.

“This is just the beginning; we have so much more in store for our local teams” a senior manager at the firm said, adding that the initial plan is to kit two teams from every area before they expand.

Though a new entrant in the Kenyan betting industry, Triple5bet have set themselves apart from their peers with very ambitious society building projects.

The firm also has mouthwatering bonuses for both new and existing customers. New customers get 100% bonus on their first deposit.

A ferry with an unknown number of passengers has capsized in Lake Victoria at Usenge.

The boat popularly known as Water Bus is said to have been plying the Mageta Island—Usenge beach route in Siaya County when the incident occurred.

Sources say the boat could have been hit by strong winds and high tides partly attributed to rising water levels of Lake Victoria.

A rescue mission is currently underway, coordinated by local administration and beach management units.

Water levels have been on the rise in Lake Victoria over the last four months.

This has been attributed to high rainfall levels in Western Kenya as well as climatic change.

A 14-year old KCPE candidate set to sit for national exams at Kasuna Primary School in Nyando, Kisumu county was attacked on Wednesday by his father and step-mother for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.

According to K24 Digital, the boy’s father, Apolo Onjulu, and his wife, Rose Awino, wrapped the 14-year-old’s fingers in a newspaper, soaked the papers in paraffin and lit a fire.

The boy’s screams of pain caught the attention of a neighbour, Richard Muga, who rushed to the scene and rescued the teenager.

The victim was, thereafter, taken to Ahero Sub-County Hospital for emergency care.

According to Kisumu County Director of Health, Dr. Dickens Onyango, the minor’s condition is stable despite sustaining severe burn wounds.

“The doctors at Ahero Hospital have assured me that he will be able to sit the KCPE test next week,” said Dr. Onyango.

Nyando police boss, Matete, says for the period that the suspects will be in custody, the boy will put up at a Good Samaritan’s place.

“A Good Samaritan has offered to accommodate the minor for the period that he will sit the KCPE exam [which begins next week Tuesday and ends on Thursday],” said Matete.

It is alleged that the teenager’s step-mother had accused him of stealing a smartphone, and when the boy denied the allegations, the suspect vowed to “teach him a lesson”.

Police say Awino waited until the boy’s father returned home from Awasi and told him [father] that the son had stolen a phone.

“It was at that point that the boy’s father wrapped the minor’s fingers in a newspaper and lit a fire that left him nursing serious burn wounds,” said Matete.

The suspects are being held at Ahero Police Station.

After a gang raping incident that happened in Maseno on Saturday night, a man and his wife are being held at Kisumu Central Police Station after attacking a chief and village elder who had accompanied census officers at their house in Obunga slums.

In the Sunday incident, the man, identified as Richard Ochieng, bit the fingers of a village elder while his wife hit the area Assitant chief with a piece of brick, hurting him on his thigh.

Acting Kanyakwar Chief Maurice Ojwang said the couple had chased away the enumerators on Saturday night and were never counted, prompting him to accompany them on Sunday alongside police officers.

The chief said when they got to the couple’s house, the woman started wailing and causing commotion before calling his husband who was away.

When her husband arrived, he also started shouting and as police attempted to handcuff him, he severely bit the village elder’s fingers.

Kakamega County governor Wycliffe Oparanya is yet again on EACC radar over his newly acquired multi-million hotel in Kisumu.

According to a local daily, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is investigating the Council of Governors chairman over acquisition of Sh250 million Kisumu hotel.

An EACC report claims that Oparanya  bought St John Manor hotel “using public funds believed to have been embezzled from the county government of Kakamega.”

St John’s Manor hotel is a three-star star facility located along the Nerhu Road in Kisumu town.

It borders the lucrative Kisumu Impala Sanctuary and the exclusive Kisumu Yatch Club.

The hotel is the preferred choice for nearly all governors from the Lake Basin Region when holding meetings in Kisumu and costs between Sh6,000-Sh9000 a room per night.

According to the information on its website, the hotel features a swimming pool, fully air-conditioned rooms, a private balcony, laundry services, and airport pickup services.

However, Oparanya on Sunday  termed the EACC probe a waste of time saying he neither owns the hotel nor does he have any interest in the facility.

“I don’t own that hotel and I have never owned it. If they want to investigate, let them go and do so,” Oparanya told the local daily in a telephone interview.

He went on: “There is nothing wrong with me owning a hotel. Even if I owned it, I would gladly say so. What is wrong with owning a hotel?”

Oparanya has been hailed for his impressive development record in Kakamega and the anti-corruption purge would be an anti-climax in his enviable career.
